Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Staringcoat · 30/10/2018 11:59

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Grrrrr

MsForestierinParis · 07/11/2018 20:01

My husband reckons that I've the evil eye 😉

MsForestierinParis · 07/11/2018 20:32

Right, when the dryer finishes I'm going to strip the Karndean floor and add new polish. Ruddy labourious job.

Cagliostro · 07/11/2018 22:58

ta da
✅maths and iPad stuff with Caglets
✅met DH for brunch, discussed doctors appt
✅got Caglets to art despite them being tired etc
✅was a good friend and in doing so helped DS make friends with a really shy young lad so the mum was really extra happy! 💖
✅dropped sample at dr 😳🙄
✅DH got DD’s glasses fixed
✅kept up with medication (no ill effects for me or baby so far) and salt rinses
✅bathed baby
✅watched catch up TV (Bodyguard) while the others went to tae kwon do grading and baby slept
✅discussed the need for DH to take some annual leave this month

DH has gone to bed early as he’s on a really early shift. Going to sneak baby into her bed and stay on the sofa, head killing again so distracting myself with DVD. Glad DH will be here to take the Caglets to Badgers and Cadets tomorrow, it does mean I have to take them to trampolining but that’s much more local, I just have to make sure I’m up in good time.

Cagliostro · 07/11/2018 22:58

Thank you for PMs by the way msF 💐 head too sore to read much so haven’t even caught up on thread yet, so I’ll try tomorrow 💐

MsForestierinParis · 07/11/2018 23:06

No problem Cag just wanted to give you the heads up in case you didn't receive an email alert. Your poor head. Rest up.

foxessocks · 08/11/2018 13:33

Afternoon! Ds is being a pickle and not going to sleep this afternoon. I have good intentions with the house every day but this is what happens: mad rush get dd to school, come home for straight out to activity for ds or just shopping or whatever, come home lunch and play with ds perhaps get the dishwasher on, then get ds down for nap, then I sit for probably best part of an hour to make sure ds asleep and me doing anything round house doesn't disturb him. Then possibly bit of quiet housework but no hoovering or upstairs cleaning. Then get ds up made rush to collect dd, bring dd home snacks, chat with her, playing general madness, get dinner started, eat, bedtime madness.... I'm beginning to wonder now dd at school where does the actual time go???

That's not including any work or anything either Grin

Ok that's my small rant for the day !!

Zoo I need to take a leaf out of your book and get up earlier BrewBrewBrew

foxessocks · 08/11/2018 13:36

Sorry I typed that so fast it didn't make much sense did it!Grin

Ta da
Been to the supermarket
Dishwasher on
Lunch for me and ds
Attempted to get ds down for nap (third time lucky!?)
Bought poppy for dd
Picked up parcel
Collected cups from around the house

To do
LAUNDRY LAUNDRY LAUNDRY

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/11/2018 13:45

foxes an early start keeps me on the back foot rather than half way down the road.timd does fly when they're at school

foxessocks · 08/11/2018 13:50

It's crazy isn't it?! I swear I had more time when dd wasn't at school! I mean I guess ds is harder work now too Hmm

Given up on his nap for today, it's not happening! So now I've got just over an hour before we have to leave to get dd so I'm going to blitz the housework, get loads done then have a Brew before we leave. Off I go...

foxessocks · 08/11/2018 14:43

Ta da
Hung washing up
Washing on
Cleaned bathroom
Cleaned kitchen windows and doors and frames
Cleaned some of kitchen floor like under door mat and stuff
Cleaned one cupboard door kitchen
Emptied kitchen bin and bleached it
Unpacked new kitchen bowls
Tidied all the bedrooms a bit

Now Brew before school run then it'll be home to do a bit more before I start dinner (cod in lemony breadcrumbs and lentils probably with some sort of potato. Might do the spicy wedges sc suggested!)

Hope sc is on the mend too.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/11/2018 19:04

Starfor the impressive list

foxessocks · 08/11/2018 21:27

I haven't managed to fit another run in since the weekend and I won't tomorrow as we have friends over after school / for dinner. But I will do it when I can I'm determined to keep going even if it isn't as often as it should be.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/11/2018 21:46

SassitudeandSparkle · 08/11/2018 22:41

Sorry to be AWOL today, I have actually been doing laundry and washing up! Also cleaned two vases and soaked some laundry that needed help after being left damp Blush

Can't stop yawning either, might head up for an early-ish night because I need to iron some shirts tomorrow morning

Emergency coat wash here too due to bird strike on DD foxes, I hope that good luck holds for both of you!

Will do the links now. Flap on, fledglings!

Kitchen tidy. Busy day. Wing flaps to all and continued recovery from ailments.

MsForestierinParis · 08/11/2018 23:48

And did the ironing.

Cagliostro · 09/11/2018 00:48

ta da
✅got up and out on time for trampolining (via town for breakfast)
✅collected board games I bought on FB. Nice guy also told me about a monthly gaming day I may try and attend some time (in the interest of doing something for myself)
✅put washes on x2
✅returned call to registry office (to reregister DD1 as she was born before we married... it’s our ten year anniversary today so somewhat overdue...)
✅bathed baby
✅caught up on the rest of the Bodyguard, that was amazing
✅didn’t completely freak out about broken tumble dryer. Went on live chat to order spare part that DH should be able to fit.
✅kept up with meds
✅hung out wet baby laundry on chairs and playpen, DH put our stuff on hangers on curtain poles
✅messaged friend who is struggling

Not the most fun anniversary I must say.

Place is an absolute hole, DH is off tomorrow so other than ballet and probably the basic essential home ed bits and maybe sending DH to Asda to get an airer for laundry, we have agreed to spend the day blitzing the house. At least here that means actually putting stuff in the right places for the most part, whereas in the old house it was just a pointless moving of random piles of crap. So as long as we focus on the right things we should make some progress.

Sorry I’ve nowhere near caught up yet, trying to MN less and have zero space in my addled brain 😖
