How much do you spend on flowers per week?

I love fresh flowers and have recently signed up for bloom and wild, I love the surprise. So far the flowers last two weeks, so I have them delivered fortnightly for £18, which in my head is like spending £9 a week on flowers. What do you spend?

I only like Tulips. So in tulip season a fiver every 10 days or so.

torthecatlady · 27/02/2018 19:11

@RollTopBath You're not the lady who was on Don't Tell The Bride a few years ago are you? Her husband bought her flowers every Friday too! They got married on a Friday and if I remember correctly he forgot the flowers.

@DontFundHate I love fresh flowers, but I don't tend to buy them very often. If I were to buy some, I'd spend about £10. Although recently have been having flowers delivered from Freddie's flowers.

mamadrummer · 27/02/2018 19:12

Love the look of flowers but HATE the upkeep, slime, smell, chucking out dead ones, watching them wilt etc. Bought some fake silk ones, popped in vintage jugs about the house - got the look but not the fuss!

StrumpersPlunkett · 27/02/2018 19:13

We always have fresh flowers most weeks it is bunch of daffs or tulips or roses or lilies

RJnomore1 · 27/02/2018 19:13

Zilch. I dislike cut flowers, they're dead things.

Dh also is allergic to pollen so it's not something we have in the house.

Now if you had asked about candles...

TheQueef · 27/02/2018 19:14

On buds around £45per week but I do indulge in unusual varieties.

InDubiousBattle · 27/02/2018 19:16

£3-7 a week, usually from aldi, I like to have them in the kitchen, living room and upstairs landing. Cheaper at this time of year because I love daffodils and they're a bargain. I generally host friends/family once a month at least so get given flowers then too. Dp will get me a bunch every now and then too.

RaindropsAndSparkles · 27/02/2018 19:16

Daffs at this time of year £3 makes for a splendiferous display. Little bunches of mini roses sometimes, poinsettias and a cpl of nice arrangements at Christmas, usually a couple of nice arrangements when ws have guests (I can do wonders with £25 in Sainsburys and some florists foilage).

In summer I have a garden full of flowers and don't need them inside.

eggncress · 27/02/2018 19:18

I prefer potted plants for the house and maybe the odd cut flower from the garden in summer. So I spend nothing on flowers .

Gladys123 · 27/02/2018 19:22

Is this your idea of an advert op? Very strange and weirdly specific

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 27/02/2018 19:23

Probably £5-10 a fortnight. Lidl flowers seem to last a fortnight. Flowers are a very small luxury that cheer me up every time I look at them so it feels like a price worth paying.

megletthesecond · 27/02/2018 19:25

Nothing ever.

I pick off the odd spare / broken bloom in the garden in the summer and pop it in a stem vase and that's it.

Argeles · 27/02/2018 19:27

When I was suffering from depression, I used to spend £10 per week on flowers. It used to really help me to look at the beautiful blooms on my mantle piece, and unfortunately artificial flowers and plants didn’t have the same effect for me.

£40 per month is just far too steep for me now, but I treat myself to a little bunch of flowers for £4 or under every few weeks.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 27/02/2018 19:31

Bugger all.

DontFundHate · 27/02/2018 19:39

@Gladys no but I was waiting for someone to say that! Maybe I should have been more vague Hmm

Lots of different spends here, most less than me, makes me think! But I do love them and don't drink etc like other posters said

torthecatlady. No I can’t say I am. Married on a Saturday. In a church full of flowers I’d done myself. Flowers started after I had our first child and have continued since then. He very rarely misses.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 27/02/2018 19:43

When I have flowers in the house, I feel like a proper grown up.

Then I start to sneeze and realise why I don't have them!

If you can afford it, crack on. It's less than I spend on wine per week and much better for you.

Gazelda · 27/02/2018 19:47

I love to buy daffodils, generally a couple of bunches 3or 4times during the season.
Then I buy tulips a couple of times.
I pick roses out of the garden during the summer.
Other than that, DD generally gets me some carnations for my birthday, MIL brings me some roses when she comes for lunch and DH will surprise me with a bouquet once every 4-5 years.
I love flowers, but as a special occasion decoration rather than every day requirement.

BillywigSting · 27/02/2018 20:05

£0

I don't like seeing them die or putting them in the compost while they're still beautiful.

I have a few house plants that flower quite regularly and stay alive.

Mustang27 · 27/02/2018 20:26

Lol nothing I just steal my neighbours plants Wink

KatherinaMinola · 27/02/2018 20:28

Grin £45 though, shitting hell

torthecatlady · 27/02/2018 20:31

@RollTopBath What a lovely thing to do!

StickStickStickStick · 27/02/2018 20:31

Wow. 2500 a year on flowers!!

I'd love flowers more often if we were similarly loaded! It tends to be a few bunches of daffodils and maybe birthday...

Passthecake30 · 27/02/2018 20:32

£0.

Allergic and I'm not keen on the look of them

GerdaLovesLili · 27/02/2018 20:34

maybe a couple of pounds every two weeks. A bunch of lilies from Aldi really does last two weeks if you buy them in bud :-) and I love the scent.
