Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 17:35

Ohhh, pretty rainbow out my window!

Any tips for getting Toddler into his seat for dinner? He wants to watch TV to eat and I'm mean and saying "no". I've just left his food on his tray. When we did this the other day it was a good 15 minutes of wailing until he gave in while I carried on eating. For now it's just the odd wail "no seat! Holly!" while he carries on playing.

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 17:41

Never mind, he's eating where he should be.

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 17:58

Well done Scout! Sometimes you have to pull down a cold heart and just tell them that is what they have to do then leave them to get over it

zoo ds is eating with my parents and dh is feeding dd (I imagine it will be an omlette) so I just have to feed myself.

I don't really fancy anything but I won't be home until about 11 so I know I should eat something. (very late lunch)

I am so exhausted I don't really want to go, but I am sure that once I am with everyone else I will build up my enthusiasm. I must make a mental note not to plan other things for the days we are at the hospital as it just wipes me out, no matter how often we go.

That said the next day we go (with ds) I have a night out as well. That will be round at a friends for Wine and more Wine though so I should be ok.

I need to go and wash my face and put on smarter shoes than trainers Blush

Give me a shove please...

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 18:07

Smart shoes? In this weather? Are you nuts?

I vote for staying dry. Grin

CatsSleepAnywhere · 27/04/2012 18:22

Don't want to upset you all but we have had a dry sunny day here. (Shame I was asleep for some of it!)

We had fish finger butty's with the DC earlier and I am about to do a pasta bake.

educatingarti · 27/04/2012 20:02

Back briefly!
In the middle of making home-made Cornish pasties ( I hope that's what they will be anyway!)

educatingarti · 27/04/2012 20:06

I have (apparently) made these before but I can't remember doing it!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 27/04/2012 20:41

Did anyone watch EastEnders tonight? It was very Sad, made me cry.

Zoo sorry you don't have bread till Sunday. Hope you have enough other stuff to get by. It's pants that people are struggling in this country.

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 20:48

Very random question -- for those whose DC have Playmobil, how old were they when they first received them? And did you go straight to the 4+ stuff or start with the Toddler bits?

zoo, I don't think I'm that far from you -- is there anything I can do to help?

art, how are the pasties?

Cats, we've had brief, and I mean brief periods of sun. But there's always a dark cloud around and the downpours are sharp and not always short. Weeks like this (and some of last) make me wonder why I moved to England.

carrots, yes, I definitely "laid down the rules" and let him realize on his own that I'm not horrible, he may not like it but he'll get over it. One thing about me is I am mostly consistent and don't make threats or promises I'm not prepared to keep. I have been known, though, to say "Mommy's feeling generous, would you like one more episode even though I said that was the last one?"

I wonder if the poor little old lady who kept ringing ever got through to her friend?

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 20:49

Oh, Cats, for got to say I don't watch East Enders so didn't see it. Sorry.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 27/04/2012 20:55

Hi Scout, we normally get quite a lot of rain here (not far from the lake district) so it is quite unusual for us to have so much dry weather Confused.
You have a hosepipe ban and yet at the mo you have lots of rainy weather.
It's all gone topsy turvy!

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 21:05

I used to not complain about the weather, figuring I chose to move here and knew what I was getting into. However, once I took that citizenship oath I let it rip I figured I was as British as all of my friends & MrScout's-- family so I could complain as much (if not more!) than the rest of them about it.

We keep having pretty rainbows, though, which is nice.

It's hard, though, because a few weeks ago we had fabulous, summerlike weather and now we have this water ban and more rain than the ground can keep up with.

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 21:07

How did it get to be 9 o'clock?! Shock

educatingarti · 27/04/2012 21:13

Second batch in oven.

Last time I made these I was 13 (which is why I don't remember).
Should have put some pepper in as well as stock cube though!

Cats, I'm not that far from the Lake District either. We had sun some of today though it is raining now!

Big Hint

I'm in a major conurbation about 1 to 2 hours south of Lake District
