Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Aw thanks. It was two exhibitions in the same place TBF (v&a) my mum has a membership so could take us all in free as guests. I unfortunately didn’t get to see the video game one myself as too busy feeding and shepherding the baby. I find it incomprehensible now that in the past we could happily go to more than one museum. I’d love to have taken baby to the natural history museum as when she sees a dinosaur or we say the word, she goes RAAAAH 😍

Anyway dance workshops done - two very happy Caglets as they did street dance to greatest showman and DS got to be Barnham! I found dresses at Asda and DD tried them on in harvester to choose favourite and we can take the others back. Had a nice lunch (felt more capable there) then made it to exam (foxtrot and tango) which she reckons went ok. First time doing two dances at once though so we shall see.

Now on way back to town to head home. Hope there are buses as it’s chucking it down again.

Sorry I’m waffling. Anything to get outta my head ATM. It’s a wreck in there. Honestly don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get an appt tomorrow as things are getting much much worse. At least they should prescribe something over the phone if I just go back on old ones

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/11/2018 16:18

foxessocks · 11/11/2018 19:16

They look delicious!

People are setting off huge loud fireworks very close to our house and ds is not happy! AngrySad

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/11/2018 19:33

We've had them on and off over a week.im told Diwali involves fireworks and that's been running this week? I'm not fond fireworks being open to sale all year round/let off when you like, but I have a scared cat!(and a D's who hates them)
Ten mins til I can apply my face toy dumpling(counting the minutes)

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/11/2018 19:34

They aren't toy dumplings..to my dumplings

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/11/2018 21:08

Grin face toy dumplings.

Thanks for links SC.

DC just gone to bed after we watched Strictly.

Ta da:-
Did some thinking about Christmas presents (but no actual buying or list making Hmm)
Hand washing
Took DDs to toy shop to spend DD1’s birthday money and DD2 had a few pennies to spend. It was busy (went to an out of town retail park as was a specific shop she wanted to go to) which made me think I really must get on with thinking about Christmas.
Went to our town’s Remembrance Sunday parade. Luckily they work really hard to make it child friendly so it was ok and the girls saw lots of people from school.
Hand washing
Rang my parents
Found missing instructions for a toy

To do:-
Text my brother
Reboot laundry
Prep stuff for tomorrow
I should declutter but I think I have run out of time for this
Sit
Big wing flaps to all

Hope you get seen tomorrow Cag, or at least get something like a telephone appointment.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/11/2018 21:09

Just reread my last post and I think it might explain some of my problems getting stuff done! Lots of thinking about stuff but not much doing Grin.

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/11/2018 21:17

But thinking about it stressy is at least acknowledging it needs doing, rather just obliviously burying head in sand... I class that as a baby stepGrin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/11/2018 21:43
Grin
Staringcoat · 11/11/2018 23:01

Evening all!

Toostressy you can't possibly be worse than me at thinking not doing! I have awards for it and everything Grin

Hope you can get appt promptly Cag

That supper dish looks yummy Zoo; perfect dumpling weather atm!

Glad you liked the recipe Foxes!

Spent a large part of the day sat watching all the Remembrance/Cenotaph coverage on the BBC - weren't those faces in the sand amazing - and then turned over and watched all the national coverage here. Very moving and interesting.

Not much else achieved except a bit of laundry, made a bean soup, and a very meat light/veg heavy spag bol. Plus lots of hwk testing & discussion with/for for DD. Also persuaded a very reluctant daschund to go out in the rain, twice!

Wing flaps to all!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 12/11/2018 10:26

Ah you win then SC, I have no awards for thinking Grin.

Meet0nTheIedge · 12/11/2018 12:29

.

Well, other than laundry I don't feel I got much done over the weekend. Most of the time seems to have flown past in locking horns with DD over things, nothing major but it's all frustrating, I'm having one of those "feel like a crap parent" phases. She's always tired, always got too much homework, I'm always nagging, I'm worried about her friendships, usual early teen stuff I suppose but it grinds you down. I sometimes manage to step back but then she gets out of her depth with the homework etc and I feel bad for not making her go to bed earlier or whatever I stepped back from and it all kicks off again. Need Brew, I'll stick the kettle on if anyone wants one.

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/11/2018 12:39

Same going on here X3 meet .sucks your soul dry sometines

Staringcoat · 12/11/2018 15:21

Meet going through exactly the same thing, so no solutions to suggest sadly. Just posting to say "you are not alone" and every single word you have written rings so true here too. Hang in there. It's very tough going and as Zoo says it sucks you dry. I totally "get" how draining and time-consuming the endless conflict is too. Sending huge dollops of solidarity and support xxxx

If it makes you feel any better ..

We're getting a lot of deflected stress and rude behaviour from DD whose end of term exams start end of this month. She is in a right state but of course won't go to bed early and help herself. The rule has always been that every bit of tech comes out of her bedroom at night - and she was absolutely fine with it for ages and I was congratulating myself smugly on a job well done - until she and her boyfriend started wanting to text one another until 1am each night. So now we have an argument about it every single evening (sigh) where she tries to wear me down and I refuse to give in. It's delightful not.

Oh and then there's the annual winter coat argument (she has a really nice long padded parka from last year which she now refuses to wear) and has her heart set on some short, over the head, expensive (of course) fashionable number declared as this year's "must have" by the class style queen bee. Apparently the long coat is "too cold" and one that doesn't cover her bum and leaves her (rolled up Hmm skirt open to being snowed and rained on is "much warmer". (double sigh)

And then there's the (out of the blue , new) can I attend a scout party miles away on a Friday night in Nov with my boyfriend and 30 other 16 yr- 18 yr old old male scouts who we don't know (except one) and can I stay over at his house afterwards? And no I am not exactly sure where it is, or the level of adult supervision, there will be small cans of beer sold, It will be just me and another girl going , all the rest are boys, and (boyfriend's) mum says it's fine ! (treble sigh)

If you don't laugh you cry Grin

FestiveForestiera. Very good of you to send Christmas parcels to friends. I often can't manage to get mine out to family sometimes!

Toostressy arf at mini Crunchie snaffling Grin. I am still ploughing my way through Halloween stash Blush

Not much achieved today except a half-hearted attempt at home bleugh. Surgeon's appt (which I had been dreading all weekend) has been bounced forward by three weeks. Very unhappy as now op looks likely after Christmas. Bugger.

Anyway, time to don the tin hat and hoist Sass's positivity pants as the teen will be home imminently! Confused
