That explains it then. Thanks Scout!

We used to get messages on our answerphone from an elderly lady who thought we were the minister's house when we lived in the city. I always felt so bad that she thought the minister wasn't phoning her back but she never once left her name or number. Sad

I know someone whose number is very similar to the vets and she gets calls in the middle of the night from farmers having trouble with lambing etc.

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 16:33

We're up to nearly 20 times now since 4 p.m.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 27/04/2012 16:35

I must go and sort dinner (sorry if repeating self) Just having a Brew first though. Wink

liveinazoo · 27/04/2012 16:35

i have the elderly resident who lived here previously phone number

i still get mail and calls from allsorts

i miss routine of the weekdays

having to do things at set times is much easier to do than a maybe which you can talk yourself out of

CatsSleepAnywhere · 27/04/2012 16:37

Anyone else?

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 16:37

zoo can you get the outside to run laps of the garden/block? 1 lap per offence?

Dd was driving me bonkers but dh managed to get her absorbed in a photography magazine he has borrowed and that calmed her down.

Dh is a bit Confused and Sad as when we were doing the work today with the psychologist it became very apparent that he probably is autistic.

The psychologist said that very intelligent kids can "learn" to overide their natural behaviour to try to fit in more and that ds might be doing a bit of this, which is one reason why he is still getting further assessment.

Dh is very intelligent and she basically said he had probably done the same. He actually got the giggles half way through as so many of the areas we looked at were entirely relevant to his behaviour.

From my point of view it gives me hope. Dh has coped, performed well at school and uni and in the work place etc. He has got himself a decent job and has made friends. If he can do it with no support whatsoever then ds surely can Smile

liveinazoo · 27/04/2012 16:38

poor you Scout

whats for dinner?

we are having oven chips

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 16:39

I think she has us on speed dial or just keeps hitting redial. Sometimes, like this last time, she mutters to herself "oh dear" and hangs up on me without speaking. I've let it ring a few times and she rings and rings and rings.

I hope she doesn't call the police "My friend's not answering her phone!"

MomScout thinks I should let Toddler answer (he likes playing telephone with a disconnected phone " 'Ello! chatter-chatter-chatter. BYE!" click).

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 16:42

Oh dear Scout. I feel sorry for you both. Sad Can she tell you her friend's name? Maybe you could help her figure out the correct number.

zoo what food have you got in and we can try to get creative for you?

liveinazoo · 27/04/2012 16:42

Scout19075 · 27/04/2012 16:50

I feel bad for the woman, I really do. She's tried to tell me the number and the name but I don't always understand her and the number she's given me doesn't always sound like the same number twice. Close to mine but not quite. I think she might have written a 9 or a 6 as a 0 or can't read her own writing.

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 16:51

Have you got a microwave?

Do you have tinned tomatoes?

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 16:54

Oh Scout that is such a tricky situation. Is she the only one in her house do you think? It sounds like she must be.

liveinazoo · 27/04/2012 16:54

no to the microwave
yes forgot tinned tomatoes

liveinazoo · 27/04/2012 16:55

oh scout that is hardSad

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 17:01

I can only see the obvious things there so far zoo.

eg beans and grated cheese (would have to baked them with some sort of lidded dish though - served with plain muffins (need only one egg for loads of muffins)

Roasted peppers and onions would be nice in a pasta bake but that would be hard to produce without tinned tomatoes to cook the pasta in.

I think it might be easiest to eat cake all weekend with cold beans out of the tin Grin

I will keep thinking.

Would your rice make a version of your oven rissotto?

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 17:02

Ah passatta and tinned tomatoes may save you. Won't be stunning cooking but will do the job for a few days.

eg onion and some passatta and some water and pasta and cook for a while. Add frozen veg (bit of all) near the end and bring up to heat again. Top with a little of the cheese for protein.

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 17:03

Roast the onion first so it has a nice flavour.

liveinazoo · 27/04/2012 17:05

i have arborio and plain white but all recipes i have it needs start in pan with butter softened onions

quite liking beans from the tin and cake suggestionGrin

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 17:06

You can bake soup rather than doing it in the hob too. I imagine it takes forever so check how much electricity you have first. Again I would roast my onion for it before I put the other stuff in. Then add lentils, frozen veg and stock/water and cross your fingers.

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 17:07

You could soften onions in butter in the oven on a low heat. It wouldn't be perfect but it would do.

Could you borrow a pan from a neighbour?

liveinazoo · 27/04/2012 17:07

its definately going to be a culinary experience!

maybe a scone style pizza base?

ooh ooooh have frozen sweetcorn too!

liveinazoo · 27/04/2012 17:09

how vile weather is baked soup sounds good

im in a semi and dont really know neighbour well enough to go on the cadge
