Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Had a pretty chilled out day here, me and ds went to Sainsbury's (thanks again meet I did double up my last lot of points!) we went to the cafe as well and he had a ride on his favourite little fire engine. It's the little things!! Unfortunately now dd seems to have a bit of a stomach upset , she ate dinner fine but says she feels funny.

Zero motivation found here. Positive pants are somewhere in mount washmore.

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/11/2018 19:16

I fear my positive pants fell off on the school run this morning cag
Must try and see if they are still laying over the fields when I take lil zoo across tomorrow!!

Foxes hope DD is ok.lil zoo tummy playing up tonight(normal pain at bedtime) and I've been given a sarcastic mouthful of attitude.i just shrugged said I give up for tonight and walked away....
She has hospital on Tuesday,I'm hoping there's something they can suggest for the pain.uts awful at night and sometimes in the morning, eases in middle of the day.suspect her diagnosis is going to be IBS...

Zoolets fed.banana muffins for pud
Dd2 feeling but fragile so I'm roasting broccoli, squash, fennel and parsnips for myself and will blend some with cannelloni beans herbs, stock etc for a comforting soup topped with grated cheese

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/11/2018 19:18

*cannelini.i know cannelloni would not be good blended in a soup

Ps the lady I know from church with 10 kids has been accepted on come dine with me!!!!

SassitudeandSparkle · 15/11/2018 21:11

I think my positive pants are in the laundry too Blush Better dig them out again! Back in a bit.

HillsBesideTheSea · 15/11/2018 21:56

I think I set fire to my positive pant in a fit of rage the other day. Mini hissy fit thrown. I threatened to cancel christmas... Yes we are at that stage already. did I meantion I hate christmas?

FLying, zip. nill, nada...

Cagliostro · 15/11/2018 22:30

Ooh how exciting zoo you’ll have to tell us when that episode airs!

Fuck all done here
ta da
✅bit of laundry, still nervous of dryer
✅persuaded DS to do a bit of home ed even though DD wasn’t here (I knew she was doing research stuff at her friend’s house) he was not happy about this. Made me realise I don’t really have any plans in place for him. It’s all been about making sure DD is doing the right stuff and he’s just along for the ride. He will happily do stuff when she does but I need to find him something for him alone (as DD does some extra bits that are too tough for him being two years younger) hmmm it’s a thinker and I have no energy for this right now
✅actually read a bit of my book, shame it took the electric being cut off temporarily (not a money problem, just an organisational one! We’ve never had a prepay meter before but it was already in the new house and they aren’t letting us change it yet 🙄) to actually persuade me to 😳

And that’s it folks. Tired grumpy etc BLAH

Bowerbird5 · 16/11/2018 05:11

Back to being stressed about job. Meetings yesterday and today. I went to the pub and let them make me dinner with a couple of glasses of vino. I forgot to take my purse to work and had nothing to eat all day as there was an early morning meeting and another after school. Didn’t get home until 6:30pm.Lunch time was swallowed up by tidying up one end, setting up art and various pockets of helping children.

Going to get fish and chips tonight. No updates on kitchen. No water, no electric bar fridge and stove oh and lights I have those working now. It is like camping out trying to wash up.
Will catch up on,m threads tomorrow. Woken with dam hip pain again. It bloody hurts. Need an osteopath visit I think.
Just getting basics done but did do shower and basin.
Hope everyone is ok.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/11/2018 06:09

bower please take it steady and it's easy for me to say you have to make time to eat when you are so busy but you can't run on empty like that.not good for youFlowers

We've rolled back on building on an extension. We have an aging conservatory and I think we'll just remove it and replace the old kitchen units in the kitchen. Turn a bedroom into TV room. We also need a new bathroom and cloakroom as a botched job was done originally. It's really disruptive isn't it bower? We couldn't justify the cost in the end and with the b word uncertainty and interest rates rises forecast paying off part of the mortgage seemed wiser for our situation.

Had the electrician yesterday as house had an electrical check - we'd never had one done.

I'm meant to be cleaning the bathroom today but the 'other room' is full of Christmas shopping. Tiling is so rubbish I could probably clean under a few of them, for a thorough clean!

Wing flaps

Staringcoat · 16/11/2018 10:46

We 're rolling back on kitchen conversion plans too FestiveForestia. We had big plans but everything (and labour) costs €€€€€€€€€ here - and I've just had a Shock quote on how much it will cost just to replace cracked floor. And of course "B-word" implications!
