arti I have sent you another PM.

Scout19075 · 28/04/2012 07:53

Somehow my baby has become a 2 1/2 year old (officially today). HOW did that happen?!

Another wet one. I'm hoping to leave Toddler with MrScout in a few hours, when shops and services (the bank and post office) open, so I can do my errands quickly and without having to bundle Toddler up and out into the buckets of rain.

I wonder if the lady yesterday managed to get a hold of her friend.

bessie26 · 28/04/2012 08:15

Happy 2.5 birthday TS! Grin

I was out dropping off donations, going to the bank and then the post office. MrScout and Toddler met me in town for a warming beverage. Now he's reading to him (that would be MrScout reading to Toddler, though Toddler does like to "read" to us) in bed so Toddler will take a nap. Toddler doesn't normally get a story before a nap but with MrScout he does! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 11:20

Hello everyone!

Scout they didn't have the toddler playmobil when dd was little so we waited until she was 4 and even then we took away a lot of the tiny pieces.

My niece is just over 2 1/2 and we have bought her the Playmobil 123 and it is brillant. My dd (11) was playing with it with her very happily Grin I would heartily recommend it.

I agree with zoo though and wouldn't buy a thing until I had figured out how I was going to store it. I also keep the back of the box so I know what should be in the set. [playmobil obsessed]

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 11:24

I was wondering about your little old lady all of last night Scout. Sad

I went to see The Steamie at the theatre last night and thought of you all the whole time. It is a comedy about the women from Glasgow in the wash houses (where they went to wash their clothes before the days of washing machines and bathrooms etc.) It becomes a social meeting place and they have a lot of laughter and tears there, having a muck about together and sharing their woes together, supporting each other, having a moan etc.

It occurred to me that we, on this thread, are the modern day equivalent of the steamie!!!! It made me Smile and Grin

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 11:25

Happy half Birthday to TS Scout Grin

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 11:27

Nosey and wondering if Cats and Arti know each other in RL!

Scout19075 · 28/04/2012 11:28

Thanks zoo and carrots. Wasn't thinking of getting any Playmobil yet since we have a bunch of the ELC HappyLand stuff and the FP Castle (which I don't think they sell anymore) but I was looking at some of the PM stuff thinking "hmmm, Toddler might like that." And was thinking "I don't really want any more chunky stuff that he's going to lose interest in in two days time." Will hold off on Playmobil, I think, until he expresses a desire for it (or it's given as a gift and he loves it).

I think I need a nap with Toddler.

Scout19075 · 28/04/2012 11:33

How about Sullvanian Family stuff? Does anyone have that?

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 11:48

My dd has that. The Playmobil and Sylvannian toys are the toys that survived the Easter holiday "I am a grown up" room emptying Grin They seem to hold their interest the longest.

They also have the best resale value if you were going to sell them once outgrown will never be able to do that.

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 11:50

I don't know any boys who have become interested in Sylvannian tbh. There is no reason why they shouldn't but I have never seen it. Ds plays with most of dd's stuff but he has never shown much interest in it. He is not a stereotypical boy and has no strong gender bias iykwim. eg he loves playing with her hair styling head, beading, dressing up his teddies, wearing pink etc.

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 11:51

It may be because it is carefully guarded and he is not allowed to touch it of course. Grin

Scout19075 · 28/04/2012 11:54

I think Nephew1 (and maybe Nephew2, who is 10 months older than Toddler) plays with Nieces2&3 Sylvannian stuff but that's because in their house there doesn't seem to be any "property rights" to anything (which, in plain English, the kids don't seem to be allowed favourite treasures that their siblings aren't allowed to touch). I wasn't sure how usual (or not) it was for boys to like it, too.

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 12:07

I have just asked ds what he thinks of it. He gives it 9/10 and would play with it if dd would let him play with it.

I do let my dcs have property rights. Ds is much rougher with toys whereas dd is extremely careful. Our rule is that if it is not to be shared then it stays in your room (ie if you leave it hanging around the kitchen then it is fair game, if it is in your room then it should be left alone).

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 12:08

Sylvannian does also have loads of little pieces eg knives, jars, saucepans etc that I would remove from a toddler and pack away until they are older.

Scout19075 · 28/04/2012 12:14

Oh, don't worry, wasn't going to get TS any Sylvannian Family stuff. Egads, I'm not crazy enough to want to hunt for tiny cases and cutlery when he's only 2 1/2. I struggle enough to keep track of all of his train engines & trucks and those are chunky and mostly wooden. I was thinking more for presents for the children in my life (besides Toddler). I try to get a bit creative but also get something I know the child would really like and love.

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 12:52

As gifts then Playmobile and Sylvannian can't really go wrong imho (as longs as Sylvannian is given to boys who are not too uptight about gender issues). Grin

I have got my eating routine into a right mess.

I haven't had a proper evening meal twice this week and have had my lunch at all sorts of strange times and the same with my breakfast. Everyone is having lunch and I don't fancy any. I will later though and then I will be all wrong for our evening meal. What do I do? Do I have a small lunch now to try to get me back into a normal routine and then starve myself wait for my evening meal? It is like jet lag - I have meal lag! Shock

CatsSleepAnywhere · 28/04/2012 13:08

Hello, I am briefly home then off out again. I decided to go visit my brothers, They have a get together on Saturday mornings and play golf on the playstation. I would go more often but "stepdad" sometimes turns up there and I am avoiding him like the plague lately!.

Carrots I don't know arti in RL, it's just from something that was said last night we though we might be near or in the same county but it turns out that we are not that close after all (about 2 hours away from each other.)

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 13:11

I hope you had a good time Cats.

I have had a small lunch in the hopes that I can get myself back into a normal eating pattern.

I am waiting for dd to answer my text and she hasn't. I am hoping that means she is having a good time. Eeek!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 28/04/2012 13:12

Carrots I would have a small lunch now and then have a small mid afternoon snack then you will be o.k. till your evening meal. Wink

CatsSleepAnywhere · 28/04/2012 13:14
