Don't say everything. It doesn't have to be particularly gruelling, or time consuming, or disgusting, but I bet you have one household task that you hate out of all proportion.

For me, it's putting away washing. I don't much like hanging it out to dry, but putting it away in drawers and wardrobes, when the coat hangers are tangling with each other, and there's only one of each sock... Shudder.

Yes dusting. How often do people dust? I vacuum a lot but rarely dust.

Not as bad as my friend's batty old Granny, she used to put clingfilm on her ornaments so she didn't have to dust them. I know, makes no sense to me either.

NeutralNameChange · 04/12/2013 14:30

Cleaning out the fridge of leftovers. We waste so much.

IroningBored · 04/12/2013 15:06

Just noticed my MN name is also the name of this thread on discussions of the day.

trashcanjunkie · 04/12/2013 15:42

I despise hanging out and putting away. Worst jobs ever

LieInsAreRarerThanTigers · 04/12/2013 15:51

Ironing is to be avoided at all costs I actually don't mind the activity when it feels worthwhile, e.g. a special outfit for a special occasion or something, but the futility of ironing children's clothes Shock, and the cost of the electricity Shock and the time I don't have - just not gonna happen.

Putting away loads of anything - washing, shopping, toys, papers...

Having to do all the other clearing away, sweeping, wiping, tidying, moving furniture etc before being able to wash the floor - if I could just wash the floor when it looks a bit dirty I wouldn't mind at all, but takes hours to get to that point and I am exhausted by then!

apocketfulofposy · 04/12/2013 17:54

theres nothing i hate, but i like putting clothes way the least,i have found ways to make the other jobs enjoyable, but not that.

Weelady77 · 04/12/2013 18:14

Ruby Flint I damp wipe everyday and dust twice a week

Cathycat · 04/12/2013 18:47

The boys miss the toilet and wee down the side of it. It's very close next to a wall. Lovely yellow orange patch on floor. I try to mop it but it never clears it up. I then kneel down to wipe the floor with antibacterial wipes in the small gap. Half the time my face, hair or arms brush against the dirty toilet or wall. Lush! Hate it.

bishbashboosh · 04/12/2013 18:55

All of it

cheapskatemum · 04/12/2013 19:06

Cathycat - have you seen those shapes you put in the toilet bowl water for DHs little boys to aim at when they pee? Might be worth a punt?

I'm with the fridge clean haters. Think it's because it takes a whole day & it's never me that's spilt the gunky stuff I'm wiping up. If I'd knocked something over in the fridge I'd've wiped it up at the time Angry

Mirage · 04/12/2013 19:29

I love tackling a weedy drive or patio,if any of my customers ask me to do that I'm happy to oblige. Also love weeding and hacking back brambles ect.

I hate making beds and putting away washing.

mrspremise · 04/12/2013 20:31

Peeling potatoes. And changing bed linen because my arms are too short

barbarianoftheuniverse · 04/12/2013 21:23

The kitchen after cooking, especially floury cooking. And yes, yes to Bonsoir's medals for the cooks.

Also hate unflattening sofa cushions

and

scrambled egg saucepans

but love darning woolly socks.

Kiwiinkits · 04/12/2013 22:45

Emptying the dishwasher or putting away dishes. Hate it. Over it.

Kiwiinkits · 04/12/2013 22:50

I used to hate cleaning windows but since I bought my Ettore squeegee set I love it. Professional job in two seconds flat. Immensely satisfying.

purplemurple1 · 05/12/2013 07:54

fetching in wood for the fires - so illogical having to go outside in minus degress to shovel snow, move tarpulins, tyres and pallates to get to the wood and then climb over an icey wood pile to find dry ish wood to bring in, normally taking 10 trips each time and then having to undress to go far enough in to the house to hear if the bb is awake from his nap and crying - it takes bloody ages, and is a pain in the arse as it really needs to be done during daylight so this time of year I can't leave it for DH to do after work.

BigToesofFrog · 05/12/2013 10:04

I love putting away the washing! - after folding it neatly into piles, which is easy as I have arranged it by owner and type of garment on the dryer

My most hated is putting the recycling out into the big bins which are kept outside to be collected. The big bins are too big to go in the house, we don't have a garage. So they are always wet and covered in dead leaves and slugs . Whenever I pick one up it has somehow stored a puddle of filthy water somewhere which sploshes down my arm or leg. You have to fill them up with cardboard or whatever and then try to fit the wet, slug-infested stretchy cover over the bin to keep the stuff in / rain out. I always feel like I need a bath afterwards.

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 05/12/2013 10:20

Purple - that's what weekends are for Grin

Make sure you have enough room in the house, by the fire, so he can stock it properly Wink

Kiwi - is it good for the inside of windows as well? I have a window cleaner for the outside, but I always make a complete hash of the insides - another job I hate!!

Peetle I have jobs that you would swear my mind builds up to painting the Forth Bridge as well, mad isn't it Grin

Can I add anything that takes me away from MNing putting the duvet cover on to my list please :)

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 05/12/2013 11:18

I hate cleaning the cooker. Actually I hate cleaning altogether, which is why I have cleaner Smile

Putting away washing is really annoying too, especially as I have to do eberyone's, I wouldn't mind if it was just mine.

TwoTearsInABucket · 05/12/2013 11:47

vaccuming. Gah.

And cleaning any item that has been in contact with potato. We don't have a dishwasher so the potato pots will taint the water and leave potato crumbs over everything else that is washed after it. And if you don't do it quick enough, then it is like cleaning concrete off your pots.

peanutbutterandbanana · 05/12/2013 19:01

Am wondering if I'm the only person on this thread who doesn't mind ironing? I set it up in front of the TV and watch programmes that I have recorded. Love the satisfaction of a big ironed pile. But yes, hate then distributing it out to family bedrooms. Kids have to put their own stuff away and if I find clothes on floor then they have to iron their own stuff from next load (cackle cackle!)

And I don't mind sewing nametapes on or mending things.

Hate hate hate writing weekly shopping list, planning the meals, doing the online shop. It seems to take forever. I hate then cooking the meals and clearing up afterwards. A lottery win would see me hire a cook.

Hate hoovering.
Hate the amount of time I spend moving things from place to place to try and keep house tidy (losing battle)
Hate mopping kitchen floor
Hate changing the food recycling bin (yuk)

Also spend a lot of my life wiping sink and draining board. I hate seeing pools of water harbouring life-forms of bacteria. Makes me feel ill.

Do not mind unloading dishwasher.

Essiebee · 05/12/2013 20:14

Well, when I retired I quite enjoyed doing housework ; it was the novelty of doing it in the daylight, and you could see the dirt you got rid of. Now, unfortunately, I dislike it all, and there's only me to blame for the mess.

AllDirections · 05/12/2013 21:37

Worse cleaning out the stale water and filters in washing machine

I have never done that! Am I supposed to? Hmm

You can pay a man to clean wheelie bins, cost about £5 and he does it every 4th week.

I'm off to find the wheelie bin cleaner's number because mine is minging and to google Ettore squeegees Grin

Bakingnovice · 05/12/2013 21:52

Bathrooms!! Anything to do with bathrooms. The toilet, the bastard shower door, the bastard shower door runners, the plug holes, the nasty bendy bit behind the toilet, inside the toilet, under the disgusting toilet seat, round the bath, in the bath, the bastard tiles and the bastard grouting.....

I'm getting a cleaner just to come in and do the bathrooms once a week. Just thinking about doing it makes me cry.

Other than this I love cleaning.

parques · 13/12/2013 22:44

Still getting the rage with Henry.... my bloody pissed break-dancing hoover - I'm sure he was spinning on his head today!!!!! Grin
