Hi all

I have no children (on hol with their dad) and no DP (playing bloody football) so how I am supposed to have a family fun day?

I have the heating on and now I have caught up on my threads think I might put a DVD on and snuggle up under a quilt - sounds like fun to me.

Just after lunch we had unexpected guests (DPs relatives) who had never been before and I had to show them round the house and guess what?

I could do it and wasn't ashamed as I am a Flylady!!

I have had to unsubscribe to all the christmas group emails as I turned on at lunch time and had 55 messages. I am now subscribed to just the main one each week!

SKYTVADICT · 02/09/2006 13:38

Bloody hell tortoise - feel very sorry for you!!

Jasnem · 02/09/2006 13:50

Tortoise - at least now you won't have to iron the things then keep naff little pictures forever/until you can throw them away without anyone noticing.

Cappucino - where do I get the organised mum calendar...sounds like something I might actually use, as opposed to the control thing (I looked and reckon I'd make it, use it for a week then file it in the bin )

I'm subscribed to the Christmas weekly email but haven't had it yet. I seem to be getting a random selection of messages. Nothing so far today, 20 or so yesterday, 5 the day before, and none the day before that,

shazronnie · 02/09/2006 14:29

I've got the weekly planner from organised mum and it is fab!

Tortoise! Your floor!!
Do you want to add your kids to the free to good homes list?

shazronnie · 02/09/2006 14:31

Also, need to confess, family fun day has been dinner at mcdonalds.

Am I blacklisted from mumsnet now?

Jasnem · 02/09/2006 14:45

THANKYOU (sorry) Shazronnie. I've just ordered one.

tortoise · 02/09/2006 15:09

Yes i think i will add mine to the free to good homes list!

I still haven't got round to ordering my calender!

You're very welcome tamsino; the more the merrier!

AmandaP · 02/09/2006 17:05

I'm not going to go down the office in a bag, or organised mum calendar as I have to confess - I am a fully paid-up member of the Dodo Pad cult - see here

dodo pad

tortoise · 02/09/2006 17:18

welcome tamsino.

Im liking the look of the dodo pad.Now which one should i have? Hmmm!!!

Boys have gone back to their Dads now and the place is a wreck. They all seem to move things and drop things and its just impossible for them to pick them up!

P.S Am hoping not to get so into Flying that I feel compelled to buy the merchandise Is it really that addictive?

tortoise · 02/09/2006 20:18

I just did an unusual thing! Ive tidied the front room floor without sitting here thinking I must tidy it.I just got up and did it.

tortoise well done, gold star for you

I just tidied up my linen cupboard immediately after putting dd2 to bed cos it's right outside her room. Just got right to it like you, instead of walking past it

Now I need help. I have a load of old towels and sheets to throw away that aren't ever needed or used. Is there any reason to keep this stuff? Will I regret it in a year?

anyone?

AmandaP · 02/09/2006 20:33

Capp - you just go ahead and bin them! It's a fantastic feeling of release (I've done the same) and the chances are you won't need them in the future!

Go on, you know you want to....

tortoise · 02/09/2006 20:39

Bin them,Bin them,Bin them!!

Or donate to an animal shelter for the cats/dogs as i think they take old towels etc for bedding.

Im adding to Ebay.I have a whole cupboard of stuff to sell and will be glad when its clear!!

OP posts:
sorkycake · 02/09/2006 21:11

Take the towels to the local PDSA, they always need bedding for aminals after their op's.
I have been to our allotment digging today in the pouring rain. Nothing quite like it! Think the kids may have opted for McD's if given the option.
Made a roast dinner, cleaned house, went shopping and had a nap. My day is done.

Ooh I bought an electronic label maker today, I'm very pleased with it! Have labelled the label maker 'sorkycake's'

I've let my planner go a bit over the hol's but sat today and organised my life from this week on with vengeance.

arfur · 02/09/2006 22:37

Does it really work? My house is always a tip and I am lazy would love to turn things around and both kids will be in full time school in a week so will have no excuse really. Just need a bit of convincing to hit the join flylady button ........

tortoise · 02/09/2006 22:41

arfur- It really does/is working for many of us on this thread.Join and see how you go.Little bits at a time make a big difference in the long run.
