Shock Carrots! I hope they are all friendly!

Sorry you are having such a nightmare with your parents.

bessie26 · 03/07/2012 14:15

Oh carrots, so early into the holiday?!! Can you, DH, DD & DS all roll your eyes at them & have a giggle when they start "playing up" or will that just make matters worse?

DD1 came down with the D&V thing in the early hours so I am at home with her today, she seems fine now, but won't be able to go to pre-school tomorrow, so DH is going to take the day off to look after her.

I have purposefully taken the bed sheets off my bed so I can't nap & am off to catch up on some chores now

I got this email this morning & wondered if anyone was interested? It's about eco ways of drying your laundry when it's wet outside

AdoraBell · 03/07/2012 15:17

Carrots Shock oh no, I hate to say it, but do you have transport? I'd be cutting the holiday short, although it does sound like DCs at least are having a good time. Good luck with the ponies and I hope DD enjoys here ride.

Bessie how dare you remove the sheets to prevent yourself napping, outrageous behaviour Wink you need the odd few mins if you've been up since the early hours. Hope DD feels better soon.

We have a bright and sunny day here, but I'm not taking the washing outside yet, it's only 1 degree! DDs break up this Friday for winter hols, only two weeks, they've already planned how to spend more money than we currently have. Oh well, they'll earn a healthy life skill- how to deal with disappointmentSmile

educatingarti · 03/07/2012 17:06

"We have a bright and sunny day here" Oh Adora, I only wish we had. It is being the most miserable summer here so far. ( We could do without the 1degree though.) Apparently according to the TV last night, we need the jet stream to go much further north round the top of the British Isles in order to get some sunny summery weather. Can you send us some sunshiney thoughts?

AdoraBell · 03/07/2012 17:15

Of course Arti sunny thoughts en route. We are due more rain tomorrow, if that helpsSmile

carrotsandcelery · 03/07/2012 17:45

Bessie, dh isnt here and they would go bananas if i did that. Completely mental. I generally just let it all wash over me but the kids are not adept at dealing with it. Dd had a great ride. She was considered good enough to go belting up hills and jump over logs etc and came back grinning ear to ear.
One of the horses escaped while i was abandoned in the yard. Luckily a wee old man had appeared and he dealt with it.
He also serenaded me with a song about my dds name. The horse she was riding had the same name as her too. It is not a common name so we were Shock

I fell asleep on the beach this afternoon at loch morlich. I woke myself up snoring Blush

We are just off for a swim just as soon as i can summon the motivation.
Bessie i hope dd has recovered and no one else gets it.

bessie26 · 03/07/2012 21:06

oh dear carrots - hope the kids cope with it all week! Welld one to DD on her ride! - are you getting that horse for her? I think I must have missed your decision on it Blush My parents live next to some stables, and one of the horses there had the same (unusual) nickname as me - weird huh? One of the (potential?) GB atheletes has my nickname as their surname & people at work keep telling me about it repeatedly. Glad you had time for a snore snooze though.

adora I was afraid that if I had napped this arvo I wouldn't have woken had DD1 called me, and the hall was knee deep in cat fluff. Blush

Scout19075 · 03/07/2012 21:44

Busy day, mostly out, here at ScoutCamp. I took Toddler to a Toddler Skate session and then stayed to use the play frame/soft play. Toddler LOVED the skating so I think we'll go back next week (it's only during term time so just a couple of weeks left to go until September).

Tomorrow's the Fourth. Fingers crossed for no rain so we can enjoy the festivities.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 03/07/2012 23:55

I am intrigued by this nickname bessie.
Scout, wot sort of skating?

AdoraBell · 04/07/2012 00:01

Bessie you're excused, this timeSmile Hope DD is feeling better.

Carrots glad you enjoyed your snoozWink and really glad DD enjoyed her ride and did so well.

My DDs have spent 90 minutes draining the pupppies of their, considerable, energy reserves. They are learning not to get right up in the big dogs faces(puppies, not DDs) I'm having a cup of tea before starting dinner, beef stir fry tonight

Scout

Happy July Fourth in case I don't see you tomorrow

carrotsandcelery · 04/07/2012 08:04

Scout! Happy fourth of july. I hope you have a fab day with ts. I will be thinking of you.

Tmi but dd was conceived on the fourth of july in the year 2000!

Shock Blush Grin

Scout19075 · 04/07/2012 08:25

Morning! Happy 4th of July. Shame the weather isn't cooperating. Sad Toddler & I are still going to go to the base for the festivities, though. We'll head up after his haircut this morning. TS has been waving his flags around and as soon as we shower I'll put him in his 4th of July tee-shirt and take some pictures for folks back home.

carrots, it was Toddler Roller Skating. GREAT fun and TS loved it. He's been talking about it and wants to go again so I think we're off to it next week (it's about 20-25 minutes away which, honestly, I don't mind because it's a straight shot from here to there).

OP posts:
educatingarti · 04/07/2012 13:56

Happy 4th July y'all!

Just checking in briefly before beavering away at more work. Not doing too badly today ( for once) so don't want to break the momentum!

Scout - Toddler roller skating sounds fab - there's not many things that would get me wishing I was a toddler again but...
Can you post some pictures of his 4th July art-work? I would love to see it!

Carrots. How about this as a strategy for dealing with the dparents. When they "start", imaqine yourself sticking you fingers in your ears and singing "la la la I can't hear you!" If you think the Dc wouldn't let on about it you could even get them to do the same! The Dparents may wonder why you've all suddenly started to grin every time they start arguing but on the other hand it might brighten up the week!!

Well Adora- I don't know how you were sending your sunny thought but I'm beginning to suspect it might have been overland, by camel. The sunshine hasn't arrived here yet anyhow!!

DontSweatTheSmallStuff · 04/07/2012 17:57

Hello. Can I join? Are you working through the babysteps each day?

I tried babystepping a few years ago and really need to try again. My house is a tip, i have too much 'stuff' and it's making my head want to explode.

AdoraBell · 04/07/2012 21:06

Arti

I think it got lost, it's not still hereSad rain is threatening and I'm freezing.
All the dogs are outside now, I couldn't stand the smell anymore and the garage is large and insulated, so I don't feel guilty.

Hello Don'tsweat and welcome. The general idea is that we do the baby steps, but this is where we have a chinwag between steps.

educatingarti · 04/07/2012 22:46

Hi Don'tsweat

I guess we loosely follow the baby steps as much or as little as we feel we can or just adopt some of flylady's ideas that suit.

You are welcome anyway! If you have too much "stuff", have you tried some of flylady's decluttering techniques. I find doing a 10 min blitz on an area or deciding that I'm going to find a certain number of things to give/throw or put away really help!

carrotsandcelery · 05/07/2012 08:02

Hi dont sweat, welcome to the thread. I am on holiday until safurday but then i will be back and setting up a school holiday flying routine?
Do you have children? If so what ages etc?

carrotsandcelery · 05/07/2012 08:06

We had a very exciting day yesterday, the highlight being the dcs doing a very challenging aerial obstacle course at a place called treezone. It is the same idea as a go ape if you have one near you. Ds was only just big enough and old enough but buzzed round his level no problem. Dd did the hardest level and the instructor commented that she is small but incredibly strong and determined [proud]

carrotsandcelery · 05/07/2012 08:10

We also had a big trauma saving a dog from being put to sleep. Its owner died and the people dealing with everything were so upset they had given up hope and couldnt see straight. The vet was in the house about to do it when we managed to stop him. The dog now has a brilliant new home she will go to today. I love a happy ending Grin

AdoraBell · 05/07/2012 13:28

The great about the dog Carrots, sorry that the owner has died though.

Sounds like your DCs are having a fab time. Winter has really set in now, heavy frost the last few days and the river that runs through the capital is beginning to flow. It's fed by the surrounding mountains and it dries up in summer.

DontSweatTheSmallStuff · 05/07/2012 16:47

Hello. I didn't get off to a very good start today! I made the most of a child-free day to go shopping instead and got a lovely new top in Fat Face reduced from £55 to £20.

A school holiday routine sounds good. I have 2 ds's, (6 and 4), the youngest starts school in September and I childmind part time so at the moment a completely child free day is a luxury.

Winter? Adorabell. Where are you!

carrotsandcelery · 05/07/2012 18:31

We are having a great time adora.
Ds and i are back at the lodge. We went to go to the cinema but the showing is 3d and ds is terrified of them and chose not to go. My dparents have taken dd and ds and i are watching a muppet dvd Grin

carrotsandcelery · 05/07/2012 19:24

Dont sweat, i think we would all agree that child free time must be savoured.

AdoraBell · 06/07/2012 03:19

I'm in Chile, and boy am I making the most of these couple of days before the winter hols, they break up tomorrow - help!

I'm operating in slow motion and on auto pilot today (came on yesterday, and the best word to describe my cycle is "erratic"), so I had a TV day and I can't even remember what I watched. I did have breakfast and dinner, DDs took a lunch and OH was out all day. Dogs have eaten too. I'm trying to muster the energy to chop a bit of cooked chicken to mix with the pasta for tomorrow's packed lunch. They may have deal with it themselves. I hear the wine kettle calling me.

Carrots shame about the cinema, hope you enjoy the Muppets, an old favourite of mineGrin

Tomorrow I must go out, I need to have a least an hour for myself away from the house before the DDs break up, my sanity depends on there are lots of lovely places to go and just chill with a coffee so that's what I do before each holiday. I'm hoping to be up to driving into the capital because I find the Andes with snow particularly restorative. I get a spectacular view en route and some parking areas give a clear line of sight to the snow capped peaks.

carrotsandcelery · 06/07/2012 07:53

Adora, i hope you feel better quickly. Coffee whilst gazing at snow capped andes ssounds amazing!
