Pollyanna, go to the Babysteps bit of the Flylady Homepage (in the left-hand menu bar) and that gives you 31 days of baby steps to ease you into the whole business. I am on day 22 (actually I think I'm really on 15, but some of the things I did already).

Then you gradually start doing the other stuff as you work through the days.

It's really helped me in terms of tidiness, if not (yet) cleanliness.

Flamesparrow · 13/09/2006 14:57

I feel like cr*p. Have done nothing and keep yelling at DD who isn't actually being naughty either

I want sleep.

Quootiepie · 13/09/2006 14:59

Im in and out like a yoyo... DH is off again today, so FLYing is up the creek abit again, although we have been totally clearing the "one other room"... only the bog to do now

While I remember - theres tons of new people!!! helloooooooo!

BBWBabeLisa · 13/09/2006 15:00

Hiya. I posted a message on the big thread a week or two ago but it kinda got swallowed up and I didn't get so much as a hello, never mind a welcome, so I'm giving it another go.
I bought the Shine Your Sink book months ago but have done nothing about it til now. I have JUST finished shining my sink. I've tossed the draining rack in the bin (whats the point in that when you have a dishwasher, other than to collect clutter and dirt and make it harder to shine the sink?). I've also had a clearout of DDs bottle box as she's now on cups and only has a bottle at bedtime. Not throwing them out as am ttc but they're no longer cluttering up the kitchen by spilling out of the plastic tub I keep them in.
My house is in a dreadful state, I was never much of a housekeeper before DD was born (8mths ago) and have even less energy for it now. Can't have anyone over without prior notice to fling everything into a room I can shut the door on. Really need to get this under control before baby number 2 otherwise I don't think I ever will.
Skribble, feel free to email me, as we seem to be starting the babysteps at the same time. I'm same name at hotmail.com.

Flamesparrow · 13/09/2006 15:02

tortoisesdonotwearshoes · 13/09/2006 15:05

Welcome BBWBabeLisa. Sorry we missed you last time.Gets difficult to keep up with messages on here!

I need to get off my GREAT BIG FAT ARSE!!

tamsino · 13/09/2006 15:20

welcome....

JessaJam · 13/09/2006 15:37

welcome skribble, and welcome again BBWBabelisa!

I created a weekly planner of my own yesterday (used the planner on the FLYlady website as inspiration, but avoided the cringey bits and the excessively organised bits) DH was very impressed!!! Have shifted some of the FLY things about a bit so the "home blessing" is on a sunday not monday as monday evening are generally too busy for a "session" like this and have put some of the morning rourine stuff into evening or before bed as I am in no way whatsoever a morning person and function at best at about 20% capacity until abour 10.30 am! By which time, I am at work!

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/09/2006 15:55

Welcome BBWBabeLisa and Skribble.

Lisa - you house sounds just likemine If you stick with the flylady it doesn't take long to see small but noticeable improvements.

BBWBabeLisa · 13/09/2006 16:00

Thanks for the welcomes! :-)
We live in army quarters and every year they send someone round to test all the gas appliances and smoke alarms. This afternoon was that time again. I was so chuffed that my kitchen was semi-presentable! Last year when they came round the sink was piled with dishes and I was mortified when I realised the guy was going to spend about 20 minutes in there!

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/09/2006 16:10

Arrghh need a rant.

Having a really crap day, ds not sleeping due to teeth or something.Big red tired eyes, whinging, clingy one minute, doesn't want me totouch him the next. I have turned into the evil shouty bitch mother from hell and hate it.

Was looking forward to taking him swimming this afternoon to get outof the house but it's cancelled, and have no motivation to go anywhere else instead.

The telly has just conked out. I've suspected it's been trying for a while but Jeremy Kyle finished it off. I only put it on cos I thought someone frommumsnet was goingto be on talking about car seats.

And why do nosey cows keep looking in my windows when they walk past. WOULD YOU LIKE A TOUR DEAR? or should i just get some net curtains with "Ha,nosey through that then bitch!" written on them.

I am just so fkg fed up. At least I don't have towory about breaking the news about the telly to dh. He's been on about getting a new one for ages but I kept telling him he wasn't allowed until thisone died.

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/09/2006 16:13

Sorrynone of that had anything to dowith flying. Not suprisingly I haven't done any today, thankgoodness I went intooverdrive yesterday.

AND THEFECKING SPACEBAR STILL DOESN@T WORK PROPELY

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

JessaJam · 13/09/2006 16:14

Crap days are awful aren't they. . I had one teh other day, couldn't get motivated, ds being whiney etc.
The next day was better. And I wondered why I hadn't just plonked him in his pushchair and gone for an aimless walk instead of sitting on teh sofa or the floor with ds and feeling low.

Just grit teeth and get through today, tomorrow is another day!

JessaJam · 13/09/2006 16:15

Ah ha! That's IT! Don't do over drive...it uses up to much FLYing energy and you just crash!

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/09/2006 16:18

Oh FFS.

I've justcheckedand it wasn't even Jeremy Kyle.It was Jeremy Vine.

I need shooting. I'm just off to stickmy head down my sparkleyclean shiny toilet.

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/09/2006 16:22

JessajamI know you are right. I should just go for a walk but...........

mummyhill · 13/09/2006 16:25

Welcome Skribble, BBWBabeLisa and anyone else I have missed. DD home from school living room trashed can I cry? Am hoping that it will be better when I get in from work at midnight.

Dontlookatme - feel free to rant as and when necessary about anything you need to get of your chest you will get support with all of it not just flying. HOpe you have a better day tomorrow.

I am trying to take each day as it comes and if I am having a bad one ditch everything and get out the house as tomorrow can only get better.

tortoisesdonotwearshoes · 13/09/2006 16:27

DontlookatmeImshy Sorry you are having a crap day.I get many of those! Or am i just lazy!!

Bathroom is now the only room in the house that i would let anyone into! Ive just cleaned all that i didn't on monday.just need to whiten up the grout. Now do i scrub it or get one of these grout whitening things?(pens i think they are!)

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/09/2006 16:28

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/09/2006 16:30

You're allowed tohave bad days, you've gotalot ofstressfulstuff todeal with.

mummyhill · 13/09/2006 16:30

Ta think I will.

Flamesparrow · 13/09/2006 16:40

Awww

I managed to get some sleep... and feel worse for it. I think I'll just write off today completely.

sorkycake · 13/09/2006 19:10

Don'tlookatme you've cheered me up no end with the Jeremy mix up! PMSL at that.

My back has decided enough is enough with 20 weeks to go .
I think it's the pushing a buggy with a tired 4 yo on a buggy board, back from school, 2 miles, that did it.
Hope it recovers for tomorrow or I'm stuffed tbh.

Haven't done anything cleaning wise today except my norm. Have some ironing to do but doubt I'll be able to stand.
Dh has gone to visit his gran in hospital (89yo and in CCU after a full hysterectomy for huge tumour).

All in all it sounds like a pretty shitty day has been had by all

Hello lisa didn't mean to ignore anyone.

This thread moves so fast that by the time you've caught up and posted replies it's 20 odd messages further on.

hazelnuts · 13/09/2006 19:10
