Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

ta da so far
✅got myself and Caglets ready to go ice skating at 10
✅got to door and realised it only opens at 10 on weekends, and at 12.30 on weekdays 😳🤦‍♀️

Have left Caglets at park while bringing baby back to feed and I’m going to take the spare ballroom dresses back with me, we will go to Asda for McDonald’s and exchanging the dresses (I bought three so she could choose one), and buying gloves as couldn’t find any (obviously) - they’ll probably be cheaper than the ones available to buy at the rink.

Although DD just texted to say the doors are open at the rink now 🤔 I’m so confused. Going to attempt to transfer sleeping baby to buggy and head back 🤔

Hope you all have a relaxing evening! I could do some more work later once dc asleep to get ahead but more likely I'll watch line of duty on Netflix Grin

*toy baskets not sure what a you basket is!

Cagliostro · 16/11/2018 23:08

ta da
✅went to Asda to return dresses, part exchanged for clothes for DD and gloves for DS, got the rest refunded
✅took Caglets ice skating and got season tickets 💸💸💸
✅phoned dentist to see when appt is and talked to friend about plans it clashes with (will change app as I am not missing this exhibition)

Fuck all else, feel very dizzy still and having a random attack of, well I can’t describe it really it just happens sometimes, where it feels like I can feel my pulse all the way through my body, it is very unsettling indeed

Bowerbird5 · 16/11/2018 23:21

Wow some list zoo yes I will take more care re eating. It turned out there was no cornflakes left and the bread was a bit bleugh old. I can’t find the marmalade either. I know I saw it one day when looking for something else and I don’t want to open a new jar as they are Kilner jars. I have bought some porridge as I can’t find that either I think it is somewhere in the dining room. Thinking how easy and good porridge will be damn I have just realised I haven’t put the fish pie in the fridge. Will have to go back down.
Good luck to lil zoo tomorrow. Also for the ballet. Would DS stay with anyone for the time or would he be worse? Shame if you have to miss it.
It’s been another long day but I did have toast for breakfast and a small tub of beans for lunch. Fish pie for tea. I have a sirloin steak for tomorrow from the cheap bit £3 so I can try the grill out.
Thank you Toostressy. Yummy
Sorry I am falling asleep here. Leaves 🍫☕️🍷🥧💐💐

Good luck with all day event tomorrow Toostressy hope it goes well

Wing flaps to everyone else! And have a good weekend everybody!

Cleaner was ill again today so made half-hearted attempt at home bleugh (house needs two per week). Also changed beds and packed car for weekend. Tidied up curtain pole, curtains and bits of plaster that crashed down with it Confused. Made more beds on arrival wreck2, discussed hwk and forthcoming exams with DD (Montaigne, Rabelais, Thomas More, kinetic energy and geometry that went way over my head) and cooked/made up one pot steamed fish, veg and rice dish from freezer. Also watched Jurassic World 2 or whatever it's called as my penance tonight because I am a wicked mother and didn't let DD go to scouts party miles away this weekend (she doesn't seem too fussed about it as it happens). Phew!

Mahoosively busy horsey weekend ahead so apologies in advance if very few personals appear as Internet slow here (will continue with links though). G'night all!

Enjoy the equine activities SC

Bowerbird5 · 17/11/2018 10:17

Finds out how to grill on new Everhot and puts some rashes of bacon on. It turns off automatically😳 bacon takes less than 8 minutes, very crispy, fat just a little leaves piles of crispy bacon to have with pancakes and maple syrup.

Wanted to go to Glasgow Country Living Fair but hadn’t asked anyone and 🐔out to go on own. Feeling very tired from stress I think. Two more staff off on long term sickness.

Ta da
I have cleaned bathroom except shelves and floor. Did toothbrush cleaning, shower drain, glass doors etc now sparkling. I refused to go for cup of tea till it was done then I was gasping. 30 minutes. I should time things then write it down so I can slot timed jobs into my day.

Plan
Vacuum downstairs.
Do camping style washing up.
Wash kitchen floor.
Sort and vacuum hall.
Organise food for tonight and prep for tomorrow.
Watch a film
Eat chocolate
Drink gin

Fit in planning for the week.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/11/2018 13:48

I'm still lurking around SC
Floors I failed yesterday to sort have been scrubbed on hands and knees(living room, kitchen and hall)
Catsnots cleaned from living room window

After initial chaos(around 30kids with same letter start of surname weren't on list for group one and they had sign us in individually so they can check it back later.took bloody ages.was ment start test at 915,was 945 lil zoo entered the hall as last child counted and was straight off for the test)
I had panic attack by time went in as hot, jostlingly busy and D's was freaking so dd2 offered stay (her friend's sister was sit test so they sat gossiping)and i took D's home.she then bought lil zoo back and took her back again for last rehearsal of dance(she was given money last weekend and was over level chores done so the £6 deficit it now considered settled)

Zoolets fed lunch(meatballs and tomato slices in sub rolls for lil zoo and D's plus pea crisps.dd2 mouths agony so she had a pea, peppers and carrot soup with lots fresh parsley in it and soft bridge rolls

I still feel but meh.i have had raging sore throat past few days and feeling below par and stressed today...maybe the lack sleep?who knows but planning easy afternoon faffing/not doing much

Xthank you sC.
Ah showing how I loved it. Going off to new, exciting places early in the morning and coming back tired with an arm full of ribbons. Horses to bed and fed then big mug of cocoa and followed suit. We occasionally were allowed a lie in till breakfast 8am.

I have done the first three and the last three and the bathroom is shining took one and a half hours including sorting the basket Dam;n this iPad keeps deleting stuff. If you delete a letter it takes out a whole sentience. I feel rested now.
zoo that sounds chaotic what a weird coincidence.

I halve been writing my Christmas list which watching a Christmas film. Need to get a secret Santa present for £10

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/11/2018 19:49

Fed little ones

Pile broccoli and sweet potato in oven, rice almost cooked, hummus at the ready, tomatoes chopped.poncetastic Buddha bowls for supper....

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/11/2018 22:10

I’m here! Not caught up on thread yet, we were out all day as both DDs had an activity thing. It went well and then we had fish and chips with wine and the girls had Fanta. Not sure anything tastes better when you are hungry and tired Smile.

Am now sewing Hmm which of course I despise but decided to get it down now when I could sit on my own and watch telly at the same time. Big wing flaps to all, will catch up tomorrow.

Mmm @ fish and chips Toostressy

Sorry test organisation was so chaotic and stressful Zoo

Bower no winning ribbons but one of Dd's instructors did amazing dressage test on Percheron X of all things! Never been so cold standing around but it was a great day!

Good luck with Christmas list; I have zero inspiration this year! Is it me but does anything worth buying on-line seem £££££ and everything else a bit meh?

Over-tired so can't sleep. And despite good day, DD in foul mood tonight. Everything has hit fan because she kept receiving texts during the evening and apparently everyone was at party that we didn't allow her to attend. When I say everyone, it turns out that actually means two people (majority of other parents having reached same conclusion about party that we did) but I know that it feels like everyone to her! Anyway, even though it was both DH and I that said "no" it is only me of course that is "destroying her social life" , "ruining her life" and "being hideous". Confused

Tomorrow is another day ... sigh. Hopefully dhorse will feature largely (in all senses Smile) in it.

G'night all!
