calebsmummy - you def become sink obsessed very quickly. My DH is afraid to turn on the tap in case water drips on my sink and I see a mark!!

singersgirl - FL has a little bit on ironing here where she suggests ways to fit it in your routine. I tackled my ironing mountain by doing 15 mins every day for a week, and since then I have been doing it at least every Friday, so my pile has not got so enormous again!

Jasnem · 02/09/2006 08:42

calebsmummy - I've become shiny sink obsessed, too. I fear I spent most of yesterday lecturing my friend (who probably has bigger things to worry about) on the joy of a shiny sink!

I need to move beyond the shinny sink though. Nopw that normal life has resumed the rest of the house is starting to sink under the clutter again.
Going to check where I should start....

Morning FLYers.
Hope all are well today.
Me and the DD's have colds.DD1's turn last night to keep waking!

In answer to your Q's Ruby
1.No idea!
2.Only tip i would say is freeze it.That depends on the size of your freezer and space but it should just break off once frozen.(well it works with gum!)

All morning jobs done.I even remembered to make my bed before coming down stairs!

Hello to everyone. This site is Brilliant!!!!!!!!! I found it by mistake and now I feel like I belong!!!!!!!
I have always been a huge fan of Anthea's Perfect Housewife (and was getting worried about how anxious I was not to miss it!) My dh was a bit worried to find bits of lemon hovering around in the dishwasher and my kids just generally think I need to get out more!! I can't believe there are so many more of you! ITS GREAT!!!

Lucybug · 02/09/2006 10:02

You know the toffee dilema, maybe instead of putting them in the freezer, try putting a bag of ice cubes on it, it might make it cold enough to lift off??

shazronnie · 02/09/2006 10:20

Welcome Lucybug; yes we're all sad together here! No judgements made if you get enjoyment from shiny sinks!

RR - if you find an adoption agency let me know - I've got a couple of DS free to a good home.

shazronnie · 02/09/2006 10:21

RR - white vinegar is great for getting sticky stuff off, but test it on the velvet first!

Cappuccino · 02/09/2006 10:36

Ruby - smirk - tell us more about the Office in a Bag

I am actually - honestly - dying to know

ooh! ooh! and did she send you a free clingie? Where is it clinging exactly?

I have done my Saturday morning routine and now I am theoretically free to play with my children

but I don't wanna

tortoise · 02/09/2006 10:42

Welcome Lucybug.

My dc are watching Nick jr! Even the 9 year old.
I guess i should do something with them. Its raining so not park weather.

My sink is still shiny , but like Jasnem, I need move beyond the shiny sink!

DH sadly seems quite interested in Flylady although when initially telling him about it yesterday his response was 'What are you on about now?' I have offered to buy him a lovely house coat too, so he can enjoy flying too.

Haven't actually done anything again, just watched dishwasher man fiddle with dishwasher and then charge us £55 to tell us it's broken

Ruby, I would suggest we do a swap, your 3 girls for my 3 boys, but I doubt it would help much.

Hey I say I haven't done anything, but I have dressed, breakfasted and tidied/cleaned up after 2 small boys, showered and dressed, made beds and washed breakfast things (cos I need to keep my shiny sink )

Has anyone tried Anthea's towel folding? It's great, but DH and various friends do think I am mad...hey ho...they could be right!

Right off to put the baby in the dustbin...well I do need to declutter!!

tortoise · 02/09/2006 11:02

I have not seen Anthea so don't know how she folds towels!

I can't bear Anthea! Denim non-aprons, flying purple fairies, tea towels, dusters, even control journals - all these things I can bear just not La Turner. She lives near us in a house that she bought from parents of friends of mine. Apparently they have ripped all the character out of the house, and everything - walls, corners, paths etc - is incredibly neat and straight. Not exactly what you expect in a v. old house, but there you go! She's frequently required to open fetes and things locally, and every time I am sorely tempted to go along with (wait for it....) unbrushed hair, unironed clothes, maybe even children with dirty faces. Then we can ask her for an autograph - proffering grubby pen and paper - and see how fast she runs in the opposite direction. Sad aren't I?!!

Flying has been severely limited this week due to DH being at home for week. What is it with men (she says, generalising hugely) - he makes as much mess as the children, but then has a go at me about the state of the house? Not that this is the right place for this but I am approaching my limit with said husband. Life is too short to put up with such hassle.

Ah well, at least I have a shiny sink and MN....

Cappuccino · 02/09/2006 11:43

Ruby you'll just have to move to the US

cos a tool like that can't go unused

tortoise · 02/09/2006 12:03

LOL @ AmandaP!
I guess im going to have to watch an episode now just to see what its all about!

a question for those with the organised mum calnedar - do you have the weekly planner one or the home planner one

singersgirl · 02/09/2006 12:11

Thanks for ironing link, Shazronnie! Think it will take me several years of 15 minutes a day- but most of it is summer holiday stuff that we won't need for a year now anyway!

Boys are waiting for me to do Horrible Science kit with them, so haven't bothered sweeping up the cake crumbs under the kitchen table.

What is a clingy?

BBWBabeLisa · 02/09/2006 12:18

Hi Folks
I've just purchased the book and am about to start it. Mind if I join you? My husband usually shines our sink (although he is incapable of putting anything in the rest of the kitchen away or shutting cupboard doors), but I am going to steal it away from him and shine it this afternoon by way of getting started.

Cappuccino · 02/09/2006 12:32

popsycal the postman just delivered my homeplanner one this morning

am itching to get going with stickers

but dd1 is involved in a Craft Project With Glue and Glitter
