Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Sorry to hear this SC, get well soon. Good luck at the doctor's Cag.

DS has gone to school. I actually turned back with him at the school gate yesterday as it was becoming clear that he wasn't quite well. Miles behind with work.

What a grey day here. Started wrapping Hannukah and Christmas gifts.

Cagliostro · 06/11/2018 10:36

Doctor was a mixed bag. I think I should’ve booked a double app. She reckons possible infection so getting a sample in tomorrow then if that comes back clear she will send me for scan. Didn’t have time to discuss mood properly and she said the ADs I was on before may be an issue for BFing, but they are definitely the ones I was on after DS (sertraline). I do think I want to try something else though. Anyway next app not till 3rd Dec!

Collected antibiotics for tooth and had a sneaky Christmas toastie and Black Forest hot chocolate before heading home. Feeling festive! :o

Cagliostro · 06/11/2018 10:40

MsF, don’t suppose you can recommend any good books about the stories of Passover and Hanukkah? :) The Caglets love learning about religion now, we are following a course of RE books but want to supplement it. On Diwali currently which is good timing!

Feel so behind though. Have told the Caglets, whose friend is here, that not every Tuesday will be a free play day - basically I’ve agreed to have friend round weekly to give mum a break (complicated issues with their other child) and the plan long term is to do some home ed with her too - this benefits all of us as my two will really benefit from the group learning. But between tooth stuff and Halloween we haven’t managed anything yet.

MsForestierinParis · 06/11/2018 11:32

Cag I don't know of any but I'll text a friend. Hannukah and early Advent coincide this year. My friend makes fabulous apple Kugel so I must get the recipe from her too!

The haar has come in up here. It's like being in a Halloween movie, all foggy. Thoughts turning to toasties too!

I've been out for a walk. I'm carrying too many kilos, and this is before Christmas so I need to be sensible.

MsForestierinParis · 06/11/2018 12:44

Cag - what age range for the books on Passover, Hannukah? My friend's asking.

Cagliostro · 06/11/2018 12:47

Aw thanks Caglets are 9-11 :)

MsForestierinParis · 06/11/2018 12:58

She's at work but will get back to me later.

Ta da
Hung washing up
Folded some laundry but haven't put it away yet
Online food shop

Feel a bit demotivated tbh. I was going to make some naan breads to go with our curry tonight but now I can't really be bothered. Dinner is easy because the curry sauce was from the freezer so just need to add chicken and some veg. I really must get on top of the housework though it all seems to be getting out of control at the minute. Sorry, that turned into a whinge didn't it!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/11/2018 16:26

Grin well by under control I mean some slightly damp so in airing cupboard, some hand washing drying elsewhere, one load in washer waiting to go on and one load in the dryer probably finished by now. Not all put away by any means!

Oh no foxes, don’t worry, I think this thread is great for a therapeutic whinge every so often Smile.

HillsBesideTheSea · 06/11/2018 17:35

father christmas in this house is a swear word and has been for a very long time. The joys of a black and white aspie who applied rules that you would to a normal person to FC and came to the conclusion you would if a normal person did what FC does. We have had to ask the round table not to call when they do their santa sleigh and collect, although after the song ds sang at them the other year I think secretly they are glad to be spared that.

felt like crap last night, and all day. Not tired but feeling exhausted and everything hurts alot. Which is a problem. My solution is to do paper based book work tonight and then tomo hit the pain killers and caffiene and tackle the practical stuff like laundry. Just greatful that tea is a ping in oven and go kinda meal. Too tired and hurting to be assed to cook.

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/11/2018 18:08

I need to start cooking again..lil zoo and D's on sandwiches with cherry tomatoes and peppers and an apple put oven on to roast some frozen veg for dd2 as she's permanently starving and comfort eating herself towards a bigger dress size so I feel I need to at least TRY and fill her up with healthier stuff....

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/11/2018 20:01

Just saw pictures of ‘laundry pile Christmas trees’ and thought of all of you!

SassitudeandSparkle · 06/11/2018 21:19

Briefly passing by here - far too little flying (although I did see a photo of the laundry pile trees on a FB group, perhaps it was the FL UK Christmas one?

Wrap up warm poorly fledglings . I had gastric flu years ago and was really poorly, utterly hideous! Do you want me to do the links tonight?

Better get DD in the bath, she's fighting off a cold and a different injury as well - needs a couple of weeks off any strenuous activity so that's all the prepaid dance lessons gone for a bit!

Back later

Cagliostro · 06/11/2018 22:49

Feel like my head is in a vice. Actually two, one on my temples and one on my jaw. Fun times. Have taken my first AB.

Still got Tesco shopping to do

Staringcoat · 06/11/2018 22:56

Thank you for kind wishes everyone; much appreciated

Whatever this virus is, it is really grim, and I feel very bad now for not being more sympathetic to dh. Should have known if it felled somone as stalwart as him that it was a bad one. I have spent the day in bed, went downstairs for an hour this evening and could hardly get back up the stairs, feel vso weak.

Meet thank you so much for doing links this morning!

Sass only just seen your kind offer but if you or anyone else could take tonight and/or for a few days, and it's not too much trouble, I would be much obliged. Feeling dizzy so avoiding screens!

G'night all and hope everyone ok.

Hope you recover quickly...do you think it is proper man flu?

Hills that made me laugh and wonder what sort of song she was singing to them!

Definitely sorcery. H. Grainier been helping out?

😇 smug face I have done tomorrow’s washing tonight!
There is a reason for this1. I have to work part of the day pm and
2. I will have no water for most of the day.
They are coming to strip out the kitchen tomorrow. We are paying for this. They are expecting to be there all day. DH took the tiles off and the shelves down last week. Tonight he decided he would take the cupboards to bits until I pointed out that that is precisely why they are coming because he didn’t want to do it. He has also moved the tape on the work top which told the Everhot people exactly where to put the cooker. He says he marked it on the wall but the mark is rubbish and he didn’t use a ruler so it is shite. I just restrained my self from running away. He is so bloody annoying at times. I have had a gin!
I went to the staff room today to make a drink and as no one was in decided to risk eating my lunch. Someone came in and SPOKE to me! She is supply and I was too embarrassed to ask her name as she has been there when I was off.
Ta da
Cleaned sink in bathroom.
Made bed
Turned out pile of washing and sorted. Put some away other for ironing basket.
That was before 🏫 school.
Pm
Sorted more washing. Two loads in the machine and drying on radiators.
Sorted some books. Rearrange DH s precarious pile of Pyrex and China.
Sorted some magazines and other stuff. Found something I had lost.

DH bought a new tyre which he blamed me for because some with a caravan forced me into side of road( hedge) and I went over unknown object. It was the back wheel only whereas while we away he went into a large hole and over something with both wheels on passenger side.

I have a book on Hanukkah Cags I will check contents and author.
We teach Judaism and Christianity in Yr 3&4. I know loads now. I have been to the synagogue four times too. Hoping to go to the Buddhist Centre soon. I have been there about four times.Been teaching it today. It is very interesting.
Morning off tomorrow. No lie in as house will be full of young men and one old pain in the butt. I have sausage rolls for them if they don’t disconnect the cooker too early.

Cagliostro · 07/11/2018 00:14

Gentle hugs sc

I’m curled up on the sofa with a hot water bottle on my face. Genuinely the worst headache I have ever had.

ta da
✅hosted play dates (very glad they’re of an age where this requires no parental input)
✅got DS to put his clothes away and do maths
✅made it to doctors on time, this meant a very fast walk as I was late leaving home after feeding baby, so I was knackered
✅collected meds and double checked they are ok for BF
✅went to tap class, and said goodbye to/got lots of photos with friends who are leaving soon
✅ordered Tesco

Tomorrow I have to get a sample dropped off to the GP as double checking I don’t have UTI (plan is if that’s clear then they’ll refer me for ultrasound on ovaries). See if Boots will fix the screw on DD1’s specs. Caglets have art, DH has doctors, then they have tae kwon do grading.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/11/2018 06:16

SCFlowerspointless trying to fight it .your body saying rest and anything else just prolongs things still trying to get this thru own thick skull

foxessocks · 07/11/2018 06:43

I need a kick up the bum today I must be more productive than last few days. Ds was up at 6 because he fell out of bed but we haven't got out of bed yet don't want to disturb dd. He's just looking at books next to me. As soon as I get up I'm going to get on with STUFF. I always have such grand ideas when I'm still lying in bed!
