How much do you spend on flowers per week?

I love fresh flowers and have recently signed up for bloom and wild, I love the surprise. So far the flowers last two weeks, so I have them delivered fortnightly for £18, which in my head is like spending £9 a week on flowers. What do you spend?

I've had bloom flowers bought for me as a present before and they are beautiful and last very well.

I wouldn't be upset at all if someone bought me a subscription for their service

Viviene · 27/02/2018 18:51

I buy fresh flowers every Friday or Saturday when doing the big shop. I buy from the florists and supermarkets. Can spend anything between £5 and £20 per week, £5 being just a bunch of tulips and £20 a proper bouquet.

peepholepringle · 27/02/2018 18:52

About £12 a week at the moment. I like having fresh flowers in the living room and kitchen

NashvilleQueen · 27/02/2018 18:53

I’m sure it’s lovely but if my partner spent £30 a week on a bunch of flowers it would drive me mad. I’d rather save up the money and buy something more substantial. Also a decent bunch last longer than a week anyway.

dementedma · 27/02/2018 18:53

£1 a week at the moment on daffodils. Otherwise nothing

OllyBJolly · 27/02/2018 18:53

Probably spend a tenner a week except in summer when I pick my own flowers from the garden. I love fresh flowers!

BuzzKillington · 27/02/2018 18:53

I buy daffodils constantly at this time of year - 4 bunches at a time for a whopping £1 each. I like them cut short and densely packed into a tank vase.

DH buys me flowers most weeks. Around £20 a time I'd guess.

Electricgobblers · 27/02/2018 18:54

1500 a year. On flowers.

Yikes

Namelesswonder · 27/02/2018 18:56

I love having fresh flowers in the house. I probably spend around £5 a week. I think of it as a treat as it makes me happy.

stayathomegardener · 27/02/2018 18:56

I don't buy cut flowers but do splash out on unusual bulbs and plants to cut myself.

I start with unusual snowdrop varieties in November, progressing to six foot stems of Magnolia, Cherry or Forsythia which look amazing in early spring.
Armfuls of scented double daffodils, Tulips and Lily's in season are a real luxury.
And then twigs in reds, yellows or ever twisted corkscrews with Chinese Lanterns in the late autumn.

SadMalignantTwat · 27/02/2018 18:57

None. My boyfriend used to buy me flowers, but when he realised so many could be poisonous to my cats he started buying other little treats instead. I wouldn’t buy cut flowers for myself.

stayathomegardener · 27/02/2018 18:57

Acid green Fennel with purple Onions.
Almost edible.

MabelStable · 27/02/2018 19:00

I brought a reduced bunch for 35p in m&s 2 weeks ago which still look nice. That’s the most i’ve spent on cut flowers for about a year, other than the bunch DH gets me from the children on my birthday.

If I could justify the spend then i’d order them weekly.

Girlsworld92 · 27/02/2018 19:02

It doesn't ever occur to me to buy flowers to be honest so I only get them as gifts as they are lovely. I prob wouldn't spend more than a fiver though.

FlyingMonkeys · 27/02/2018 19:02

Odd £3.50 mixed bunch from supermarket. DP does flowers on occasion; roses, orchid, bunch of lilies (fav). Flowers are lovely but plants obviously last longer.

Right now I’m buying the £1 daffodils nut the rest of the year I spend about £15 every couple of weeks. My mum always had fresh flowers in the house and I’ve done the same as an adult.

NorbertTheDragon · 27/02/2018 19:06

I bought some reduced ones today for £2.50 from the local co-op. Last time I bought some was just after Christmas (discounted Christmas bouquet) They lasted for ages, I was pleasantly surprised.

I don't buy regularly, just when I see some nice ones, especially if they're reduced.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 27/02/2018 19:06

I will usually buy a bunch of flowers when shopping in Aldi (£2-£5) once a fortnight so probably averages at a couple of quid a week

Mymouthgetsmeintrouble · 27/02/2018 19:08

I probably buy one £3 bunch a year but if you can afford it and like it why not its good to treat yourself

MrsMoastyToasty · 27/02/2018 19:09

Nada. I suffer with really bad hayfever.

Vitalogy · 27/02/2018 19:09

If I had unlimited funds, I'd do Elton John-esque levels of floristry. First thing that popped into my mind when I read the thread title. Thought it an awful indulgence when I heard about his flower spends. Flowers

littlemisscomper · 27/02/2018 19:10

Zilch. I really don't like cut flowers. They're nice growing outside, but when you cut them they die. Who wants something dead and quietly rotting in their house?!

Ickyockycocky · 27/02/2018 19:10

I only buy flowers for a real treat for myself. I really think that they are an extravagance and would never buy them weekly.

Viviennemary · 27/02/2018 19:10

Nothing. My mum thought they were a waste of money. I do sometimes buy a few in summer though. Not often.
