Hi all, luckily my fridge is integrated and has no top - good job too as the top of our old fridge was a real dumping ground.

I'm still in the very early stages (no control journal yet, just post-it notes), but am already finding this (a) life transforming but (b) very time consuming. Flylady puts great emphasis on getting to bed early but I've been having really late nights doing my evening routine, and am consequently getting very tired. I love my shiny kitchen but don't relish still being in it at 11pm. Has anyone encountered this challenge and conquered it?

shazronnie · 05/09/2006 16:41

you could do your evening routine earlier perhaps?
I shine my sink straight after dinner, when I am cleaning up the dirty dishes - then if anyone uses it before bedtime I just wipe and dry it to keep it clean.
I lay my clothes out for next day while I am running the kids bath (although sometimes I forget this.)

Then all that's left is clean teeth and moisturise before i get to bed.

No chance of flying today as DS2's party (hurray! we all survived!) and unexpected guests staying overnight tonight.

But have done laundry, kitchen is clear, removed rubbish magnets from front of fridge and organised shoes in the cloakroom. Would like to sort out my tupperware. I swear mine really is reproducing.

Boys back at school tomorrow, so I will begin in earnest.

DontlookatmeImshy · 05/09/2006 17:01

Aww hope you feel better soon Cappuccino.

It's a nightmare isn't it Mummyhill.

Anyway he ended up sleeping for 2 hours so after I calmed down, I did washing up, unloaded/refilled dishwasher, hoovered kitchen/utility room, cleaned out the guineapigs, dusted and cleaned top and front of fridge and then sat down and had a nice pie and chipsfor dinner

Flamesparrow · 05/09/2006 18:03

Been out all afternoon, I can't believe how calm I'm feeling with all this.

My mum does the bedtime routine early evening too

I am just going up earlier, and am enjoying the poddling about and winding down.

samnbabes · 05/09/2006 19:07

Um, hello, can I play too?
Discovered this thread by accident last night -and am now very overexcited. By cleaning. Worrying.

Anyway, I now have a lovely shiny sink, and just off to tupperware-cull ... but a question for you all. Am concerned i may not have sufficient natural obedience for all this - I am already rebelling against the shoes-rule - have replaced it with 'full face cleanse and perfume' ... am I beyond hope???

Jasnem · 05/09/2006 19:08

I'm not really doing the bedtime routine properly. I am leaving the kitchen clean and the sink shiny, but not even getting tomorrows clothes out. I also stay up way too late for someone who is up bf a baby every night, and getting up at 6 am!

This may just be me, but I am noticing a positive effect on my relationship from FLYing. Most of our arguments have been about cleaning in the past, and now he has nothing to complain about, and I have nothing to react to we are both being much nicer to each other.

Jasnem · 05/09/2006 19:09

sam - hi, very few of us are wearing shoes!

sheepgomeep · 05/09/2006 20:04

yep sod the shoes whats the point!

Why is the Flylady so obsessed with shoes??

boomie · 05/09/2006 20:10

Hi

This is my first post on MN and I would like to play too - this flying lark sounds like fun (or am I sad).

Boomie x

mummyhill · 05/09/2006 20:21

Welcome boomi.

If you wear shoes in my house i get cross specially if i've just cleaned the laminate floors as they show dirty footprints really well.

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 05/09/2006 20:40

How many times do I have to tell you?

Wearing shoes really works - you all sit there in your slippers saying our leader Flylady doesn't know what she is on about....but just try the shoes! You will get lots more done - I promise!

Welcome samnbabes and Bommie too!

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 05/09/2006 20:41

sorry - Boomie

calebsmummy · 05/09/2006 20:53

I don't wear the shoes!!

Been out most of the day, but made sure my kitchen was sparkly before I left. Definately v. good at keeping the kitchen clean now and my sink shiny

Not been so very good at the rest yet, but did put everything in the hall away today.

My dishwasher is still working but we are being very pleasant to it (talking nicely to it and stroking it occasionally)

Have been very tired this evening. A combination of resumed nursery run and school starting (though tis secondary school so I just have to nag a little in the morning, not take him)

Tomorrow busy again, but will have a couple of hours in the afternoon to Fly. Birthday pressie shopping for 4 in the morning and party at teatime...but the children will be fed out thus I will have sparkly kitchen earlier

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 05/09/2006 21:00

WEAR SHOES

I feel a crusade coming on ; join me and just try the shoes...

AmandaP · 05/09/2006 21:04

Hi all - I don't wear the shoes either - well, not lace up ones usually. I'm either in flip-flops, v. scruffy mules, or occasionally actually trainers. The rest of the time I'm in my socks as I'm always in and out of wellies. But I have to be honest and say that I don't believe I would be more effective IN shoes that OUT. Although - Shazronnie - you speak with such authority that I'm almost tempted.....

Good day today - despite kids and dp being around (kids not being at school until tomorrow). I've cleaned out my tupperware cupboard - not that any of it is actually genuine tupperware - most of it, I realised, are ice-cream boxes (that explains the weight gain then ) I cleared out a whole black bin bag full of stuff! Plus the usual routine things, so I'm feeling good today and looking forward to having some freedom tomorrow!

(I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to being on my own so I can CLEAN my house. My god. what has become of me?!)

tortoisesdonotwearshoes · 05/09/2006 21:27
