thanks for congratulations 🏅 I flipping love swimming so it's all fun for me.
1 school skirt being washed to give away as it was too tight for DD this morning

Gassylady · 06/09/2022 15:19

Another well done from me @seperatedmum and hope you are shaking off the COVID @Nordicmom Dropped a bag at charity shop today DHs shorts, several outgrown school shirts, a bike bag, couple of board games and two brand new still in their packet school shirts. The brand new ones were hung on the rail in a wardrobe and so completely invisible to everyone it would seem 🙄Still they will be a good buy for someone. Keep looking at several DVDs we haven’t watched in ages but aren’t on streaming sites either, as they now fit neatly on the shelf i guess they can stay

WildBlueAndDitzy · 06/09/2022 19:45

Today's out: some fabric scraps from a sewing project that won't be of use for anything else

stealthninjamum · 07/09/2022 18:17

I’m still doing the playroom. I have been going through home schooling stuff which is kept in a drawer in here and got a pile of stuff to go. Generally I show everything to dds before they go but this pile was mainly blank worksheets we’d printed in home schooling that they hadn’t done. I also three text books.

it doesn’t feel like the house is emptier (much of what I’m doing is in drawers) but somehow I have six plastic boxes which I have emptied so I’ve done more than I thought.

My 2022 total is 2403 things out so far.

I also cleared out the car today but I’m not counting that in the total as it’s just everyday stuff - sweets, empty bottles, car park tickets etc

toomanyhobbies · 07/09/2022 20:13

So it was back to school this week for Ds on Monday and was back at work today. The house is still a mess from where dh has been decorating and we swapped a couple of rooms around. Although now the playroom downstairs has been turned in to an office/craft room it is staying tidier and Ds is using the spare room which is now a play room a lot more so that’s good.

i did start sorting tiding and cleaning Ds room Monday and got rid of some bits of rubbish. Sorted out some cookbooks which has been sat on our bedroom floor for months (dh was suppose to put a shelf up in the kitchen). The ones we are keeping have been moved to a shelf in the livingroom and the rest were added to the charity pile. Which I am proud to say I took to the charity shop on Monday.

dh sorted some bits in the loft out while looking for something else and bag of books has gone to my mum for her to read and a couple have been added to the new charity pile.

ememem84 · 07/09/2022 21:45

Finished a perfume sample today and binned an overstretched hairband. No other outs today.

ins were a baking tray and a water jug. Both needed.

seperatedmum · 08/09/2022 08:01

just discovered I left 2 stained unwanted school tops out of the charity bag, that'll give me an out another day in suppose 😳

IncessantNameChanger · 08/09/2022 11:06

Dd has moved up from infant to juniors with a completely new uniform and I haven't even got rid of her old one. I'm beyound help.

Seriously thinking about finding a charity that could help me. I feel beyound help now.

Vinorosso74 · 08/09/2022 17:07

Gave DD's room a thorough clean and tidy today. Binned two old, broken bags, a too small hairband, sunglasses, various bits of rubbish and pieces of paper. I now have to decide what to do with the too small footwear.

WildBlueAndDitzy · 08/09/2022 17:51

Today's out:
💨 Stained dress
💨 Holey leggings
💨 Falling apart shoes
💨 Paperwork relating to an old car

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 10/09/2022 14:47

Can I (re)join you? I was on these threads, maybe a couple of years back? We’ve since moved and seem to have accumulated too much clutter - I’m so much happier when I don’t have a million things to tidy up!

I’ve managed to jettison over 200 items over the past few weeks but now seem to have hit a wall - I’m hoping being on here will keep me accountable!

Myleakycauldron · 10/09/2022 16:22

I also want to rejoin this thread as have had a couple of months off and a hectic summer - I'm back at work now and my oldest back at school so hoping to re-focus!

I'm hoping to see a couple of friends next week to pass on some clothes / baby stuff currently accumulating in various piles downstairs!

I may go back to listing individual items to encourage me to keep going.

EllieQ · 10/09/2022 16:46

@IncessantNameChanger Sorry to hear you are struggling. What about keeping one ‘set’ of your DD’s infant school uniform as a memory? I have done something similar with my DD and kept one set from reception year. Thinking about it, I may have kept one from each age group, but I’m not sure. I definitely have the reception-sized clothes.

Progress this week: Went through the stuff piled in the bottle of DD’s wardrobe and discovered a few more bits of school uniform that I’d bought. Put two PE tops and one cardigan in the donation bag, but these were replaced with two PE tops and two cardigans.

I also took a bag of previously sorted clothes to the charity bank, and today DD and I went through her long-sleeved dresses and three of them are too small / she doesn’t like them, so they’ve gone into the charity shop pile (and it is a pile now!).

WildBlueAndDitzy · 10/09/2022 18:24

Today's out:

🌟 Stained and threadbare t-shirt
🌟 Two bras with the wire poking through

IncessantNameChanger · 11/09/2022 13:19

Thank you @EllieQ I might try that. I was relatively sensible and got dd next summer things in the sale. A little capsule wardrobe of 7 t shirts, 7 shorts, swimming costumes and light trainers so no Need to hit the shops.

I will start by putting it all into bags. At least in bags it's half way gone

stealthninjamum · 11/09/2022 16:48

incessantnamechanger have you thought of turning part of dd’s uniform into something? There’s a website that turns blazers into teddies and I know friends who have made scrunchies out of summer dresses and I’ve seen them turned into fairies. I was lucky, I found it quite easy to get rid of dd’s old uniforms, but maybe if you just change one into something else it might help get rid of the rest of it.

seperatedmum · 11/09/2022 17:59

@IncessantNameChanger as @stealthninjamum has said yes make them part of something maybe? as I said ⬇️ I'm collecting bits for a memory blanket and I've put a preschool top in there and I'll put a primary school top too they all went to the same preschool and primary the logo and some of the background will be a square, I think I'll feel ok with that

ememem84 · 13/09/2022 06:53

“Magic wand” aka light up stick which cost DH £15 from the circus for dd. Gone. She whacked ds with it and it broke. So I binned it.

another small perfume sample gone

SydneyCarton · 13/09/2022 15:30

Couple of bags of clothes, books and outgrown toys to the charity shop today, with another bag waiting to go once I find missing pieces for a shape sorter and a Night Garden set. Also some boxes of noodles which DP bought from the Chinese supermarket and now realises we'll never eat - some are past the BBE so I'll put them on Olio, and the foodbank will take the others.

I have a changing mat and a booster seat which I need to put on Olio as well. Trying to recycle some birthday presents from the massive stash the DDs got when they had their birthday parties in April to give as gifts this year, but so far it's only been boys who've invited them to parties and a lot of the stuff we have is very pink and unicorn-y Hmm

stealthninjamum · 14/09/2022 08:19

I’m wondering if Facebook has changed the marketplace algorithms so no one can see what I’m selling because about a week ago I put about four items for sale and I’ve had no interest for sale. Usually I’m quite good at knowing what to sell - boxed sets of books, Duplo, Lego, playmobil, board games etc and yet I’ve had no interest.

I have a policy to put things for sale for a week and then take them to a charity shop but dc have been so good giving things like unwanted presents and toys that they used to love but have finished with so I’d quite like to give them something for it.

seperatedmum · 14/09/2022 16:15

fobbed out a load of microfiber cloths on STBXH and listed some unloved wax melts also some JD bags and random from under the sink out

WildBlueAndDitzy · 14/09/2022 17:10

Today's out: two old window wipers for a car I no longer own.

Vinorosso74 · 15/09/2022 07:47

More small outs. I have sorted some of DD's outgrown footwear-some for recycling and a couple of pairs into a new charity shop bag.
One achievement, after having a ridiculous amount of wrapping paper, it has nearly all been used up!

SydneyCarton · 15/09/2022 12:43

OOD noodles listed on Olio and all 9 packets have just been picked up, although DP is making noises about keeping the box "for something useful" Angry Also listed the changing mat but no takers for that so far. In-date noodles to be taken to the foodbank next week when they reopen

Vinorosso74 · 15/09/2022 16:59

@ememem84 my hangers arrived today! They are great, definitely more space. I have got rid of a few things out my wardrobe as I went along so I now have a bag and half ready for charity plus textile recycling.
Got a few items to try on and need to swap DD's hangers too. I now have lots of hangers to get rid of!
