Welcome fledglings old and new, to April's Flylady thread!

For any newbies who have stumbled across us, we are following Flylady’s housework system which is based around routines and short bursts of activity to try to keep our houses and lives in order. (Sometimes we follow it more loosely than others). Feel free to join us, the more the merrier! We post our ‘ta da’ lists for motivation (no matter how long or short), and enjoy some random chatter along the way.

The link to Flylady’s ‘flying lessons’ is here Flying Lessons. Have a read, and if you have any questions, just ask. You can sign up for emails but be warned there are lots so most of us rapidly unsubscribed.

I’ll be posting links daily to keep us all on track. Jump in wherever you are, remember you are never behind.

This is a long running thread and we’ve developed some lingo along the way:
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry (hasn’t paid a visit to me for a while)
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod (we can be gentle if required)
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low, we are on strike, or we need a rest and some TLC

KCC - we don't do so many of these now, but these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Thanks to Up for guiding us gently through March Flowers.

And off we go into April.

waders- well done for doing the long drive! The visual assessment sounds interesting!

halfhope · 15/04/2021 21:17

Red happy anniversary - much happiness wished.
Dancing - well done on getting your eyes checked and good on you for getting your cv done - wishing you all the best.

waders - well done on the drive too.

I've had a three day online conference so been busy with that. also had negative covid test in anticipation of outpatient procedure on my lip tomorrow. I've been waiting an age to be able to get the lump removed so delighted to finally be making my way to the unit. I'm a bit nervous to be honest and I don't know why.

halfhope · 15/04/2021 21:18

and I'm getting my hair cut next tuesday - yay!

Goodluck on your procedure today...hope it all goes well.
Haircut is definatrly something to look forward too!

waders- 😁

SingToTheSky · 16/04/2021 04:39

Morning. Sort of. Woken up by Cagletini an hour ago as somehow, despite actually still wearing a nappy (she usually wakes up in the night and takes it off) she managed to get the bed wet Hmm and now I can’t get back to sleep.

YesTaDa
🟣hung up a couple of non TD things
🟠phone call with new work coach
🟣emailed current and previous tutor about different things
🟠phoned bus pass people (need to do this again today though)
🟣emailed new work coach with info she needed
🟠wrote email to hopefully get a funded second hand desktop via the jobcentre (fingers crossed please folks, doing all my training and studying is proving very difficult without!)
🟣arranged to practise my presentation with a friend next week
🟠put dryer on

The day started off well but went a bit flat! Oops.

Going to put the next Parks and Recreation on and then maybe I can sleep after that.

Redsquirrel5 · 16/04/2021 05:24

Hope you get some more sleep Sing yuk for having to change bed linen in middle of the night and to soggy patches. Don’t miss that.

Dancing 🤞🏻For the job. Well done for completing cv and also for getting your eyes checked. So important. Teacher and I noticed a change in a pupils eye and insisted to grandma he needed to be seen that day. Thank goodness. She listened another day and he would have been blind. He is now unfortunately but it saved his sister’s sight. Turns out the family have a rare hereditary gene and condition when they all were tested they discovered three out of four with it. Had forgotten about that till now. They would all be in 20’s now. Teacher still sees them occasionally through her church. So important to be checked. Glad you went and that you were seen quickly.

Look forward to the haircut half
Waders 🤣

We had a take away Nepalese curry it was delicious. Thanks for the good wishes.

SingToTheSky · 16/04/2021 06:27

Wow that’s scary red eyes are def not to be delayed in checking. Glad you got that appt dancing and hope they do all the bloods etc soon 💐 (sorry if I missed it)

Hope you’re feeling ok. Whatever happens with the job I’m sure it’ll be for the best and there are always other options. As a fellow “person with crappy health needing a job” I am always on the end of a PM 💐

I didn’t get back to sleep Hmm I was thinking about popping into town today, but I’ll see how tired I am later. TBH I would love to help some charity shops shift some of their stock :o so I’ll get some cash out and look for books for Cagletini. Might be a nice little slice of normality!

Def got some admin to do as well. Sigh.

SingToTheSky · 16/04/2021 06:31

Also I’ve decided that as of next week we really need to get back to using the diary and the weekly planner board thing by the front door. Back to school/nursery/home ed, lots of appts coming up and plenty of clubs starting up again properly.

Dancingtomusic · 16/04/2021 07:40

Morning
Sing- oh no to changing wet sheets in the night!
Red - goodness, about the little boy in your class. So good his mum got him and his siblings checked.

Cudnt settle last night 10.30pm onwards...so just drifted in and out of awake/sleep.

shipsandgiggles · 16/04/2021 07:49

Morning! Thank you all for your birthday messages for DD yesterday, she had a really great day. After nursery we went to the cafe and she had cake and a milkshake. Then we went to my DM’s house and she had a bouncy castle in the garden for her (pic attached). We finished the day with chips outside our boat. She’s a very lucky little girl.

Happy Anniversary for yesterday red I hope you had a lovely day!

dancing I’m glad you managed to get to the bottom of what was causing the issues with your eyes!. Well done on the CV, you’re doing brilliantly.

It was terrifying waders I was always scared of giving birth vaginally so was booked in for a c-section and everything. It happened so fast that I didn’t really have time to panic, it was only after she was born that the reality set in. It did make me want a home birth next time though as I think the comfort of being at home relaxed me a lot considering the circumstances. I’m glad your DS’s rest went well!

I’m sorry that the eating disorder clinic don’t seem to be helping your DD very much zoo💐

Very exciting about your haircut hope! Good luck today!

Sorry about having to change wet bedding sing!

Off to work now, will catch up later!

shipsandgiggles · 16/04/2021 07:49

Oops forgot pic

Fledglings are Flying into April, there's no fooling us.......
SingToTheSky · 16/04/2021 08:06

Aww cute pic ships love her outfit!

I still couldn’t sleep, I just watched Netflix. So I still feel fairly rested. I should really try using early starts to be more productive but I always feel a bit resentful 😳

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/04/2021 08:20

To do list
yeah still the same as yesterday but with yet more added.

I took a mental health day and went for a hike. Needless to say i need a body health day today as every muscle hates me Grin

halfhope · 16/04/2021 09:03

For those of you with feline overlords...

halfhope · 16/04/2021 09:03

I'm off to get my own cone of shame now.

SingToTheSky · 16/04/2021 09:26

That’s brilliant hope :o

I have cleaned the chalkboard. All it had was a bit in the notes section but now it’s nice and clean ready for the start of term!

I was wondering if we might all go into town together (I don’t think we’ve done that in over a year) but I’m not sure how the queues will be, and DH needs a haircut too. The town park only opened between lockdowns last year and has been insanely busy and popular since, so I don’t think that would be a good place to wait really.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2021 10:26

Iceisnice · 16/04/2021 10:37

Hello everyone! Well I started really well this week but then disaster struck... yesterday my eldest DD tripped on our stairs and put her tip teeth through her lip. You can imagine the blood... took her to the dentist to get her mouth and teeth checked out and although the teeth and gums have trauma they should be ok. Her poor lip though, so sore and swollen and she has hardly eaten anything. Hope you are all well, I am hoping to crack on with the housework later.

halfhope · 16/04/2021 11:44

zoo I can just imagine the windmill of claws!

Ice she has my every sympathy. There are lots of blood vessels in the lip but the good news is that the area heals quickly. I'm all done now, couple of stitches in. Vaccine appt arrived for DH and me - end of april

EventuallyDistracted · 16/04/2021 11:56

Oh no Ice, poor DD. Glad the damage doesn't sound as though it will be lasting.

Hope - glad you have been treated too.

Zoo - we have one "windmill of claws" and one "just say no" cat when it comes to tabletting. They are both very adept at pretending they've swallowed it and spitting it back out a minute later too.

Ships - DD's birthday sounded perfect.

Tada!

1st LOL on line, second about to go on line, 3rd about to go in machine (sheets and towels today).
Breadmaking session - sourdough underway for tomorrow, milk rolls underway for today
Have spent about two hours coaching DS for his exam (I think I'd stand a pretty good chance at passing myself now).
Need to go and do a few other jobs

Ed- breadmaking sounds wonderful!

ice- oh no, hope your poor Dd is ok?

Zoo- Sending you a huge hug. Putting comfy soft chairs in the corner for you to come a rest with cosy blankets. Hot tea and biscuits.

Half- great your procedure has been done. Hope its not too painful!

Ships- lovely picture of your dd in the bouncy castle!

Sing- Its good you got the blackboard out and ready. I wonder if town is busy too. Going to the opticians on Wed has left me chirpy and happy. I must be really affected by all this lockdown goings on!

Iceisnice · 16/04/2021 12:57

Thank you @EventuallyDistracted, @halfhope and @Dancingtomusic. Dd is ok, very sore and swollen, was the stuff of nightmares - the blood was immense and took ages to stop. Dd has managed to get a kids comic, new dress, toy doll and some garden games out of me so far so she is on the mend! (Naturally youngest DD has also had a comic, dress and doll.... so much for decluttering!)
