Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

bower glad you sound a bit happier today, onwards and upwards as they say!

Cag sorry to hear you had such a rubbish nights sleep.

My morning didn't go quite to plan. First shop there was nowhere to park (the world and his wife seems to be shopping today!), then we went to Sainsbury's and got a few bits but ds being quite difficult so I suggested if he behaves in one more shop we'd go to the cafe. Went to the other shop to collect a parcel unfortunately it was a toy shop and toddlers and toy shops are not a good combination when you want to get in and out!! I let him look and play for a bit but then we had to go and he had such a tantrum...he was screaming the place down Blush got him on the car still screaming and then we got stuck in a huge traffic jam leaving. And no cafe!

Anyway, on a positive note - he is now asleep in his bed, my new coat arrived and I love it, I did at least get 50% or so of what I set out to achieve! And I've just had jam toast which has definitely made me feel better. And Brew

Phew. Sorry for the major rant there!

Ta da
Went to toddler group
Picked up a parcel
Got an easy dinner for me and dh tonight
Got a few new clothes (need to try them on in a minute)
Gave ds a cheese sandwich and milk for lunch and put him to bed
Dishwasher on

foxessocks · 30/11/2018 13:38

*in the car obviously not on the car!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/11/2018 13:43

Hi all, apologies, not caught up with the thread as busy day. Will start new thread before midnight and link it here, I won’t forget, don’t worry [santa]!

Staringcoat · 30/11/2018 14:24

Ta v muchly Toostressy! 💎

Sorry to hear about your stressful morning Foxes but yay to lovely new coat!

Oh poor you and poor Cagletini Cag let's hope you will be all clear of the lurgies by Christmas!

Hope trip out was fun Bower!

That sounds like a lot of driving Meet which must be tiring after work. How lovely that your DD is in a choir; I would love my DD to join one but she is being very "teen flounce" about it (even though I know she would secretly enjoy it). Enjoy the performances! And hope your DD has fun too!
And hope that the Xmas shopping is going/has gone well today!

Ta da:
walked the furry
emptied dw
hung up overnight washing
tidied kitchen
spoke to fortnightly ironing lady who turned up on wrong day but never mind!
accompanied dh to doc
spoke to farrier about foot trimming dhorse who reckons he would be better shoeless this winter and that we should let his hooves (like dinner plates) harden off.

took furry to dog groomer to have his locks trimmed; he loved it Grin

Just now emptying two last shelving units in play/tv room of toys and books so that it forever more now it just becomes a tv room Sad Sad. Might move piano in there though!

Expansive wing flaps to Honu Dani Festive* I've Hills Sass Steg, and to Zoo if you are lurking, and to everyone else I've missed!

For the record we refused
Think we are now labelled at one those families

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/11/2018 17:50

Oh you won't be the first Zoo it is the cheapest and easiest solution for them hence why they go down that route. Also it can start immediately unfortunately waiting lists for talking thearpy time stuff is often long.
CAMHS = can;t actually make hell stop.

Staringcoat · 30/11/2018 17:50

I don't know much about it Zoo but I would also be hesitant to give a child whose brain is still developing ads. Can you get a second opinion from somewhere?

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 30/11/2018 18:24

There is no where else if you can't afford private therapy SC
Doctors are only allowed refer DC to CAHMS,not treat child MH anymoreSad

Hills that acronym made me smile when I needed one most.will share that with dp

Staringcoat · 30/11/2018 18:43

Sorry I didn't realise CAMHS was the only option - that sounds crap sorry - I've read enough over the years to know how under-funded they are. Sad

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 30/11/2018 19:22

CAMHS actually stands for child and adolescent mental health service SC they are supposed to be the experts. It is a horrifically underfunded service and under resourced and under staffed. Around here the word CAMHS is followed and preceeded by cussing. Even by Ds.

Zoo in some areas there are child's charities that offer some limited services depending on the condition, might be worth having a bit of a look?

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/11/2018 19:28

this site might be useful Zoo - i have linked to a specific ish page but there are loads of other options that may well be far more appropriate.
Young minds might be helpful. Ime sometimes it is not about specific treatment but well timed advice and tips so they might be able to help assist - even if that is how to tackle the system to get the most appropriate help. Again, ime knowing how to work the system is often the trickiest and most important thing.

Good luck!

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/11/2018 19:30

It is not Always about specific

One day, One day I will not want an edit button to correct stupid mistakes. Not today, but one day!

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/11/2018 19:31

around here cahms is proceeded and followed by cussing
From the thread I have running in MH offering support to parents with anxious DC I'd say it's wide spread reaction!!

Will look into charity idea hills as always you offer hope in all areas(never will be more grateful than warm melted jelly cube trick.the bomb of all answers to whiney kids with sore throatsFlowers)

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/11/2018 19:35

I put our location in and only mind came up....

Will put out some feelers as our church does a well being cafe, and there are others in the area.mainly run from churches they signpost and may know if any local charity options
CheersFlowers

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/11/2018 19:36

Ps I totally get knowing how to work the system matters...Ive pretty much got hang my own MH needs.
Child services whole new ball of wax to negotiate!!

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/11/2018 19:56

Lava zoo it is more like red hot lava.
The one that I mentioned is national but based in london so might still be worth looking into as I know there are a number of charities that are based out of the capital but do offer support to all areas (ergo won't necessarily come up on an area specific search)

I wish you all the best with your kick butt sort all the things for ds!

Staringcoat · 30/11/2018 20:58

Zoo I think I may have posted about this charity the other day; dont know if any good for you but this is where they work.

I met a girl on a train who works for a charity I shall see if I can find it zoo Was this medical advice or the school who said Prozac. My previous GP commented on the Deputy Heads opinion that I should go on HRT, "And what medical qualifications does she have?"

Cags it is a special set exclusive to Nurture Group made by Lego. We had a full training day. You lead in with a sequence of activities which are timed and it is a useful tool for children who have difficulties expressing themselves, who have had a major trauma or child protection issues. We had to do it ourselves and it is very powerful. I have taken the set home so it doesn't get shoved in with someones box of Lego. Hopefully I will get to use it again.

Foxes I am making plans! Plans to escape!
Hills I would like a edit button for people that walk around spend five minutes then make a decision about interventions that they nothing about and affects children's lives.

Joins zoo in the shirky corner. Take yummy Baklava from Lidl, biscuits, wine, gin, whisky. vodka and chocolate - dark raspberry.

Bowerbird5 · 30/11/2018 21:54

Thank-you Toostressy (think that should be my name at present)
Wish I was more technical.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/11/2018 22:27

Bower, what a shame; that Lego group sounds wonderful Flowers.
