Feeling like crap here. Thought I had covid as ticked every box for the symptoms. But according to pcr test it’s a negative for covid. So I have a random virus. Woooo!

Binned three minging old oven mits today. And a jumper which had been stained.

Wam90 · 26/01/2022 21:25

@Turtleoo I’ve sold some old toys and wax melts over the last couple of days. It’s just the faff of uploading it to different places but I’ve sold so much more on there than marketplace! Good luck!

Sorry to hear some of you are under the weather - get well soon!

Just finished for the day - I've photographed and listed quite a few items on VInted and ebay and packaged up a couple of things that have sold. Surprisingly I seem to be doing better on ebay than VInted. Anyone got tips on how to be a better VInted seller?

Had a chat with DH yesterday and he has now taken all the CDs off to his office and agreed to go through them and work out what he wants to keep and what can go. Might try an app to see if any of the rejects are worth anything. (Probably not as mainly classical and church music.) He was out this evening so I have gone through the small desk in the sitting room and thrown out literally dozens of takeaway menus and coin bags from the foreign currency he has for business trips. Everything that was in the desk is now in one of two drawers in the big chest I decluttered yesterday, the bin, a charity bag or a carrier bag for DH to go through. So he can now fill the desk with CDs to his hearts content.

Feeling very pleased with myself. However I still have more things to go through in the evening dress cupboard and DH has found yet more of my sewing stuff in the garage (and my sewing cupboard has been full since November Hmm). I suspect it is revenge for the CDs.

I have a small 5 drawer unit filled with hats, scarves of various sorts, gloves and swimsuits. I can see what's in there now having decluttered 5 wooly hats and 6 knitted scarves, which filled a carrier bag entirely, so that's being dropped at the clothing bank tonight. Visually the room looks no different because it was all hidden from sight, but I'm counting it as a success anyway.

EllieQ · 26/01/2022 22:14

Another bag of textiles for recycling (sorted out back in the autumn Blush) gone into the charity bank today.

Recycling day today so the stack of paper and cardboard from over Xmas has finally gone (we’d missed the last couple of collections due to being ill). Not really decluttering, but I was glad to see it go!

TruffleNoir · 26/01/2022 23:27

An out yesterday and today, both toys I'd given up on anyone buying as had them listed on Facebook market place most of the month!

@turtleoo I wondered if it was quiet because people are skint at the moment. Maybe people are getting paid this week and that's why I've had some interest!

Determined to get my bum into gear for getting Vinted set up properly and buy some packaging!!

WildPoinsettia · 26/01/2022 23:47

I found my sales on marketplace dropped off a cliff once the shops reopened after lockdown. A combination of people only being able to get stuff second hand with shops shut and people not having gone out anywhere so having lots of spending money saved for when shops opened. I saw posts on SM at the time along the lines of "great where shall we have a spending spree" and suddenly there were no takers for my bits and bobs. I gave up advertising and everything is being donated, recycled or binned now.

Turtleoo · 27/01/2022 07:43

Yes it's a shame people aren't buying so much on FB. I always price low but most items I'm not getting even one message about. Trouble with eBay/vinted is that there's not a post office walkable from mine, the hermes shop is across town and with a toddler it's a hassle to park, get out the car, get him to queue in the shop without running off. I do it for items that are larger value but for things only worth a few £ I don't bother as I don't want to be doing multiple trips so I just give them away.

I am holding onto a load of maternity clothes though that I can't bear to let go for free. I was so desperate for second hand maternity when I was pregnant, and I've had my stuff listed in £5 bundles on eBay and FB several times and no interest. I can't understand why as they are bargains. I might try Vinted for these.

seperatedmum · 27/01/2022 10:50

I just realized I put the 'wrong' charity bag out; it was one with a collection date that's passed so I carried on filling it with the intention to then just put the relevant bag on top iyswim so they probably won't take it now. definitely got the confusion of Covid, emailed younger 2's school two different things too 😵‍💫

SingToTheSky · 27/01/2022 11:09

I haven’t used Facebook at all this year really but I’m really hoping I can at least shift some stuff on my own page (lots of books to go and lots of home educating friends, usually does well for that sort of thing).

Finally got rid of a load of old clothes yesterday to rags recycling. Not much else happening here.

SydneyCarton · 27/01/2022 11:40

Have put together a bag for recycling - old trainers, PJs, some holey tea towels - and hopefully will get out today to get rid of it, although an annoying crop of meetings have just dropped into my diary until 3pm Hmm

Dinosauraddict · 27/01/2022 12:24

Updating for yesterday as just been so busy: I dropped 2 bags of stuff at the charity shop, took 2 dresses to PO to return, unsubscribed from more mailing lists, got rid of another 25 dvd cases, gave 1 bag of misc stuff and a large light to my cleaner, and someone collected 4 picture frames. Not a bad day.

8stone13 · 27/01/2022 15:07

A stack of quality unused skincare has just been listed on a FB group that deals in specific brands so 🤞🏻 for sales

well it went 👍🏽
Turtleoo · 27/01/2022 16:16

Yay Seperatedmum!

Turtleoo · 27/01/2022 16:18

3 pairs of shoes from the shoe cupboard today, which is only scratching the surface of what I need to declutter in there, but it's a start.

Two things from Olio that have been up for ages were requested this afternoon and should be collected shortly so feels good to get those out of the house.

I didn't get round the to rest of the bookcase though 😔

LivingDeadGirlUK · 27/01/2022 17:15

Another 3 Vinted sales packed and posted! It can be a bit of a slow burner but as there are no fees I'm happy to let it tick along until something sells.

londonmummy1966 · 27/01/2022 20:18

Worked my way through one large box and two IKEA bags of sewing stuff. Some in the cupboard, some to sell, a lot for textile recycling and some for the charity shop. Dropped the latter off. It wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be. It also freed up a number of plastic boxes that can be used by DC to take food back to school/college.

Two ebay sales in the post as well.

Dinosauraddict · 27/01/2022 21:34

Very slow day here today. Got rid of one pair of socks, unsubscribed from some mailing lists, and DH dropped off a large ride on toy that DS has never liked at nursery for their baby room.

FurBabyMum02 · 27/01/2022 22:20

Went through the suitcases and found loads of rubbish that's 'spare' and never used so off it went keeping only my refill mini pots for holiday toiletries felt like alot gone from a tiny area -8x plastic packets, 1x holey socks, 4x wash bags, 1x weekend bag, 2x compacts, 1x decorative pot, 2x bath scrunchies, 3x razors, 1x earplugs, 18x travel size bottles.

WildPoinsettia · 28/01/2022 01:02

@Turtleoo there's always Preloved too, no fees on there and you don't have to accept PayPal if you don't want to. Its slow because the search feature is clunky and the results are hit-and-miss, so sales often come from people who regularly use the site browsing and spotting your thing. I've had quite a bit of success on there over the years.

@Dinosauraddict don't feel bad at least you did something.

8stone13 · 28/01/2022 09:20

I got a sale on a FB group in under a minute yesterday! I must tot up my profits, it must be over £500 now in about 3 weeks 😬

It's motivating me to list more stuff...

seperatedmum · 28/01/2022 16:25

ended up having a time pressured look for PE kit which was exactly where I said it was and clearing some stuff out for NDN/uniform sale/cousins/younger children but it was no fun because of the circumstances 🤧

Dinosauraddict · 29/01/2022 04:54

Updating for yesterday which was a good declutter day. DH was a star, he cleared out a carrier bag of his clothes for charity and a whole black sack of old socks/underwear for the bin. I got rid of 1 pair of jeans and cleared out my holiday bag so got rid of 1 pack of playing cards, 1 magnet, 1 hairband, 1 sweet and 4 pens. I also threw out a knife block and some ice lolly moulds, unsubscribed from more mailing lists, put a whole carrier bag of shoes in a 'to-go' bag, packed up 2 other bags for the charity shop which I'm hoping to drop off later today (and clears a whole box from my dining room). Via facebay I also had a painting, 2 ornaments and a pair of curtains collected.
