Don't say everything. It doesn't have to be particularly gruelling, or time consuming, or disgusting, but I bet you have one household task that you hate out of all proportion.

For me, it's putting away washing. I don't much like hanging it out to dry, but putting it away in drawers and wardrobes, when the coat hangers are tangling with each other, and there's only one of each sock... Shudder.

Folding clothes and putting them away
Cleaning mould
Making beds

notso · 03/12/2013 23:01

Oh so many to choose from.
I definitely agree with helzapoppin I hate thinking about what to cook. Especially when I ask for suggestions and recieve either "Dominos" from DC or " whatever you fancy" from DH as the reply!
I hate cleaning the oven, even with oven pride, I always burn myself or make myself dizzy from the fumes and I still have loads of built up carbon on the roof of the cooker.
I also hate the kind of jobs that are time consuming, need doing but no- one really notices you do. Like out the bins after they've been emptied, hoovering the mattresses, tidying he kitchen cupboards.

ThePearShapedToad · 03/12/2013 23:03

Urgh, putting away the dry washing.

< whispers > I have even been known once or twice many times to take the folded dry clean laundry and put it back on for a wash in the machine just to save me having to actually put it away

Oh gracious I'm a dreadful person Xmas Sad

cerealqueen · 03/12/2013 23:30

Ha. Pearshapedtoad, I have put clothes back in the wash after they were left at the bottom of the laundry hamper and got crumpled, instead of being left on a hanger. I then HAVE to make sure I whip them out of the wash immediately, so I don't have to iron them!

NoBusinessLikeSnowBusiness · 04/12/2013 00:05

I like hanging out washing on the line.

That's it. The rest is all shit.

fortifiedwithtea · 04/12/2013 01:39

Cleaning out the fluff filter on tumble dryer
Worse cleaning out the stale water and filters in washing machine
cleaning the oven
cleaning the wheelie bin and kitchen swing bin, the bathroom bin not so bad.
cleaning the outside drain cover

I get a lot crap jobs. DH does the ironing

ChubbyKitty · 04/12/2013 02:14

Notso that is the worst! What would you like for dinner? "Food"

Excuse me while I punt you into the Pacific Ocean.

My least favourite job is washing the pots. Such a stupid job. Stupid pots, stupid bowl, stupid washing up liquid. Ugh.

IsSpringSprangedYet · 04/12/2013 06:28

Cleaning the loos - DC always seem to miss Sad

Cleaning the fridge - I always put my finger in some sort of grim goo

I like taking all the stuff out of the food cupboards and wiping the shelves down, but putting everything back? Not so much.

Putting fitted sheets on beds, the rest of the bed making I'm happy with.

Anything clothes related, I love doing. All therapeutic and what not.

dexter73 · 04/12/2013 07:18

Gardening is my most hated chore. I hate all the mowing and chopping.
Ironing is ok because I do it in front of the tv.
I would quite happily concrete over my garden!!

Peetle · 04/12/2013 09:39

Agreed about gardening. I just hack everything back, cut the grass and generally tidy up a bit. It would be alright at this point if everything didn't keeps bloody growing, especially the brambles. You could film "Day of the Triffids" in our back garden at the moment.

I make my lunchtime sandwich in the evening before going to bed. It takes about 5 minutes, tops, but for some reason the whole "Oh God, I've got to make my lunch" thing looms over the entire evening and it feels like I've got to go and paint the Forth Bridge before I can go to bed. But it saves a fortune and doesn't mean wasting half a lunch hour in a queue outside a sandwich shop.

Ragwort · 04/12/2013 09:46

cleaning the wheelie bin - errrrrrrrrrr never even occurred to me to clean a wheelie bin Shock.

I'd forgotton about gardening, that is a horrible thing to do; I wish I was one those people who love gardening, but I hate it. When house-hunting the estate agents kept pointing us towards houses with large gardens, no thanks.

principalitygirl · 04/12/2013 12:07

vacuuming the stairs

emptying the food waste bin in the kitchen and moving contents to the outside one that the council collect from. the liners always leak even though I double them up.

principalitygirl · 04/12/2013 12:08

ragwort - I never clean the wheelie bin either!

principalitygirl · 04/12/2013 12:12

oh and mowing the lawn. back garden isn't huge thankfully but has lawn mainly. we also have a lawned front garden too.

ragwort - couldn't agree more. we were living in a flat with no garden before this and naively craved a large garden. luckily we didn't buy a house with one in the end. we'd even considered ones 100ft + long and about 30ft wide. some were also sloping and /or tiered. can you imagine....??!! with kids, gardening time is zero so we had a lucky escape it seems.

RightsaidFreud · 04/12/2013 12:14

cleaning the cat litter tray and changing the bed sheets.

petteacher · 04/12/2013 12:26

Wiping my bum after having the runs

SparklyNewNameChange · 04/12/2013 13:02

All of it I'm afraid. I hate looking after a house. I hate tidying things up most particularly.

isitnormal · 04/12/2013 13:06

Dusting, every bloody day...where the hell does all the dust come from? Cleaning the floor - why is there also so much of my hair on the floor??!
Washing up and ironing don't bother me - I usually catch up on programmes on iplayer while I'm doing it.
ALL household tasks would be much easier if DP cleaned up after himself and actually helped out without being asked.Angry

Ilovexmastime · 04/12/2013 13:19

Cleaning the sofa, as well as fluffing up the cushions every 5 mins as the DC keep sitting on them. I am never buying a sofa with cushions as a back again.

CremeEggThief · 04/12/2013 13:34

Dusting every day? Shock I aim for weekly, but it sometimes slips to monthly.

However, I did clean the wheelie bin in the summer! Wink

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 04/12/2013 13:52

Yes, how much dust DO you have? Confused My house is lucky if it gets dusted once a year...

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 04/12/2013 13:53

We don't have ornaments, though. Or any surfaces which are not being used to store something or other. So that helps.

QuintessentialShadows · 04/12/2013 13:54

Digging poo out of the shower drain. (that was a disgusting one off)

Weelady77 · 04/12/2013 13:58

Ilovexmastime me either everyone thinks I'm obssessed with fixing my sofa but it bugs me when cushions sag!!!

isitnormal · 04/12/2013 14:02

I would love to know how I end up with so much dust, believe me! The bathroom and my office are worst. Maybe it's because most of my surfaces are pale colours, so I just notice it more?
