Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Staringcoat · 30/10/2018 11:59

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Also want to tidy up a bit tomorrow as my friend is coming over to sit with the kids while I go to my (hopefully) last dentist appt.

Other friends have said they can’t do Japanese for the moment which is a shame but also gives us Monday mornings back for now and lessens the pressure to keep up with someone else. Also have a social meet tomorrow.

Didn’t get much of my list done. Didn’t iron and therefore didn’t put clothes away( trufully there was some I could have done) however I did sweep the kitchen floor. Went to Mass, had salmon sandwich, went to pick up at station, went to Choir. Sang my heart out and felt quite energised afterwards. Sops nailed it , lots of high notes. Learnt a new one. Came home ate tea DH made(well actually M&S did) and then went out again to church choir. Came home did one hour of jigsaw, went to bed.

Good morning all!

Bower choir sounds like just the perfect stress antidote!

CAG hope you feel a bit better today and good luck with your difficult morning.

Zoo wow, multi-coloured piped mash sounds delicious!

Foxes yes that's the one; amazing that people can hold such strong opinions about soup! Soup for supper is the reason why the natives here are so svelte despite fantastic bread, pastries and chocolate!

Cheery wing flaps to MsForestier Honu Toostressy Meet Hills I've Sass Steg CallmeCordelia and many others I've missed!

Didn't get much else done yesterday but I was pleased with my dinner (roast chicken with root vegetable casserole thing). Also made huge vat of butternut squash soup. Made lots of both so today is a non-cooking day - yay - although might whip up a lunch box bake for DD. Also cleared up really well so kitchen won't need cleaning today.

To do:
walk the furry
kind of did home bleugh over weekend but still need to do extra thorough s&s + bins and recycling
1 hr exercise
1 hr chores (boudoir)
1 hr decluttering
1 hr Christmas prep
1 hr charity book/toy collection

Have a productive start to the week everyone!

Morning
I absolutely HAVE to sort out the house today.its making me stressed and anxious it's such a state....

Bowerbird5 · 05/11/2018 07:45

Ha ha! You should see mine zoo. DH has packed and distributed kitchen paraphernalia all over the house. He hasn’t labelled any either. These will need unpacked, washed and put in new home about 20th December! The dining room where I told him to put microwave is chaotic and he didn’t put it there first. Both bedrooms have boxes of stuff in and I don’t know where the plates are. He left four out.
I helped pack and my idea was we would put most in new summer house but it hasn’t arrived yet! Arrrgh! Going to school so I don’t have to look at it.

Good luck zoo.
SC yes, it was great yesterday and I think I have about eight extra dates singing around the city. Starting with a touch light one next Saturday.

Hope everyone has a good day, i’mleaving in 25 minutes.

Staringcoat · 05/11/2018 08:01

Good luck for the day ahead Zoo and Bower!

Ta da so far:
dd packed lunch
walked furry
scrubbed dog bowls thoroughly
dw on
overnight washing hung up
wms fed again
changed soap, towel in downstairs lav and replenished with bog roll
scrubbed collars and cuffs of school white shirts

Right, about to start list proper now.

Advice ladies...
So I'm still in tail end of flu bug(limbs still hurting, but not as heavy.hearing/ears improving, throat improving) BUT I woke up in a crime scene and flooding is still causing issues-3 night time ultras since I got up,bearing in mind it's always worse first thing but experience says be around one an hour/2 hours all day mainly just sudden flooding..
I seriously don't want leave the house, nor do I feel particularly up to the 20 minutes walk up n down hills to get D's to school to do his 40 minutes.as it's only counting actual work time he could be there quite a while so I would come back then go back to get him.walking himself there is nt an option.he barely leaves rooms at home alone.outside the house wouldn't hapoen.im reluctant to allow a break in trying everyday but can I justify not going today based on me being unwell?

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/11/2018 08:11

I have until 835 to make a decision

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/11/2018 08:13

People are loud, clod hopping, glaze removing idiots. Or at least one person is. Angry so I am tired and have murderous thoughts involving a blunt spoon....

Thankfully I am out of the house today, unfortunately I need to find my ID badge (in a safe place) and shove the teen out of the door on time

We are both tired. Really tired. I got nothing done really yesterday and am glad I have an asthma appointment on Wednesday. Oh and I am losing my voice. The bramble vinegar is saving my butt atm!

to do
breakfasts sorted for people
stuff gathered with ds and me out of the house on time
fish welfare
buy lighter to burn the ends of cording to stop it unravelling
finish fixing ds' blind
return ds' blind
put ds' clothes away
work on my room

How is it 8:15 ALREADY?!?!?! ffs...

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/11/2018 08:37

Bit the bullet and rang in saying I wasn't well enough to bring him in today.they seemed ok with it,but who knows?
Feel guilty now though, not just for him but sending lil zoo with dd2 despite her quite liking being grown up enough not to have me trailing along with her it's coming home I don't like.she trails down hill to dd2 school and has to wait for her to come out before they trudge home and if they're late be dark by time get back.fields to cross on way home.

MsForestierinParis · 05/11/2018 09:19

Arghhh. Walked ds to school but ended up taking him home. Slight underlying asthma just makes the cold slightly longer for him.

I can work from home but not ideal.

Okay kitchen clean was completed but need to strip the Karndean floor so waiting for floor products by post.

Will probably tackle my office area over this week so that that I'm ahead of myself for zone 3. But no pressure.

Need to swish and swipe and Hoover downstairs due to dried mud. Dinner is leftover ham.

Hope various illness are on the mend for you all. Wing flap salute.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/11/2018 09:21

Sorry, didn’t see that in time zoo. If you’re not well there is not much you can do Flowers. How are you feeling now?

Had a lovely, lovely weekend until the last minute when DD2 turned into a monster before bed. Aaaaaaghh. Other than that though, it was fab and even having my parents around was not too stressful (they are better diluted with other people!!).
