Come inside for a Brew and a Biscuit and maybe even a Wine if the mood takes you.

A thread for chatter and nonsense Grin

it's all right zoo. We all moan now and again. You have good reason!

I am here now lurking and wandering the boards for a while.

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 18:18

Oh zoo Sad I am sorry you are having such a rotten time

What do you think has got into dd? Can you send her somewhere on her own? If she doesn't have an audience or an army to lead then she will find it much less fun. Can you stick her in the bath on her own? (works with ds I have discovered after bitter experience) Can you introduce calm but horrid consequences for being this rotten and lovely rewards for not?

((((hugs))))

I am around for a Saturday night blether apart from watching Iron Clad with dh (apparently it is about the Crusades so sounds fairly blood thirsty so I may need support to get through it).

Hi carrots, I am on high alert this evening. I can't settle. DS has just come in and said he banged his head on the pavement. He is o.k. and gone back out again but I can't help worrying.

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 18:48

I hate it when stuff like that happens Cats. Did he let you feel his head? Someone on this thread told me that if there is an egg/bump out the way it is good because that means the swelling is going out the way not in the way.

I assume you know about watching for them being unusually sleepy, groggy, slurring their words etc.

OP posts:
CatsSleepAnywhere · 05/05/2012 19:10

He is upstairs now getting showered with DH helping/supervising. He seems o.k. so far.

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 19:20

They are remarkably resiliant (sp?) I hope he is ok.

Dh has been mostly doing the flying today. I thought he was being really helpful and have just discovered that he has eaten all (ALL!) of the rhubarb cake. ALL of it! Shock

OP posts:
CatsSleepAnywhere · 05/05/2012 19:53

Is there none left? Shock Did you get any carrots?

I have just put DD up to bed but I can here her chatting away in her room to her teddies.

DS will be off to bed soon.

liveinazoo · 05/05/2012 20:02

ive just tucked mine in after a dreadful day
ds held me close adn said i love you mummy
i burst into uncontrollableflood of tears and clung to him like a lifeboat in stormy waterSad
dd2 sometimeskicks of carrots after one others has been ill as way regaining "control".bitter experience tells me NOTHING will make life any easier til shes ready ro pull her horns in as she seems to lack the concept a parent has feelings

changing the subject i saw a recipe for apple and rhubarb muffins on my travels today.if i try it will post

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 20:22

We have all been there zoo. I visit regularly! I don't like it but sometimes that is where the bus stops and I have to stay a while.

Tomorrow is another day.

Cats there is not a crumb (because he had the decency to clean the worktops afterwards at least). He is now claiming it was his cake and that I made it for him.

Apple and rhubarb sounds yum too zoo. I still have 3 huge stalks. I might make them into something healthier than cake though! I did manage not to eat a bit of baking at the sale today and not to bring home any either.

OP posts:
liveinazoo · 05/05/2012 20:25

i propose a nice rhubarb crumble with lashings of custard

i also suggest we locate driver of that bus and ban him from bringing it to our homes!!!!Grin

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 20:27

I am just travelling by limo from now on... or maybe calm horse!

Evening all!

Sorry about your crap day zoo. I hope tomorrow is better. Cats. I love the Robin pic. It reminds me of a winter weekend I spent once at Keswick. The Robins were incredibly tame and scrounging off all the visitors but as it was snowy and icy I could hardly blame them!

I agree the scenery near Carrots is very beautiful- I was on holiday there for a week once! We did a great bike ride along the old disused railway line. My friend's son who was 10 at the time had only just learned to ride a bike that year and kept veering off into the nettles. He was remarkably cool about it all though and we had a good joke about how come he had the bike with the nettle magnets in it! We also nearly ran over saw an adder and watched people jumping off a very high bridge into the river.

Carrots - yay for your DS staying over fine. It obviously made him hungry for rhubarb cake though! Can you teach him any other kind of hoovering?

liveinazoo · 05/05/2012 20:32

yes pleaseSmile

id even be accepting just shlopping along in the rain and snow rather than get back on that bus!

least they went down ok

i need a plan for tomorrow.suggestions anyone?

Scout19075 · 05/05/2012 20:33

We are late home tonight. I so want to rant but am trying not to. MrScout is putting Toddler up for a very late night. From what I hear so far he seems to be sticking to what I've said I've been doing (but I didn't tell him what to do because that would get his back up).

liveinazoo · 05/05/2012 20:34

how was ds sleepover carrots?
is he keen to do another or pleased to be home?

liveinazoo · 05/05/2012 20:35
carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 20:39

Arti is it the bridge I just put on my profile? (you can just see ds on it)

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 20:41

Sleepover seems to have gone well. Ds was up early but my friend gets up very early so she gave him a ds to play on silent and some paper to draw on. He cried earlier because he was missing his friend (exhausted).

He wants to have his friend here next. Hopefully we can sort something along those lines out soon.
