Carrots I like the way you think Grin!

Scout can I play in the paddling pool?

Today was not a good one, been like a bear wth a sore head and that just ain't meConfused. Estate agent is coming back to up date photos with our nice new carpet. Carpet company are coming back because the fitters have damaged said carpet. OH is mega stressed over money, DD are not inclined to tidy up their toot most prized toys, and the dogs are confused about being banished from the house.

DDs will be in school tomorrow so I'll be able to really get the grips with the cleaning. I've been weeding out things I don't need to keep, like my late father's copies of Nat Geo magazine. Pulled them out, told OH that's a pile of recycling etc. today he boxed up excess books and put the old mags, plus a newspaper, in the box. I'm afraid I flipped ladies. When challenged on what reason he has to keep my late fathers very out of date magazines he said "I'm keeping them for you" to be fair I haven't told him that I currently want to throw out everything, but that didn't stop me having a short sharp rant in his direction.

Oh well, tomorrow is a new dayGrin

Morning all, feeling a bit better today after a good nights sleep. Smile

Carrots Are your DC back to school today?
We still have around 2 weeks off here. I like having them around --when they behave-- The sibling rivalry is quite hard to deal with though!
DS doesn't realize that DD needs more supervising etc and gets jealous.

CatsInChaos · 20/08/2012 09:00

Don't know if any of you have seen This thread

It looks great!!!!

I defo need some help to get ready as my brain feels like a jumbled mess of "things to do" I sooo need some organising!!

Scout19075 · 20/08/2012 09:58

MrScout can't decide if we're leaving for holiday Tuesday night after work, Wednesday sometime or Thursday. So far only a room is booked for Thursday night (we don't have to be to the family holiday destination until Friday but since Toddler's been with us we leave Thursday and have an overnight stop just the three of us and do family things Thursday & Friday before the chaos ensues). I'm planning and packing as if we're leaving first thing Wednesday since he seems to be leaning towards Wednesday which means I'm hoping to get all the clothes washed & packed tonight and make sure all of my "projects" are ready to go. I always seem to get a lot done on holiday without the distractions of the house to side-track me. The only thing I can't pack until definitely the night before we go are Toddler's trains and his books since he uses both up to and including bedtime. My projects are mostly packed & ready my wishes for projects is scary long looking to the casual observer but to me is very doable sitting in front of the television in the evening with my SiL (the one without the children) or sitting in the lounge after breakfast or lunch while everyone else reads the papers or goes off into town. Don't get me wrong, I love wandering around town, too, but with Toddler it's not as easy so am happy letting him play in the communal lobby and get patted by the old dears-- while I cut things out.

I also have my To Do Before Vacation list which includes things like clear out fridge (almost empty but want to make sure anything that could smell goes), take out trash, empty diaper pail (wait until just before we go as we'll do a last nappy change before loading Toddler), pack clothes (broken down by person as it's easier), etc.

I am hoping today is a bit cooler. I don't mind the weather of late but Toddler and MrScout struggle and I'm not sure I'm up for a whining Tot
while trying to do everything else.

Afternoon all!

I spent the weekend visiting my parents so I'm spending today slowly trying to get into gear!! I find the driving quite tiring (280ish miles round trip) and I also find it quite emotionally draining. It is hard to see my Dad so disabled both mentally and physically, though he has improved a little since he had his shunt surgery.

I need to catch up on household jobs and food shopping as well as do some work and lesson prep. Just one student tonight so not too bad!

carrotsandcelery · 20/08/2012 19:28

Hello everyone!

We have had a very busy weekend and I have been struggling to keep up with everything lately.

I went away for the day by myself yesterday and have been exhausted today.

I had a great day yesterday though so it is a happy tired iykwim.

Our school goes back tomorrow so I tried to make today a family only day. We did have some visitors but I said the children could play with friends outside but not in our house or their house.

Scout19075 · 21/08/2012 10:51

Toddler had me up about 3-4 hours over night. After a day of no nap yesterday. And no proper lie-in today (was up around 7:30-ish). MrScout is working late tonight (client dinner or something -- very last minute) and I think (though still don't know for sure) that we're going on holiday tomorrow. Ack! It's going to be a long day.

Hows it going today carrots?
Must be very quiet there today!

I will try to get on here now and again but I do have a lot to do and also the DC tend to take over the computer when they are home.

Just having a coffee Brew break before I crack on with something else.

Scout19075 · 21/08/2012 13:51

Will someone please tell Toddler to stop fighting the nap and just close his eyes?! If he waits too much longer I'll be forced to keep him awake or he won't sleep at bedtime.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 21/08/2012 15:10

I'm now on "Operation Keep Toddler Awake." Just three hours -- I need him to keep going now for three more hours.

CatsInChaos · 21/08/2012 15:16

Scout has Toddler had a nap yet?

I have hoovered and done some dusting Shock. Having a bit of a rest now before I start in the kitchen.

It's all quiet here, DS is at a friends house playing and DD is just quite happy playing.

Wonders where zoo is lately!

What you all up to?

CatsInChaos · 21/08/2012 15:17

X Posts Scout! Smile

Glad he got a nap.

Scout19075 · 21/08/2012 15:18

I have been in "prepare for holiday" mode -- clearing out the 'fridge, making lists of what needs to be packed, packing, etc.

Now I'm also trying to keep Toddler going. So far so good but if yesterday was anything to go by we're going to have a rough time between 4 & 5 p.m.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 21/08/2012 15:19

No nap, Cats. Sad Which is why I now need to push to keep him going and put him to bed early (6-6:30 instead of 7-7:30).

CatsInChaos · 21/08/2012 15:32

Good luck!!

I'm procrastinating about washing up but I know I must do it. Hmm

Think I'll have some cake first!! Grin

Scout19075 · 21/08/2012 15:56

So far he's happy playing with his trains and there is minimal frustration when tracks aren't doing what he wants them to. He's good at making some complicated track patterns and seems to be getting better though still needs a bit of help sometimes.

i have spent the past 3 days doing battle with an exploded piddling cheap cushion that has seen a drift of miniscule white polystrene balls wafting through the house aaaaaaaaargh

every time i think i have them all i turn and find another few swirling....

wet cloths seem to be the best catchers iyswim but they have taken me to the edge and back, especially after i swept damn stairs while dcs were playing on the trampoline.they came in for snack, went upstairs to wash hands and i had another 50 or so on the stair carpet.where?how?[hmm]

in other news ds tooth that has been wobbling precariously for around 2 months has finally dropped out...he sneezed and it shot out!ha ha!

Scout19075 · 21/08/2012 16:29

Goodness knows what my lovely but childless neighbor thinks of us right now. Two days running, about this time, the sobbing, the wailing, the gnashing of teeth, the protests of "No upstairs! No new nappy! No Mommy!" Lovely neighbor works shifts (she's ward sister at one of the local hospitals) and is home during the week this week (I've seen her outside and the windows are open).

NOTE TO HUSBANDS:

Please assess the mood and health of the family before coming in and bossing people around.

Both kids had a great first day back at school and had done really well after school too. The happy atmosphere has now been ruined by dh coming in and demanding ds tidy his bedroom when he is clearly far too tired.

carrotsandcelery · 21/08/2012 20:11

[sobs]

Scout19075 · 21/08/2012 20:16

Grrr at MrCarrots. My dad used to do this, especially when he had a short commute -- he needed a longer commute to "decompress" from work before coming home and dealing with the house (meaning Mom, me and my siblings).

CatsInChaos · 21/08/2012 21:50

Thanks zoo Grin I know what u mean about tiny balls! We had cavity wall insulation this year and I was sweeping up tiny foam balls for days. --they must have escaped from the wall-- Hmm

Are you packing?

carrotsandcelery · 21/08/2012 21:51

Pokey, poke, poke Scout.

I gently mentioned the error to dh and he went to ease the unhappiness. Smile

Then Twilight looked outside, saw the rain and went and did a poo in the hallway Shock

Why is it always when you are tired and headachey that it all happens?
