Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Well done for surviving party Cag!

Good luck with parental visit & party prep combo Toostressy. Stay strong! The force of the fledglings is with you!

Zoo hope you are feeling much better today and if not, hope you can take it steady and delegate to Zoolets a bit!

Mice had RADA training Hills Grin. Don't worry, we already have pom-pom makers in several sizes but ta v much for link!

Gosh Bower that sounds like a pretty toxic/stressful environment in which to work (the staffroom I mean). Must take its toll. . So sorry you have to pack up kitchen instead of resting this weekend but best of luck with it! Very good to know there is life after menopause btw!

Foxes snap! I made apple crumble last night too. We started with braised ham hock in a sort of soupy casserole of pots, carrots and turnips with parsley.

Encouraging wing flaps to everyone else!

DH can cope at home despite being ill so I have been given a day release pass! Heading off to do some long-lining with dhorse today Smile 💕 . Enjoy your weekend everyone! Tally-hoooo!🐎🐎

Ta da:
carried laundry downstairs
folded towels and pants
overnight washing in tw
new loads on
made egg and bacon butty for me and dh and furry
emptied dw and stacked it again
cleaned kitchen surfaces
showed dh what's for lunch and dinner (butternut squash and red pepper soup followed by leftover crumble =,lunch, and for tonight, baked spuds (already prepped) with cold cuts ham hock and all dh has to do is to put spuds in oven, make green salad with fennel etc, dressing is in jar in fridge).
packed car
walked furry (who is staying with dh today)
stripped our bed and put out fresh linen for dh and DD to make up! (Suspect I'll be doing that on rtn)

Phew thank goodness for that. My only other advice would be to tie off the pom poms and the connect the ties (so make them long enough and tie tight around poms) trying to thread through them is a disaster that will happen played that game once and only once it is like bean bags to clean up after exploded poms

I am taking mum out for the day. I have already shouted at her for fussing Blush this day is not going to end well. The more tired she is the more she fusses and the less patience I have for it

To do
empty car
take all the pain killers
smile nice and be polite
get home and sulk quietly whilst muttering about all the inconsiderate drives who block drives and park so you can't get down the road because the don't want to pay for parking at the bonfire event that is on tonight.
tackle my room some more
sketch out measurements for the pattern pieces that I didn't get around to yesterday.

MsForestierinParis · 03/11/2018 08:34

Poor zoo and zoolets. Master Forestier has a cold and I gave him a dose of inhaler this morning. Viruses in the go. We've had our flu shots but he hasn't until early December.

MsForestierinParis · 03/11/2018 08:35

Finishing zone one atm. Really deep clean of hall etc.

Wingflaps and soft tissues to all.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/11/2018 08:58

Tada
Upright and dressed
Hair scrapped into unruly bun
Cats fed
Cereal bars in zoolets and appropriate milk
Row used up most energy with dd2
Now warned another outburst I'm taking her phone for the weekend

Time stagger to church....

Cagliostro · 03/11/2018 09:09

Well. I think it’s fair to say that last month’s “axe murderer” period was not a one off 😖😰😡

Caglets have a party later and I’ve no clue how I’ll manage

foxessocks · 03/11/2018 09:36

Hope everyone feels better really soon.

Ta da
Dishwasher emptied and reloaded
Two lots of porridge made per child - they are hungry this morning!
Dc dressed teeth cleaned etc

Sc thanks for the recipe for some reason I couldn't reply to the PM on my phone! Confused looks delicious xx

foxessocks · 03/11/2018 10:03

Ta da
Dishwasher on
Quick tidy (but not really made a dent - how did the house get so messy?!)

Stopping for tea break even though I haven't really got started yet where did the time go?! Confused

Cagliostro · 03/11/2018 14:01

Just getting baby back to sleep as she only had a brief nap at ballroom.

Fuck I feel like crap. Made it to town by getting bus down the hill and still felt shaky. Ate crappy lunch and didn’t remotely enjoy it. Collected baby off DH and then got text saying party mum will drop kids home yay! So I got bus home. After buying chocolate.

Bowerbird5 · 03/11/2018 16:20

Just stopping for a cup of tea and a mince pie. And time for mumsnet.

Not really enjoying today. Went to bed at 9pm asleep by 9:05pm woke several times and early 6:10. I lay there for a bit then got up and made tea as really thirsty. I had some me time then started on breakfast and a bit of sorting out. After a good cooked breakfast ( DH must have smelt it) we started stripping out. So we have emptied cupboards except one. Some had been done on Wednesday and DH did pans and crockery. We moved the dresser, yuk behind it. Vacuumed, dusted and mopped. Put back some and most of other stuff in dining room or shed.DH is now trying to take tiles off. I love the tiles and would like to keep a few to make a tray.
I have had two breaks.
Ta da
Kitchen
Two loads of washing.

Need to
vacuum
Wash floor
Make bed
Put washing away

Sorry to hear some people are feeling rubbish.

Leaves chocolate cake, paracetamol, left over sweeties🕸🕷🎃👻

Cagliostro · 03/11/2018 16:58

Public service announcement. Thornton’s fruit jellies are crap. I learned this the hard way. You’re welcome. 😭

Still two hours till strictly. These long days post-clock-change are DRAGGING 😭

I’ve done absolutely fuck all

Staringcoat · 03/11/2018 17:18

Gosh that sounds like a very full-on day Bower Star Star and Halo. Very well done indeed! Wine

Bloomin' 'eck Hills and Meet look how much they are selling them for! Shock Shock not that ours will end up looking like that mind Thank you for pom-pom-tying-off advice and hope you survived your day out Brew and [footspar]

All hail to party mum Cag (and sorry about the axe murderish phase) [SC retreats backwards leaving offerings of Biscuit and Cake in her wake]

Hope you (and ds) survived church Zoo.

Hope MasterForestier has been feeling a bit better as the day has gone on Haunted. Are the results of the Halloween name-change comp out yet btw? I think yours should win! Smile

My pleasure Foxes hope you enjoy the spicy pots! Very good on their own or with roast chicken. (Traditionally in India, I think they are eaten with a fried egg.)

Had a terrific time with dhorse although he is a stubborn bugger at times. A very calming presence and a huge kind eye. Seeing him tomorrow morning too as everything seems calm back home so I am staying over. Didn't plan to but (a) it was so glorious here today, (b) I was late this afternoon and don't like driving back in dark (c) all ok back at the ranch.

Ready for a ping supper tonight and viewing Strictly without interruption or complaint - bliss!

Have a lovely evening everyone! And hope those that are feeling rough, are feeling a bit better now!

Staringcoat · 03/11/2018 17:41

Must admit, the clock change has thrown us in a way that I don't remember it doing in previous years Cag. Dh and I are waking up at our usual time for a start, and the dark seems to be encroaching v quickly in the late afternoon.

OP posts:
Staringcoat · 03/11/2018 17:51

Cag well if Thornton's are crap, that's your perfect opportunity to use gelatine and make your own! Will try and find some recipes!!

And if you are feeling really ambitious here's a recipe for jelly beans!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 03/11/2018 18:13

Oh that’s a good point! Yay!
Although bearing in mind I can barely do a decent rice crispy cake I probably won’t attempt the jelly beans just yet 😂😂😂

foxessocks · 03/11/2018 20:24

Wow a jellybeans recipe! Amazing! Looks pretty complicated though!

Ta da
Picked up some groceries
Collected parcel (ds new bedding)
Put ds new bedding on he's very excited as it's got dinosaurs on it 🦕
Cleaned half the under sink cupboard in kitchen (it's a big job as pretty cluttered and grubby!)
Washing up
Washing on
Sorted some socks
Folded some laundry
Hung washing up
Tidied toys
Picked up from butchers
Been to friends to see some fireworks 🎆 with the dc and had fish and chips yum
Chucked out some mouldy conkers I found on the kitchen windowsill and washed the cup up I found them in! Woops!
Emptied kitchen bin

Phew, I think that's all. Dc tucked up in bed now , I can hear loads of fireworks going on outside. Hope all the pets are okay and not too scared. Our cat isn't bothered in the slightest.

Cagliostro · 03/11/2018 22:16

ta da
✅made it to town
✅made dinner
✅caught up with a tv show (that wouldn’t normally be an achievement but it’s one I wasn’t reeeeally into but wanted to finish that before moving onto the other series I want to watch!)

Balls to today 😡🙄
