its a 9 in 1 steam mop and it is the most fun ive had cleaning in ages! my home is now hygienically steamed....no mean feat with dogs, cats, rats, kids....

its this one

its fab.
its got emulsion of window frames, the cupboard fronts were so easy it was a joy, the hob, the stainless steel splashback, the fridge, the floors, the tiles, the shower door.....all sparkling and done in seconds.

it was a cleaning revelation.
im now addicted to steaming stuff....including my thumb...which is dont recommend cos that hurts.

the reviews are not wrong on this one....
(morphy richards - commission please!)

Just ordered mine! Can't wait for our house to completely transform, our finances to grow, my weight to drop and fame to come a calling

Whatson, I got the home pro

Paq · 01/06/2014 08:01

Oh I feel so sad Sad

I tried, I really tried with my new steam cleaner yesterday and it just didn't seem to cut it.

I blasted the stubborn hard to reach grime in the kitchen and bathroom and it just stayed there. Mould-remover and an old tooth brush seemed much more effective on the bits I could reach.

Is my grime just too, er, grimy I am a lazy slattern who hasn't cleaned my house properly in years or am I doing something wrong? How long do you blast a spot with the steam?

Also, my steamer seems to blow, um, hot and cold Grin i.e sometimes it trickles out and then there's an unexpected whoosh which lasts about 20 seconds before subsiding again.

Help me steam-cleaning experts! DH is just waiting with his "I told you so's!"

LIZS · 01/06/2014 08:08

Which attachment are you using? I found the small flat one good on the kitchen crevices and the bent tube good for the dishwasher door especially around the crew heads. Agree it doesn't carry much pressure though.

Paq · 01/06/2014 09:14

Mostly the bent tube one.

I'm a bit nervous about using the steam cleaner in the kitchen as we have shiny units, I know it's ridiculous but I worry about melting them Blush

jetsetlil · 01/06/2014 09:17

Has anyone been brave enough to try it on Karndean flooring yet??

I desperately want one, but have karndean floors throughout. Not sure I can justify the cleaner for the hand held nozzles alone, it has to be able to do the floors as well.....

VivaLeBeaver · 01/06/2014 11:34

I've cleaned loads of stuff now. I still have some crud on the toilet seat hinges which isn't shifting. Will keep trying.

What do we think about the hygiene aspect of using the same attachment for the loo seat and then using it in the oven?? Does the steam mean that its self sterilising?

Suzannewithaplan · 01/06/2014 11:35

Don't you just end up with a house full of water vapor?

VivaLeBeaver · 01/06/2014 11:39

My bathroom did look a bit like a sauna earlier and I've had to open the windows.

LIZS · 01/06/2014 11:59

Don't you just clean the attachment in between ?

VivaLeBeaver · 01/06/2014 12:10

I've been using the bristle brush attachment for scrubbing. Wasn't sure if it needed cleaning and if so what to clean it with? Guess I could bleach it.

mswibble · 01/06/2014 12:24

I used my Polti in my disgusting shower cubicle yesterday. There was grim black cruddy stuff all around the grouting and bottom om the tiles (yes I am ashamed but in my defence I had tried bleaching and every harsh chemical known to man and even the the hearty of scrubbing would not shift it.

My new polti didnt really do anything with steam alone but I used an old toothbrush and the crud just melted away. I havent got a proper scrubby brush attachment but I think the toothbrush methos will do ok for me.

Doing my mattress and pillows today! I may be a complete sad case but I honestly love my steam cleaner!

ThisIsNotMyHat · 01/06/2014 12:55

I've bought mine! Just waiting for it to arrive. So, explain about the carpets to me...It doesn't really clean them? We have wooden floors downstairs so I think it should be great with them (judging by reviews) but carpet on the stairs and upstairs. The carpet on the stairs is particularly grubby so I was hoping there would be a way to lift some of that! :)

leeloo1 · 01/06/2014 14:09

Which Polti do you have mswibble? I've ordered the 9-in-1 Morphy, but am eyeing up others in case it doesn't live up to its reputation... :)

mswibble · 01/06/2014 14:20

I have the Polti Vaporetto Pocket - ive tackled quite a few jobs with it now and am pretty impressed. It was £45 I think, reduced on Amazon.

If I had a few hundred to spare I definitely would have gotten one of the larger models that look similar to cylinder vacuums. My only bug bear with mine is the small tank. Mine has a safety feature which means you cant open it to refill until it has cooled right down. Obviously this is good as it means I wont get boiling water spurting out but it means that from needing to refill, waiting for it to cool and refill and then waiting for it to sufficiently heat up again can be up to 25mins. Time for a brew break I suppose!

Chocolateporridge · 01/06/2014 18:12

I really want to take the plunge and buy one of these too, but I'm worried that it won't actually do the amazing things I expect of it Grin

Can anyone tell me, would it be able to:

Clean the black mold off the brown sealant around my windows (no cleaning products work on this)?

Clean the impossible to remove grey marks off the inside of my very old and rough claw footed type bath (the kind you see cows drinking put of!)?

Clean the black marks off the grey seal around my washing machine drum?

Blast the scum out of my radiator tops? I just can't figure out how to get the radiators apart to be able to clean them.

Waiting anxiously to click "add to basket"!

BeetRooster · 01/06/2014 18:38

Well, mine arrived yesterday. So far I've done:

The floors - very good

The oven - not so good, but I used the nozzle attachment without bristles so I think that's where I've gone wrong.

The crack down the edge of the hob and sink with the nozzle - very good!

Taps with the nozzle - very good

To do later this week - windows and loo.

But I'm not sure if mine sounds right/is working properly. Do you hold the trigger down all the time? When using the hand held bit, it sputters about and then has a crazy blast of steam for about ten seconds! And when using the floor mop, it is very quiet, cannot even hear steam hissing, it just clicks. Is this normal?? Is anyone able to post a video of theirs in action?

BeetRooster · 01/06/2014 18:39

Chocolate, I'd say yes to the radiator scum, and I'm not sure about the rest. I almost did the washing machine but got worried that it might melt it!

Squidstirfry · 01/06/2014 18:56

Can anyone tell me, when you use a steam mop on your floor, do you need to use a floorcleaner like bleach as well, then wipe it off with the steam mop or do you just use the steam on it's own? Same with bathroom surfaces so you need to spray the stuff over your surfaces first.

Sorry I'm not very 'domestic' but very interested!

thank u

LIZS · 01/06/2014 19:02

For floors just sue steam and the mop cover soaks up the dirty residue , tiles it evaporates. The temperature of steam is sterilising enough without detergent. Mine sounds similar bert and yes you need to hold the trigger in to release the steam but I find I get a blast after releasing it on handheld which can be annoying

gorionine · 01/06/2014 21:29

but I find I get a blast after releasing it on handheld which can be annoying
Yes I found that too, Have decided to things'

  1. I shall use that tomy advantage, like a 'bonus' feature
  2. I shall keep my fingers away when I stop pressing the trigger to avoid boiling the.again
