Another dump trip in the weekend for DH , he also took some of the foodbank load to a collection point at Waitrose .
Steadily adding bits and pieces to the total which is nearing 250 . Soon hopefully decluttering the 25 or so temp paper blinds when shutters go in . Just had to cancel them for thu since finally DD has covid . She’s the first of us and the only unvaccinated one . I’m a bit worried about getting it myself due to my poor health and steroids . She’s not too ill just has a bit of a temperature. Hopefully will be better by next week .
I’ve done folding the clean laundry mountain and got some outs from that . I’m yet to make it back to the attic I’ve been feeling down and everyday stuff and admin has taken my energy and time .
Something really positive just happened ; we got back the extra stamp duty we had to pay when selling our own house and buying this one . It’s a big amount and added to it the rental deposit which we finally got nearly all back as well we will be able to pay the shutters which were a fortune on so many windows , and the landscaping or most of it at least !
After my bad health news and DD covid it’s so nice to have something good happen .
I will have to reschedule a lot of app and have other admin and my eyes are just closing all day so I don’t expect to go up to day either .

I've dealt with more paperwork today, I think we are up to 2008! Also got a load of cardboard from the bedrooms out into the recycling.

I know stuff is leaving the house but I do feel a bit like we are just moving problem areas around. I assume it will get better as clutter slowly either finds a home or get removed.

Dinosauraddict · 18/01/2022 20:19

Not a huge amount today on the decluttering side from me (I was busy on the organising side instead) but I have got rid of 3 toys, an anti-escape harness (which DS escapes) and I accidentally broke a Tupperware lid so both lid and tub went in bin! I also unsubscribed from more mailing list. No idea how many more to go...!

FurBabyMum02 · 18/01/2022 21:28

2 days of updates today, nothing out yesterday but did get through the pile of shredding and now have 2 bin bags of shredded paper due to go to charity for animal bedding. Good day today though 29 birthday and anniversary cards recycled, for some reason i can never just get rid when they come down I have to keep them a couple of months, why?!, 1 pack of stinky "unscented" baby wipes, old nappy caddy, cat bed (cardboard box they have destroyed and no longer use), old cat toy, 11 teddies from my childhood (just kept the 9 that I love which still sounds alot but they fit lovely on a little floating shelf now, there are more in a cupboard to go through though).

Starting on the living room next which is both exciting and daunting as it's a total mess. 103 items out so far but some in today as I bought key tags to label all the spare keys so no longer need to try 5 before you find the right 1 to get into the garden!

SuperDiaperBaby · 18/01/2022 21:40

2 cushions bought on a weekend away with friends many years ago - not comfortable anymore not do they match the sofa we now have so out.

IncessantNameChanger · 18/01/2022 22:45

Nothing to report here as uber sressed still. I have mentally decluttered some things from my wardrobe but I need to be realistic I'm not in the headspace this week. The boxes are here to Stacey soloman one room ( dds room because its tiny, is a dumping ground and dd sleeps in our room anyway)

londonmummy1966 · 19/01/2022 00:45

@LivingDeadGirlUK - I know how you feel - I felt that too but at the end of the last thread I went back and looked over my daily reports of what I'd ditched and it came to a huge amount which I posted on 31 December just to prove what it all adds up to.... A little bit everyday does mount up.

Today I just didn't feel it so I did relatively little. One Thrift+ bag filled and ready to go tomorrow and 2 items listed on ebay and vinted. Fingers crossed....

ememem84 · 19/01/2022 06:31

Well done @IncessantNameChanger re the ehcp.

Went through the bathroom cabinet last night while kids in the bath and got rid of a few bits.

Dd broke a plate. She’s 2.5 and had a thing about carrying things back into the kitchen when we’re done with them. She dropped a dinner plate last night. And cut her hand in the process. Poor baby.

She’s ok. And the plate is one less to wash up.

EllieQ · 19/01/2022 07:47

That’s great news about the EHCP @IncessantNameChanger

I haven’t done any more decluttering, but wanted to report that DH had got rid of several of his old work shirts after he splashed out on several new ones before Xmas. He can be reluctant about decluttering so I was pleased he stuck to ‘one in, one out’ Smile

8stone13 · 19/01/2022 09:22

I've just put a load of clothes out in one of those charity bags that come through the door. I stopped doing it for a while as they never came to collect them when they said they would, then they'd get rained on, & I'd end up having to deal with a soggy bag 😒 But I've decided to try today - I've double bagged it so if it rains I can remove the outer bag & bin that!

8stone13 · 19/01/2022 09:31

The charity bag has just been collected 😀👏🏻

seperatedmum · 19/01/2022 13:03

work taking the piss massively feeling sad but one very broken gym bottle out today. hope there'll be more afterwards

SingToTheSky · 19/01/2022 13:10

Excellent about the EHCP!

8 items about to leave the house. Friend saw an ad asking for old blankets and towels for a cat sanctuary so she’s picking ours up on the way to donate hers. Found 5 towels (keeping one stained one for hair dying), a fluffy blanket with a frayed corner, and two of the kids’ old fleecy character blankets that aren’t really warm. Hurrah.

SuperDiaperBaby · 19/01/2022 20:14

Started on a shelf of cassettes that are not listened to but I had kept just in case. Bagged the first lot for charity shop having checked they still take tapes.

stealthninjamum · 19/01/2022 21:05

separatedmum sorry to hear about work. Hope you’re ok now.

I just put 11 pairs of knickers in a rag bag. She still has 11 left, I think that’s enough. She has a hanging thing in her wardrobe with pockets for her knickers and socks and what with all the sock decluttering I’ve done recently it’s only half full. It’s fantastic knowing everything fits.

8stone13 · 19/01/2022 21:42

I sold two bottles of ink to a fellow fountain pen collector today, & have been paid for another eBay sale so that's all going in the post tomorrow.

I cleared my breakfast bar as it had things on it that can now go in either my new filing system in my home office, or in my bureau as a lot of what was in there is now in the office. I've actually got three drawers in my sideboard completely free now. It's amazing to have space. I'm not filling it, just moving things around, everything fits well, nothing is crammed in, which reduces the stress in itself I find. I don't think the breakfast bar in my kitchen has been clear since I bought the house in 2005!

ememem84 · 19/01/2022 22:01

A radio
Two glass bottles
Glass jars
Some old skalextric track of ds’ which is broken
Kids art

All gone. Yay!

Tomorrow am returning a parcel

Namechangesagain · 19/01/2022 22:14

Haven't got anything done in the last week as my anxiety has been awful so I've just been sat in a pit but have bounced back today and got rid of the pushchair that's never used,

Decluttered the kitchen of shite that dh has just abandoned
Sorted the dog basket out and got rid of the puppy harnesses and lead etc. Made her a doggy toy box
Cleared out all the old body creams in the bathroom, and am now relaxing in the bath

londonmummy1966 · 20/01/2022 00:41

Not much done today as I've had both the vaccine centre and a committee meeting. However I did manage to drop off a couple of swimming towels with one of my neighbours who wanted them for her daughter and have sold an item on Vinted to go tomorrow.

Also hosting the committee meeting meant DH had to remove the boxes of CDs from the sitting room to his study....

Pineappleapple · 20/01/2022 04:21

Incessant, that's really good it's been awarded, bet you are relieved.
I'm a page behind on the thread, will catch up later.
I'm exhausted here, life has got in the way of decluttering, and I was doing so well! Don't want this to be like other times when I have a blitz then stop, really do want our home to be easier for us.
I have two small carrier bags ready for the charity shop so perhaps I should try and get those out today. Would normally wait until I have another. Or maybe a tip run this afternoon if OH can help me put a small cupboard in the car. Feel I need a win to get me back on track.

Dinosauraddict · 20/01/2022 06:22

Well done on the kitchen breakfast bar @8stone13 !! I was out most of yesterday, but I took one bag of stuff to the charity shop and gave one bag of stuff to a friend for her DC so every little helps.

8stone13 · 20/01/2022 09:00

A close friend is a doctor who runs a service for vulnerable women & she's asking for items of clothing & toiletries so I've sorted a load out for her which has also given me more room. I went through the remaining toiletries & put all the mostly used stuff in my bathroom & en suite & am actually using it up. It's mainly smaller sizes of products that I take away on a trip then bring back half finished, I never take them on the next trip as I know there won't be enough to last so they just sit in a cosmetics bag in a drawer irritating me 😀

pollyannaperspective · 20/01/2022 09:40

Namechange if the charity bags drop off is a simple task then do that. It will be a job done.
Incessant having the EHCP for your DC will have been a challenge I'm sure - many congratulations on navigating that system and your success. What a fantastic mum you are to fight so fiercely for your DCs.

Yesterday was Hall cupboard day. Found a second charity bag started by DC so added a GHD hairdryer to it that DC has also left for donation and am dropping in to charity shop later today.
Today has been sorting the linen store on the landing. 3 sets for a double bed and one single set extracted. That still leaves me with a change for our bed, a set on each of the other beds and two spares for the sofabeds - all these beds are now only used for occasional guests or when the DC are home. Will try to donate to charity shop today if they will dis-apply their current 'two bags' only rule.

I will add that these items have been shifted about by me every Christmas (when we most have visitors/all beds in use) for several years. Each year I have said I will sort through before putting them away again and each year I have just rammed them back in after they have sat on top of the storage unit for days (weeks even!). So this declutter win has been a long time in gestation.

Have a positive one item de-cluttered day.

stealthninjamum · 20/01/2022 10:35

More knickers in the rag bag. Yesterday was dd2s, today were dd1s. I have found 9 that she says are too small and I’m sure they were a pack of 10 so one is floating around somewhere. She still has about ten, probably more. I am going to get better at throwing things out when I buy new things.

IncessantNameChanger · 20/01/2022 11:35

I'm doing my wardrobe today. Really 50 things need to go to get things comfortably back in. I have sorted a pile to go but I need to let it leave! I'm going to have lunch then count things into a charity bag then go to charity. I was doing ok but spent a hour and a half on it so now I want to keep it all!
