We made it all the way to Mauritius! I didn’t sleep in the plane so I’ve been up for a day and a half and quite delirious by now . Soon about to go to bed. My first swim in nearly two years was well worth it . Lots going on at home but I’ll try to put it out of my mind here if possible. We’ll get back to it in a week.

WildBlueAndDitzy · 21/08/2022 19:24

Enjoy your holiday Nordic

Today's out: one baby vest that's seen better days

toomanyhobbies · 22/08/2022 08:41

I’m sure I saw linked (I thought at the start of this thread but may have been another one) a thread about organisation/re organisation. It’s was like this one somewhere people can list why they have done/doing. Does anyone remember can link it? I thought it was starts by one of the lovely posters on here.

well I didn't really do much yesterday still couldn't find motivation but today I tidied, really the kitchen for 1 1/2 hours only outs were recycling and expired food but then I discovered a few maggots in my black bin but loads in the food bin 🤢 really grim and when I'd cleaned the bins as much as I could big flies kept swarming to the clean bins and bags 🤮 so not much better. I had to dump new cat litter over the bags to kill the smell. bloody gross but after that decluttering won't seem so bad 🙄

ememem84 · 22/08/2022 19:03

Radiator gone £150 in.

seperatedmum · 23/08/2022 18:11

Another outgrown bike gone to a friend of NDN other one still there. chased the olio lady to collect playpen nothing yet. very stressful day trying to liaise with unhelpful colleagues

WildBlueAndDitzy · 23/08/2022 20:53

Today's out:

2 DVD's
One skirt that doesn't hang right on me

WildBlueAndDitzy · 24/08/2022 23:34

Today's out: one bag of baby gloves and two more DVD's

Jellycatrabbit · 25/08/2022 20:07

Another tip trip, that's 3 light bulbs, a microwave and a length of rusty metal guttering gone

25 clothes items too small for DS and too boyish for DD passed on to someone on a Facebook pass it on group. I'm a bit suspicious as she's collected from me before under a different name but oh well, it's some outs, I'd never have got round to selling.

DH has caught the bug and actually looked in his clothes cupboard this week. Another 6 outs.

However he also said, where has all the stuff gone from, why is this house still full of junk. Ungrateful whatsit! There are definitely fewer piles of stuff around, and all the cupboards shut properly. That's where it has gone from!

ememem84 · 26/08/2022 06:38

Outs this week:

library books went back
sold radiator (£150 in)
DH Will get rid of his swimmers - bought him new for his birthday
I finished an eyeliner and mascara. Have loads in my stash so will select a new one
Finished shampoo and conditioner so the giant bottles are no longer clogging up bathroom. Replaced with new ones from the stash I have.

ememem84 · 26/08/2022 06:40

my eBay listings will sell today too. So that’s good.

Gassylady · 26/08/2022 21:56

Quick check in this week - yet more worn socks into rag bag. Several pairs mens shorts for charity bag as husband has decided his waist will never be that size again. He also wanted to check cloak cupboard again was miffed to discover at least two thirds are his😂

WildBlueAndDitzy · 28/08/2022 01:16

Today's out: half a bag of compost which was attracting tiny flies for some reason.

ememem84 · 28/08/2022 10:02

Need to sort out some stuff today.

ebay items packaged up ready for posting
will take recycling to the recycling place. Also need to take ds’ old bed to the tip.

ememem84 · 28/08/2022 14:47

Used up a perfume yesterday. Just a sample. But it’s done. Yay. Also threw out packaging of make up and some old minging mascara.

today have binned three pairs of dds shoes which are too small. Have sorted a bag of her things for charity. Two dresses from my wardrobe have gone.

bubble wands have been binned - mostly empty.

kids drawings gone.

binned some mangly bananas the last of dhs birthday cake and emptied the last of the wine box.

small steps. But.

LivingInaBuildingSite · 28/08/2022 15:44

Back from two weeks away, currently surrounded by laundry - despite doing several loads while away, how does that work?!

have been buying new uniform, shoes, bags, etc. and haven’t managed to get rid of much at all yet.

on holiday did bin 2 broken inflatables but replaced one.
binned an old hat I hated wearing but only after I’d bought a replacement. So not much in the way of progress.

house feels like chaos still, will need a big push once the DC are back in school I think.

ememem84 · 28/08/2022 19:58

Four cot bed mattress protectors and sheets to be put in charity bag.

also sorted the bathroom cabinet while dd was in the bath. Binned a lot.

WildBlueAndDitzy · 28/08/2022 20:56

Today's outs: one baby dress and trousers

I've been weeding out my summer clothes as the season progresses and I damaged things or decided I hated them for whatever reason. I noticed today, having washed and dried the last of it ready to put away, and realised my summer wardrobe has been halved from what it was at the start of the season. Quite pleased with that.

Spiders seems to be everywhere lately and I'm sort of wishing I was a full on minimalist so they had nowhere to hide. Chasing them around the home has made me realise I've probably got more stuff than I'll use up before I've died of old age. Which has kind of shocked me a bit. It's given my inner sloth a shake up, I can't sit around mouldering away on the sofa when I have all these great things to do/use/wear.

We’re away for 7 weeks over Christmas. I’m not even going to think about laundry after that trip!

thabkfully We’re going to NZ so summer clothes mostly. But still. Ack. Laundry.

I’ve sorted out cardboard out today too so it looks less messy. Will be collected Tuesday (I hope!).

SquirrelFan · 29/08/2022 08:08

@WildBlueAndDitzy what a great revelation!
I've dropped off the thread but trying not buy things - sometimes that's the best I can do! But have cleared out the 'pen mug' - many are going to work (a school) and some went in the bin. Small wins! Thanks for the inspiration, everyone.

EllieQ · 29/08/2022 08:32

Not much done this week as although DH and I both had the week off, PIL were visiting so we were busy. We did the usual last-minute tidy/ hiding things upstairs, so I felt so frustrated with myself for the house being the way it is. And it is so hard for me to get time to do any proper decluttering. I won’t suddenly have free time when DD is back at school because I’ll be working (just like I have been for most of the holidays) 😞

Anyway. Got rid of three felt tip pens that didn’t work yesterday. Lots of school uniform in, including new school shoes. I need to sort through what I’ve got and find places for everything, and bag up old school uniform to take into school when term starts.

ememem84 · 29/08/2022 14:09

Been through the part of the wardrobe where I keep my dresses. 7 gone in charity bag. I just haven’t worn them so seems silly to keep them. I’m determined to wear them all.

the ones I’ve kept are either for events coming up, or I can dress up or down. With Trainers or wedges for work, or with tights and boots. With polo necks underneath or a slouchy jumper over the top.

ememem84 · 29/08/2022 14:12

@EllieQ ive started the school uniform laundry. Mine start reception next week and also at the school preschool so logo’s everywhere. It’s all on the line now so when it’s dry tonight I can do the labelling and hanging up. I figured if I wash first it won’t be that stiff itchy newish feel.

also binned a cup of dds. She’s insistent she needs a sippy cup still. She doesn’t. She needs to use a proper cup. So out of sight:… also it was filthy.

I gave nappy bin inserts to my gym instructor this week. She’s expecting later in the year and I have no need for them.

Vinorosso74 · 29/08/2022 15:46

We were away last week so nothing achieved. Several ins yesterday as DD needed some new clothes. I've also realised her and I need some new hangers, she has several too small and I've broken a few recently.
DP and I have done some gardening today so outdoor decluttering: pruning done, weeds removed and garden storage box sorted out (got rid of 4 balls, a broken kids watering can, 2 water pistols, several plant labels and 6 small pots).

EducatingArti · 29/08/2022 17:41

I've got rid of 2 t shirts I didn't really wear ( but bought myself a new one on holiday on the understanding I got rid of 2) plus a top and a shirt I don't really wear. Also binned an old mini cool bag that had stains and that I don't use! Think I will get somewhere eventually but it is slow progress!
