Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Ouch that sounds painful Cag go steady! Good your dh is there to support.

Lovely the witchy marmite sandwiches Zoo! Not sure I could be that creative at 6am!

Back in town. Dh is out at his fancy lunch. I am chomping on a solitary pikelet (can you hear the tiny violin music accompanying this post). I must say I was VERY tempted earlier to stay in the lovely countryside and leave it all to him tbh but don't think that would have been terribly kind given his current level of fatigue so ... having a wee moan on here instead as is my well worn custom Grin .... sorry! Grin

Great bakes zoo love them!

I have only just got home, we've been on school run, toddler group and then a committee meeting (and I now have paperwork to do) ds is in bed but not asleep. It's just been a mad rush and he doesn't cope well with mad rushes!! (Neither do I!) This week is just so busy. Just having my first cup of tea of the day how's that even possible?! GrinShock

stegosauruslady · 31/10/2018 13:55

Shiny new thread!

I'm full of cold! I haven't been ill at all for about two years and this sucks. Typically, I have therefore committed to taking a huge gang of kids trick or treating and then to a Halloween party! I am fortifying myself with woollies, chickpea daal and honey and lemon.

Yesterday we finally ordered our kitchen, being delivered on Tuesday ready for us to start fitting it on Wednesday. I am pretty excited about my new induction hob.

Ta daas...

Been shopping for slippers for everyone, jumpers for DP and a million dip dabs that turn tongues green.
Daal on for tea
Laundry
Helped DP declutter his clothes
Took decluttered stuff to charity shop
Organised baby sitter for a night out in a couple of weeks (yay!)
Dishes

foxessocks · 31/10/2018 16:43

Ta da
Dishwasher on
Washing on
Hoovered living room
Looked at paperwork / sorted a few things out
Quick tidy

Off to a Halloween party shortly with the dc! 🎃

Staringcoat · 31/10/2018 17:01

Gosh you've had such a full on day Foxes! Brew. Hope you get a moment to yourself to relax a bit later on!

Sorry you are feeling rotten Steg hope you can keep warm tonight and that you survive trick or treating and the party!

I've driven back and forth to station to pick up dd - then we had a mad hour where she tried on every piece of black clothing in her wardrobe and I helped her with fake blood make-up to perfect the grim reaper look Halloween Grin - and I've just been out again to drop her off to meet friends. Went to supermarket on way home because remembered at last minute that shops are shut tomorrow. I've told dh he's on collection duty tonight if he's not too tired!

Hope all mini fledglings who are going to parties or trick or treating tonight have fun! Halloween Smile

Meant to say Steg and Foxes think you are both hugely noble to facilitate Halloween fun for DC tonight in the circs! HaloHalo

Tadas

Picked up script from doc then iron pills from pharmacy
Sat with lil zoo who uncharacteristically wants cuddles rather than her usual lay quietly n read/colour/rest if don't feel well
Still hot, throats now very bright pink with thick red stripy veins and painful

Tea tonight
Jack o lantern carved peppers stuffed with mince/lentils
Had planned to make chocolate fairy cakes and ice with buttercream fork patterns and a marshmallow to look like gills and stalk(underside) of magical mushrooms but as not had time to facilitate that I'm giving lil zoo sorbet left in freezer and other two yogurt.not up to usual standards, but I did do packed lunches so I mustn't feel guilty!!

Staringcoat · 31/10/2018 17:21

Yep, you can't help having to re-prioritise when a DC is ill Zoo. Take it steady and hope Lil' Zoo feels better soon.

foxessocks · 31/10/2018 19:43

Yes hope dd feels better soon zoo and you don't come down with it.

Dh just putting the dc to bed (I've totally got out of bedtime duties as I had a glass of wine in the pub and have now decided all I want to do is sit on the sofa! Grin Wine). We had a lovely evening Halloween Smile just hope they aren't too tired in the morning!

HauntedForestier · 31/10/2018 19:54

No sweets left to hand out at chez Forestier so the pumpkin has been brought in. Was quite busy tonight here!

House had its electricity check and minor fixing needed to one area . Pretty much in good shape so happy with that!

Mind you pulling out the furniture for the check has highlighted that some deep cleaning is require.

Hope you all had a good Halloween. Wing flaps to all. or should that be cloak flaps and evil laugh?

HauntedForestier · 31/10/2018 19:55

poor lil zoo. hope she's better soon

Stilllivinginazoo · 31/10/2018 20:27

She ate her supper like a duck try swallow large hunk dry bread, poor bean.enjoyed sorbet after!D's declared doesnt eat peppers anymore and just ate filling

Clearly I belong in doghouse tonight.and to top it if my bloody tonsils are swelling.ha.fricking.marvellousHmm

Staringcoat · 31/10/2018 22:04

Glad it went well Foxes Smile

. I had picked up sweets in case we had callers tonight HauntedForestier ...but we didn't ..so I have been snaffling them all evening Blush.

Packed lots of kitchen this morning, visit to GP and flu injection. A bit of shopping and lunch.
Afternoon spent packing and tidying for small vistors. Only four this year so made us a steak and ate some sweets. We gave lovely apples as we have too many and pleased to say they were all well receive.
Feeling a bit sore around injection sight. Need to catch up on reading but hope everyone ok. Very tired so going to sleep again.

SassitudeandSparkle · 31/10/2018 23:04

Evening, DD had a good Halloween trick or treating with friends which was nice. We had a lot of callers, still a few sweets left though although I am doing my best to snaffle the choc ones.

zoo that is an awesome lunch! Cag I am watching your dental adventures with interest as DD needs some extractions in a couple of months. I am already planning soft food!

Morning all! Just gone 6 am here and I am packing the car again as we have early appt with dhorse. Dh is trying to coax the teen out of her cocoon by way of the "fry bacon in a large pan and allow aromas to waft upstairs while clattering about" technique (that's his story anyway!). Although I'm v glad dh is back, he is, it has to be said, infuriatingly incredibly cheery and loud and hungry in the morning.

Hey Hills! Does trail of sand indicate you managed to get away for quick break after all? Certainly hope so! Also hope rtn to work not too onerous!
