arfur - I'm just reporting back after shining my sink (and cleaning up the rest of the kitchen). My house is (was)always a tip, and I'm lazy, too. I'm not sure if it's fly lady or this thread that's keeping me going (mostly mn I think) but somethings working for me. Give it a go...you've nothing to lose.

JessaJam · 03/09/2006 00:02

I think what is mainly keeping me going is tha fact that dh said he wouldn't be impressed until I was still doing it after a week...so sheer bloody-mindedness is my motivation...I'll show him!!! >

shazronnie · 03/09/2006 00:16

Arfur - def try it - my house has never been so neat!

AmandaP - I had a dodo pad this year, but now I prefer my organised mum one. But i'm still using the dodo to do meal plans, and work hours. Flylady would prob disapprove of using 2!!

shazronnie · 03/09/2006 00:18

sorkycake I have a label machine too! Got mine after Anthea's last Series!

calebsmummy · 03/09/2006 07:52

It's rubbing off on DH [excited emoticon]

I was too tired to swish and swipe last night, but came down this morningand although not quite up to my standards, he has left the kitchen nice and clean for me and the sink is nearly shiny

Oh better go DS3 has just woken....at 7.50...amazing for a child who normally gets up at 5!!

tamsino · 03/09/2006 08:00

I am very excited. I have a shiny sinkl, clean kitchen and a tidy living room (i hoovered it last night). Off to inlaws for the day but i've been running through the ideas with DH and he said ' you know, having your shoes on is a really good idea - it will make you do stuff!). I type as I sit half dressed and in bare feet

Have a good day all.

spangles · 03/09/2006 08:26

I am really keen to get organised and nom school starts tomorrow I want to get 'stuck in' so do I just go to the web site and Fly Lady tells me what jobs to do... how does this work.
PS I am sat here half dressed like Tamsino

oxocube · 03/09/2006 09:24

Caleb's mum, the towel folding thing is fab isn't it? Have only seen 2 episodes and a lot of the stuff just isn't me, but I do have beautifully folded towels

tortoise · 03/09/2006 09:24

Morning FLYers.
Im dressed but hair is sticking up everywhere!
Remembered to make the bed again!
All fed.
Spangles-We are in a zone each week to work on.This week we are back in the kitchen.Spend 15mins a day de-cluttering.Also we have to hit the hot spots. If you look on the website it will give the details to you.
You are suppose to just follow the baby steps to start with but most of us got carrried away with cleaning!
Most important thing is to shine your sink.

morning flyers, think my wings have fallen off

Jasnem · 03/09/2006 09:30

morning,
why, what's happened trinity?

I'm in my dressing gown, grubby sink full of washing up
Baby covered in porridge, bed not made (but dp is still asleep in it)
I will go and sort it out.

Aww tr.Stick them back on quick! It sounded like you got off to a good start the other day.
I finally realised the other day, after reading the website more, that it is just 15 mins a day in the zone.It may take months to de-clutter but it will get done as long as things not needed are getting chucked/recycled/donated.
The zone doesn't need to be tidy within the week.

OP posts:
oxocube · 03/09/2006 09:31

I couldn't imagine coming downstairs not dressed . I always get up, shower etc., dressed and downstairs (except when kids were babies)Thought everyone did the same!!

trinityrhino · 03/09/2006 09:32

since I took dd2 swimming yesterday morning I feel like I have been run over by a truck and just can't get it together, I have been putiting the washing on though but now clean washing is just piling up cause I need to find a place to put it, all the drawers are full of clothes some of whifch don't fit, oh shit we have too many clothes

Jasnem · 03/09/2006 09:40

I'm really not a morning person. (Youngest is only 6 months if that helps excuse the dressing gown). Up since 5.30 with baby, 6.30 with dd2, 7.30 for all 3.
I used to get ready while the kids were eating breakfast, but will have to get ready earlier to accomodate feeding the baby solid food now.

Trinity, you really are too hard on yourself. DD2 would rather go out than have a tidy house, I'm sure. Empty one drawer, put aside the too small stuff and fold the rest (more will go in if it's neat). Like tortoise said, it's tiny steps every day, not a complete overnight transformation we are aiming for.

Oxocube.I do get dressed before I come down stairs. Can't shower as I don't have one.

Infact the dirty tortoise has just realised that she has not had a bath in 3 days because of the girls waking with colds!(and now ive admitted that on mn!!!)

OP posts:
oxocube · 03/09/2006 09:43

Saying that, I could quite happily get into my pyjamas at 9 every evening. Am def a morning person. If I don't do (or at least start) something before lunch time, I know its not going to get done that day.

oxocube · 03/09/2006 09:43

tortoise · 03/09/2006 09:44

tr I sorted DD2's draws yeserday. And I am just the same re putting washing away.I said a few days ago on here i was going to do it but still haven't.Ironed bits that needed it though.

Jasnem · 03/09/2006 10:51

I have a shiny sink, and a clean, dressed baby.
I'm a night person who is forced to get up early (but I still don't go to bed before midnight most nights)I was in my pjs hoping to go back to bed when dp got up, but he's still asleep, so I'm going to give up and getdressed.

tr, I keptall my dds clothes in case ds was another girl, and am still getting rid of things now. It all takes time. Just don't give up completely and things will improve.

domestickler · 03/09/2006 10:51

Morning Flyers!

I went away on Friday night to a party to celebrate my Grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary ahhhhhhh

I have some FLYlights to note - The house was tidy and clean when I left and it kept on giving me little burts of pleasure all weekend knowing I wasnt coming home to a tip (as normally would be!)

When I was sorting the hotel room for us checking out I just couldnt help straightening the bed, wiping the window sill etc and even TOLD MY SISTER OFF for dropping a biscuit wrapper on the floor and leaving it.

I think I am fundamentally changing WOW

tortoise · 03/09/2006 10:56

Morning dome.
LOL@ Tidying hotel room!
Did you shine the taps?
I need to find something to do instead of sitting here!

Jasnem, I have the same problem as you, my DS3 gets up v.v. early. It kind of got to me this morning so when DH got up I fell asleep on the sofa until 10.15 with children running around me (DH supervising tho) He fed them brekkie and loaded the dishwasher and now is currently sorting the garage for apparent e-baying.

My house isn't actually visibly cluttered, just don't open cupboards here We did only move here 4 months ago so garage is packed to the brim with boxes full of stuff we probably don't need...PC bits of DH's, in fact most of the junk is his. I just find that I am constantly tidying after the boys that I don't get time to declutter the cupboards.

Having the kitchen clean and tidy this weekend has made a big difference though as DH and DS1 (12) have made an effort to keep it that way. Just gotta do the floor now.

Today by the end I am going to have put away all of the clothes (returned from hols last Saturday so have lots to put away) and I may even sort some of DS3's clothes to sell. I had to keep and still have to keep DS2's clothes for DS3. Ooh just noticed the playroom needs urgent attention Thats gonna take more than 15 mins.

Can you tell I am stalling
