I'm not sure if meal planning is improving my shopping bill, but we are definitely eating better! I used to think at 4pm...what can we have? Oh there isn't anything in/it'll take too long, and do pasta/frozen fish fingersetc. Now I know what to do,and if I can, I do it during the day so at tea time I just have to bung it in the oven.

TortUREoiseChamber · 08/10/2006 09:53

Q I have to say my worst buy ever was a washer/dryer. Just a washing machine works so much better. Glad mine died!

jasnDISMemBERED · 08/10/2006 09:55

My washing machine (the only appliance we have that was made this millenium) has a timer, so the whites started at 5am , and the waterproof undersheet that dd2 spilled apple juice on goes on a short wash as you can't spin it.

QuootieSpookypie · 08/10/2006 09:58

appley green might be ok aswell...

Period colours abit traditional, we're about 3/4 moderny. House wouldnt suit too traditional.

Remember the green Tort, thats kinda what we're having living/dining area as.

DH and I need to eat healthier - hes put on alot since his dad died, and I weigh what I did at end of pregnancy and im BFing!

Sorry about bitty typing, DS on lap and one `handed

I need to do a meal planner too. I often don't have enough money for a weekly shop and just pick up bits when im in town. Which means I probably spend loads more! Go for 1 item and come home with lots.

QuootieSpookypie · 08/10/2006 10:05

same here Tort. Last nights shop was for 1 meal!

I love my tumble dryer how can it take 3 1/2 hrs quootie do you mean the whole wash or just the drying bit. When my washer got plumbed in back to front- cold to hot pipe and vice versa it took that long .I was getting so annoyed as i sometimes have to do up to 3 loads a day, everything on quickwash i say !And sit the kiddies on top during the fast spin as fly lady says 'if it isn't fun it wont get done'!
(I am of course taking the p**s)

TortUREoiseChamber · 08/10/2006 10:10

Tumble dryers on their own are great but combined washer dryer machines are not.(in my experience anyway!)

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 08/10/2006 10:11

whole washing & drying takes that long. Only have cold going in, maybe thats why? Tumble drier bit isnt very good... going to buy seperate soon

squatchette · 08/10/2006 10:15

Quick tip to save money go shopping when they reduce everything time it just right as everyone snaps it up.
I do this in Sainsburys 6pm they do it ,i mainly get meat then freeze it as this is one of the most expensive items.

TortUREoiseChamber · 08/10/2006 10:19

I wish I lived near a supermarket or could drive!

Better go do 15 mins FLYing!

batinshoes · 08/10/2006 10:25

I do online Tesco shop every 2 weeks for big, household & freezer items and then I go once a week to the local supermarket for fresh stuff. I also get a veg box from Abel & Cole once a week which means I have to eat loads of veg and work out how to cook things so they arent wasted. We've been eating healthier since i started that...

squatchette · 08/10/2006 10:27

I see i've never had a combined washer dryer so didn't know this.Q how can you only have cold going in , next time you do say a 60 degree wash feel the clothes as soon as wash cycles finished are they not warm? Am i being thick here can some machines work with just cold and do the heating up un-aided.
Tortoise re your paint question I'd go for a shade of blue in a similar tone to both or one of the other two colours.E.g if it's light yellow and lilac then go for powder blue.If the lilac has a bluish tinge green may work well too as yellow+blue=green so they'd harmonise .BTW i want to be an interior designer when i grow up

batinshoes · 08/10/2006 10:29

tortoise - go for a mint green, then the area will look like ice cream

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 08/10/2006 10:31

I think it heats it up... not sure

Anyone have a playpen? DS is moving fast and is getting everywhere! I cant even go to the loo without securing him down to something!

squatchette · 08/10/2006 10:32

Duct tape's effective .

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 08/10/2006 10:34

ha!

Used all mine to fix shower head

Seriously thinking I need a playpen - really should be doing washing up, but, he really does get everywhere... and keeps headbutting walls!

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 08/10/2006 10:35

i thought it was dick tape?

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 08/10/2006 10:35

DUCK tape!

TortUREoiseChamber · 08/10/2006 10:46

15 mins done. Clean patch on kitchen work top now and dishwasher emptied and re-filled(yes i know it should of been done last night).
LOL @ Dick tape!
Ive not had a playpen for any of mine.I don't like them. Does it hurt to follow you to the loo!! What about one of these? DD2 had one and loved it. She was a very clingy baby but I could just get the washing up done before she cried.(pre-dishwasher days!)

squatchette · 08/10/2006 10:49

Wasn't sure myself only ever heard it said in rap lyrics that sort of thing. LOL at Dicktape maybe you could patent it as an alternative to undies why not celebs use Tit tape under backless dresses .Off to do a bit of flying back soon bye for now

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 08/10/2006 10:51

DH's birthday today so trying to have a chill out day.

Have tidied upstairs - have moved the girls into the same room, so been sorting clothes etc.

All washing from upstairs has been brought down ditto rubbish.

Kitchen still clean.

Living room needs toys put away and hoovered.

Wicker baskets in poundland yesterday have proved VERY useful for taking things upstairs/downstairs..... what a bargain!

Intend to FLY in the living room, and the bathroom and toilet today.... if i can stop eating DH's yummy choccy cake!!!
