Don't say everything. It doesn't have to be particularly gruelling, or time consuming, or disgusting, but I bet you have one household task that you hate out of all proportion.

For me, it's putting away washing. I don't much like hanging it out to dry, but putting it away in drawers and wardrobes, when the coat hangers are tangling with each other, and there's only one of each sock... Shudder.

Cleaning the bathroom.

I HATE IT.

JewelFairies · 03/12/2013 13:54

Cleaning windows. Thankfully windows in the UK are so badly designed that you need a ladder to clean the outside of upstairs windows, so I don't. And I only clean the kitchen windows when I can't see out of them any more (so about once a year).

HEC What does 'doing the skirting boards' mean? I don't do anything to mine but they have been painted twice in 12 years... Do I need to do anything else with them?? Confused

Blueuggboots · 03/12/2013 14:07

Hair in the bathroom.....in the bath, on the floor, in the plug holes....makes me want to vomit.

MrsMarigold · 03/12/2013 14:20

My house is chaos today and the floor hasn't been mopped for two weeks - I just hate it. The house is too big and I'm in constant referee mode to prevent DC killing and torturing each other.

CremeEggThief · 03/12/2013 15:02

Cleaning and changing the cat litter tray.

Followed by mopping the floor. Mopped it today for the first time in about two months! To be fair, it's wood effect vinyl and hides the dirt well. I also dislike wiping skirting boards and doors down and cleaning windows.

Weegiemum · 03/12/2013 15:04

Cleaning out the guinea pigs.

Any point at which I have to enter dd1s room (she's 13).

Most endless job is laundry but I don't actually mind it that much.

magichamster · 03/12/2013 16:37

I quite enjoy ironing, although putting it away is a pain.

I cannot see the point in dusting. A day later and you'd never know it had been done.

Jdub · 03/12/2013 16:40

sodding hoovering with sodding arse of a hoover - Henry! Bugger off with your chirpy face and fall over somewhere else - you give me RAGE

ThereIsNoEleventeen · 03/12/2013 17:30

Washing out lunch boxes, I hate opening them up and finding bits of yogurt covered scraps. Yuk. I especially hate those cool bag lunch boxes, bits of yogurty crisp and cake crumbs get into the creases...

after that its cleaning the bathroom.

Sado that I am I quite like ironing, I just don't get time to do it.

ThereIsNoEleventeen · 03/12/2013 17:32

How can you speak ill of the henry Jdub???

BrownSauceSandwich · 03/12/2013 17:40

Cripes. That got a reaction!

Looks like I have a couple of housework twins: yy pacificdogwood... Ironing, just no. And dusting, wtf? Inthered... Oh dog poo. Particularly awful at this time of year, it's dark out all the time I'm home, so all the likelier ill stand in it while trying to pick it up. But if you leave it to the weekend, it all goes mushy.

Emptying the bin, just the thought of doing makes me shudder.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 03/12/2013 18:33

Cat litter trays.

Anything floor level as I'm 33 weeks pregnant and can't get down that low. Not ideal with a 3 year old dropping toys etc everywhere Grin

Ragwort · 03/12/2013 18:33

Hoovering ........... just hate it, in fact I rarely do (despite having three different vacuum cleaners - none seem to work properly).

Main reason we bought our current house is because it had wooden floors downstairs and I can get away with hoovering the rest of the house about once a month fortnight. Grin.

perplexedpirate · 03/12/2013 18:35

Cooking. I will swap ALL your dusting, hoovering and ironing if you do my cooking, and I'll consider it a good deal.

Mintyy · 03/12/2013 18:40

Thereisnoeleventeen the way to deal with 'orrible lunch boxes is to line them every day with a single sheet of kitchen towel.

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 03/12/2013 18:44

Washing up. I HATE it! Hate getting wet all up my sleeves/arms and in my watch and rings. Get the irrational rage that my arms are too skinny so rolled up sleeves fall down unless I fold them over about 3 or 4 times. And the middle part of your arms that isn't in a sleeve or a tub of water get cold. If you wear gloves you can't feel what you're doing and if you have bare hands you can feel little nuggets of food floating around. Especially bad if you have cats with the little chunks of cat food BLEURGH.

If you wash up anything vaguely greasy it dissolves all the bubbles and makes the water disgusting and you have to pour it out and start again. The bowl also gets all slimy and you end up having to clean that before you can even start. And this doesn't even cover trying to balance everything on a tiny flimsy horrible draining contraption thing.

And you have to do this EVERY DAY if not MORE than once a day because you generate so much of the sodding stuff.

I really really miss having a dishwasher :(

On the plus side, we just bought one of those robot hoovers and it's FANTASTIC. Yes, it might need emptying after doing half a room and it might get stuck in odd corners but you can switch it on and leave it to it - fabulous. And DS thinks it's endlessly amusing. DP and I did watch it for about an hour the other night.

I don't mind hoovering TBF, but most hoovers are so annoyingly heavy and cumbersome. Quite like ironing also, in fact most parts of laundry, hanging up, putting away, sorting out, except for extracting DP's pants from his trousers which he always manages to leave with one leg inside out. Confused

chickydoo · 03/12/2013 18:49

I hate the dullness of everyday cooking
Hate the fact that housework is considered my Job even though we both work full time.
Hate clearing up after lazy teenagers who should be able to help, but of course don't.

RedundantExpat · 03/12/2013 18:58

Tidying up the kitchen after dinner. Since I like cooking it is kind of a big job every night. It makes me feel totally unloved and resentful.

The DCs are yet too small to help at that hour but I am training them to put their plates in the dishwasher at least.

weebleknievel · 03/12/2013 19:05

Hanging the washing out (or putting it on the airer)
Dusting (black gloss furniture + 1DH +1DS +1DCat = waste of time)
Vaccuuming the bastard stairs
Drying the dishes

PiratePanda · 03/12/2013 19:09

You lot aren't very adventurous. Mine's cleaning hair out of the drain

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 03/12/2013 19:10

See, I hate that too, but I think it's pretty justified because it is disgusting. But the OP asked for stuff that you hate out of all proportion.

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 03/12/2013 19:11

BTW, immac will solve that one for you. Squirt, leave for 5-10 minutes, rinse - all hair should be dissolved, leaving your bathroom smelling wonderfully of burnt hair (but at least it doesn't involve pulling slimy matted clumps out with your bare hands!)

MacaYoniandCheese · 03/12/2013 19:13

Mine is also putting away laundry Sad. I have been known to empty baskets of clean, folded laundry before any of the clothes ever get put away.

Picking up dog poo? Oh hell to the No. That is DH's job. I am bossy Managing Director of all household operations and he is VP of Canine Excreta. It's a job that has a lot of responsibility, given that we have two dogs, and covers the key areas of poo, urine, barf and unidentified substances.

JadziaSnax · 03/12/2013 19:15

Putting away clean washing up and changing quilt covers. I quite enjoy washing up but really loathe putting it away afterwards.
