I know Scout. She looked so unwell. I am so Sad for her and for him.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 14/04/2012 22:13

Oh dear, sounds like you all not having a great time.

Has DS settled now carrots?

bessie and scout hope your DC feel better soon.

Scout19075 · 14/04/2012 22:14

Is there any way you can reschedule when she's better?

carrotsandcelery · 14/04/2012 22:25

Hi Cats. Ds has cried himself to sleep Sad but one of us will sleep up there in the extra bed tonight so there is still some novelty for him.

I am sure it can be rescheduled once dn is better. She tends to be away during the summer though as her dmum goes back to the country she grew up in and my dn's go with her.

They both have busy weekends during term time but we will see what we can do.

Where has everyone's snot come from all of a sudden?

I hope all are better soon. Is everyone's house stinking of Karvol?

Scout19075 · 14/04/2012 22:46

Unfortunately yesterday I had a feeling Toddler's was coming on. He looked so sad and sorry earlier. Also unfortunately I've googled the symptoms of measles (the ones that come before the rash).... ARGH! Please, someone, slap me and tell me he just has an ordinary cold.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 14/04/2012 22:46

Hope he sleeps o.k. carrots

I am in two minds about going to bed. I don't feel very tired and I know tomorrow I will have to go to bed at a sensible time so with it being Saturday night I am staying up late Hmm Confused

zoo I am excited about your kittens!!! Grin I bet you are too!!

carrotsandcelery · 14/04/2012 23:13

I am still up Cats are you?

I am excited about the kittens too.

I have resisted the chocolates tonight but now I have a MASSIVE craving for salt and vinegar crisps. Hmm

carrotsandcelery · 14/04/2012 23:13

Poor TS Sad It is worst when it is the little ones.

bessie26 · 14/04/2012 23:22

I'm off to bed now.

DD2 seemed much happier when I put her to bed, so fx she will be a happy bunny in the morning. Hope all the other snotty kiddies are feeling better tomorrow, and poor littlecarrots, all that build up, ending in such disappointment Sad Are you sure it's a good idea you sleep in there with him though? (what would you psychologist lady say?)

carrotsandcelery · 14/04/2012 23:32

bessie I know exactly what you mean. It is a risk but we thought that if we went up there, rather than him coming down to us, (which would be much comfier) then we might get away with it. We might not of course.

I am weighing it up with the loss of confidence this could have brought about for him. It doesn't take a lot to throw him. I would rather lose a few nights sleep sorting out his routine than him feel so awful. He already thinks that no one will ever want to sleep over with him etc. I feel so, so bad for him.

He also said something about a Midnight feast and had a bucket with Hula Hoops in it Grin

bessie26 · 14/04/2012 23:47

Haha! I can see you're just doing it for the hula hoops! Grin

DD2 woke up crying just as I sent that last post! She's ok though, have given calpol & cuddles, and she's just dropped off in my arms. She feels SO much cooler than before Grin

Scout19075 · 15/04/2012 08:03

Got MrScout to sort the printer/copier last night. Just did my second copy (was going to do several different pictures to choose from/do over the next two weeks) and the printer has run out of ink. ARGH!

liveinazoo · 15/04/2012 08:22

morning all!
snot ridden ds here too

carrotsandcelery · 15/04/2012 09:23

Oh dear zoo. Are you able to tell the parents of the child that you have the phobia? It is no uncommon. If they knew about it they would surely understand the horror that it instills in you.

I would understand just on the basis that you have 3 young children in the house and a bug like that would be a nighmare, and that is without a phobia.

I am not happy about visitors with snot or visiting people with snot. I do my best to keep our snot to ourselves and wish others would do the same. If a worse bug was involved I wouldn't be too keen either.

I think my fears come from ds's awful sleep pattern. A few nights misery for others can be months of disruption and lack of sleep for us.

Anyway, I am rambling. I think honesty is the best course of action. Just tell her about your problem, that you are getting treatment, and that you don't want to appear repulsed or scared of their dd and that maybe she should come to play in a few days time once everyone is sure she isn't carrying a bug. You could offer to bake another cake then and play a few party games then etc.

It is certainly not worth making yourself so unhappy about zoo. Take action.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 15/04/2012 10:27

Morning all,

Thinking of you zoo, You have a number of choices:

  1. let all come to the party who are not ill as planned but maybe get them to wash hands before they touch food.
  1. Face your fears, let the party go ahead as if you weren't worried, everything may well turn out o.k. Smile Your counsellor would probably say this .
  1. do as carrots says and talk to the child's parents about your phobia and maybe rearrange another playdate with cake and party games.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope it all turns out well.
We are here if you need someone to talk to. I know how rotten it can make you feel if you don't sleep well.

Let us know how it goes. {{hugs}}

carrotsandcelery · 15/04/2012 10:33

zoo I think cats is right about what your counsellor would say. Ds's would definitely say face your fears. She explained fear as like a mountain or staircase. It can only go up so far. Once he has got to the top the only next step is for it to ease off (ie come down the mountain or staircase on the other side). In other words, you can only get so scared and then it eases off. She also said the more times you face the fear the less distance up the staircase or mountain you get. ie, the more you face it, the less scary it gets.

carrotsandcelery · 15/04/2012 10:34

I am amazed with the fun that a dc can have with a Cadbury Mini Eggs Cake Box. I think he is enjoying it more than he enjoyed the cake Grin

CatsSleepAnywhere · 15/04/2012 10:44

Zoo
What time is the party?

When do you pick up the kittens?

Have you chose a name for them?

CatsSleepAnywhere · 15/04/2012 10:46

Carrots mine were wearing their Easter egg boxes as hats the other day Hmm.

carrotsandcelery · 15/04/2012 16:40

How is TS Scout? I hope there is not sign of any measles developing and it is just a cold as you hoped.

I am also hoping zoo's party is going well and that the kittens' arrival goes well.

I have been listing on ebay and playing moshi monsters all afternoon.

I am totally sick of listing on ebay and I really hope it all sells so I can reclaim my lounge.

Dd is home from her sleepover and asleep on the sofa (I don't think much sleeping went on.) I am leaving her too it and praying she can still sleep tonight as well.

I phoned my dsil and my dn still has a raging temperature and is not eating now either. Poor wee soul.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 15/04/2012 17:22

I am back home now. We have had a lovely afternoon out. went to an abbey ruins and walked around. We get in free cause we are quite local. then we went to the seaside to get an ice-cream. DD's melted before she could eat it all.

I am now going to sort dinner but will be lurking.

Hope all went o.k. zoo

carrotsandcelery · 15/04/2012 17:37

That sounds a lovely day out Cats. I am Envy as it is snowing here!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 15/04/2012 18:18

I am Shock it is snowing carrots. We have had a sunny/cloudy day with a slightly cold wind which was very cold near the sea.

carrotsandcelery · 15/04/2012 18:25

We have had it all today Cats: sun, wind, rain, hail, snow on what seems to be a rotation basis. Hmm

I was nearly asleep on the sofa.

I managed to summon some motivation to make macaroni cheese with peas and sweetcorn and now I am sleepy again.

I am not too keen on the idea of school tomorrow. Dd has already been in tears about her new seating plan.

I can't really be bothered with it all.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 15/04/2012 18:40

I am in two minds about the return to school. I will miss everyone but on the other hand I can reclaim the house --if I'm not feeling CBA-- Pointy sticks may be required!

Not looking forward to the morning and getting DD ready as that is often a battle.
