I don't normally care what I eat (before meeting MrScout, and all growing up, I used to be chronically underweight no matter what I ate) but I just feel really bloated tonight. Blugh.

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 22:25

I fluctuate quite a lot on the weight front and am currently feeling decidely porky Blush

I usually slim down over the summer when treats are strawberries etc rather than Maltesers Grin

Fx that remains the same after I BECOME OLD bessie Grin

Scout19075 · 17/04/2012 22:33

I lost so much weight when I was on the meds last time that everyone keeps trying to fatten me up for round two. I had gained some of the weight back by six months after treatment but haven't been weighed since January so don't know what I am. Still in the two sizes smaller jeans I bought that used to be too big but now aren't sliding off my butt. I have my cardiologist appointment in two weeks so will get a better idea then.

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 22:37

I don't think you need to lose anything by the sounds of it right now Scout but you do need to eat healthily, I imagine, to be in the best of health before round two.

I am off to bed before I eat something else.

Good luck through the night everyone!

bessie26 · 18/04/2012 07:06

Oooh, an unbroken night's sleep! Haven't had one of those for a while! - bliss! Grin

CamperWidow · 18/04/2012 08:11

Morning ladies.
We are braving the crappy weather to get the bus and go to Derby, an hours journey. I am a volunteer giver for World Book Night and my books are ready to be picked up! :) Here's hoping we can have a few more letters than just B for I-spy!! Grin It's super tricky as she doesn't quite get that you have to see what you're thinking of, so we get penguins, gruffalo, circus, tigers.....
I am trying to lose just a little bit of weight all over with a combination of different excersizes on YouTube and trying to cut out crap. That bit is really hard as DH will got to the shop and spend a fiver a day on choc and jelly babies etc. However, Lollipop is a really good training buddy and keeps trying to copy the aerobics, she's really good at jumping jacks! She loves dancing at the minute, so I am running round alot and twirling.
Will come back proberly looking like drowned rats so can some-one have the kettle on and some towels by the fire? Grin

We're off to the Parent & Tot group in Guiding Village this morning so won't be around much until lunch time. And not only do we get to play and snack at Tots I get to do some of my errands/to do list! WAHOO!! I love when I can multi-task.

bessie, YAY for unbroken sleep.

zoo, good luck with the kits!

bessie, carrots and zoo, I'm not far behind you (age wise) and I refuse to be old! Grin My inner child is five and she's lovely.

sarahfreck · 18/04/2012 10:20

Camper - loving it that gruffalo, circus and tigers all begin with b!

Zoo - good luck with the kittens and your soft furnishings!

Scout - hope you have a good morning and get loads done.

Carrots - you are not (that) old

I too need to eat more healthily and lose some weight!

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 10:27

Yay for sleep! I slept from about midnight til 6.30 when ds woke me up screaming his head off. It was a rude awakening but a blissful night's sleep Smile It makes such a difference too.

I hope all goes well with the kits zoo. Can you teach them where they can and can't go? Pup is great that way and really obedient whereas Twilight claims she is deaf and does her own thing Hmm

Camper I shall have the kettle on and the home fire burning for you. I have just washed some towels so that should be perfect for you.

Scout I don't feel old either. I have to admit I am not happy about the big 4 0 but it is because it feels like it doesn't have anything to do with me (is that denial?)

I was 28 when I had dd and I still feel about 28/30 really. Grin

I have had a traumatic morning as I had to go and speak to ds's headteacher about what will happen to him next year. Luckily he has a new headteacher so it is not the one who caused half the problem in the first place. The new head had to say all the professional things about her staff (she wouldn't be doing her job right if she didn't) but I am hoping that underneath it all she understood what I was saying about his needs.

As the meeting went on she seemed to become more compassionate about what the world is like for him too which was encouraging.

FX she has taken onboard what I had to say and will do what she can to act on it.

She has asked for a copy of our most recent report from the psychologist. I am Blush as it gives a really honest summary of our parenting, which is mostly fine but does outline our failings too. If it will help ds get what he needs then I will hand it over. I did stress that it was a sensitive document and very confidential. There is a parent, one who began all the horror for us, who would have a field day if she got her hands on the info and she makes it her business to get access to all sorts of confidential documents by getting herself onto committees etc.

I was assured that only the head, his current teacher and his future teacher would have access to it.

Sorry for the essay. I am just having my breakfast and a Brew

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 10:30

Oh Sarah you might be my new best friend if you are, dare I say it, in the club I am about to join? Grin

sarahfreck · 18/04/2012 10:33

Carrots - been there - and the tee shirt is looking decidedly faded!

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 10:35

oh Yay! You have cheered me up Sarah. I feel less alone and I think a few of us on this thread will be joining you over the next wee while.

bessie26 · 18/04/2012 10:43

I think we worked out before that we are all roughly the same age? I will be old in November! carrots are you having a party?

Shock at MrCampers £5 a day on sweeties! Mind you, MrBessie probably does that, but just doesn't tell me!

The girls are at nursery/pre-school today, so I am trying to tidy the bomb site dining room ready for DD2's birthday lunch at the weekend.

I am really struggling. All this stuff is in here, because it doesn't have anywhere else to go, so where do I put it?! I could just dump it all temporarily in DD2's bedroom, but really want to find a proper home for at least some of it. I have:

  • small box of xmas decs - needs to go in the loft
  • papers for shredding (we don't have a shredder - DH needs to take these to work)
  • box of rewards for DD1
  • box of momentos for DDs (needs sorting)
  • farm set
  • box of books (in rotation)
  • easel (in rotation)
  • 2 boxes of photos that I am still waiting for DH to hang Angry
  • 1 box of toys (in rotation)
  • box files (DH & my filing)
  • overflowing box of brio
  • toy buggy, till, cat box, digger, hobby horse
bessie26 · 18/04/2012 10:45

carrots - I think I am still 28 too Grin

liveinazoo · 18/04/2012 10:46

scout my inner child doesnt have an age-depends what im doing

i love building sandcastles/skipping/hopscotch
colouring and arts and crafts
jumping in puddles

i could go on
i think thats why i like being around children-it allows me to do all the things i find fun!

i was smiling at little zoo this morning singing miss polly had a dollly along with peppa pig whilst i was plaiting her hair
ds looked at me and cam oner and stroked my face
"mummy you are smiling.whats making you so happy?"
i replied nothing
"but you never smile mummy...but i like it and ant to make you do it again"

so today im determined th zoo house will be a happy one when the dcs come home.....
any suggaestions for fun and frivolity

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 12:09

bessie I understand your problem completely. You have sorted out so far then reached the wall of unsortable. It is sorted into neat boxes but where do those boxes go? I am guilty of putting them in the loft. Now I put them below the loft hatch for a few weeks days and keep looking at them as they get in my way and decide if things can be sold, donated, binned etc even if I did that when I initially sorted them. The toys on rotation go in the loft. We don't have as much now but only because the stuff is smaller as my dcs are older. When they were toddlers the rotation boxes went in the loft.

I may have told you this but a friend of mine who is immensely organised has a folder with polypockets in it with photos of the clothes she has packed away. I have often thought that a log of the toys like this would be great and the dcs could chose a few each month and the rest could go in the loft.

zoo the smiling thing is completely understandable. You have not been well. It will sound a bit bonkers but I often think that making myself laugh and smile, even when I don't feel it makes it more habitual and then I find I do it more. It's like I have to practise Hmm It does work though. Cheesy comedy from Youtube or on tv and silly banter on here gets it started, trying to notice and make myself laugh with the dcs etc and then it comes without me trying. The dcs do love it if they can make me giggle. They will start it by asking me about funny things they did when they were little and it goes from there. Toilet humour also does it with them.

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 12:12

Frivolity ideas:

Play tig
Play hide and seek
Dance to the cheesiest music you can find
Tickle each other
Play twister (always ends in giggles)
Play consequences (when you fold the paper and add to the drawing or story above but don't know what is above)
Silly stories of daft things you have all done (age appropriate of course) Grin
Singing along at the top of your voices to songs on the radio
Singing along in the style of... to songs on the radio
Saying words so often they sound weird and then shouting them at each other
(dd did this with the word "testicles" the other day until I explained what they were Blush)

I will keep thinking.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 18/04/2012 12:22

Hello all, I am lurking with a Brew and a Biscuit.

I have been taking a little break from posting (as you may have noticed)

CatsSleepAnywhere · 18/04/2012 12:45
bessie26 · 18/04/2012 12:47

hey cats good to see you back

carrots I hadn't thought of putting the rotated toys in the loft, although I am worried that they will never come down again - taking photos is a brilliant idea.

We are doing lots of rhyming stuff with DD1 atm - it's amazing how many words you can make rhyme with poo if you try hard enough!

"Playful Parenting" arrived in the post this morning, so will let you know if I get any silly ideas from that!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 18/04/2012 13:00

Hi bessie Smile

Your cats are lovely! I used to have one like the fluffy one you have but she is sadly no longer with us.

I ought to get some lunch Blush. I have been wandering the boards and got reading a thread.

carrotsandcelery · 18/04/2012 13:03

Hi Cats - It is so nice to see you pop your whiskers out again. I am missing you.

We have the Playful Parenting book as well bessie. It is handy to drag out when things get a bit stale. I think lack of sleep can make it hard to be creative sometimes which is a shame because I used to be a naturally creative person.

I have signed up for 3 night classes in jewellery making. I don't know if I will like it or have any ability for it but I am interested to give it a go. The first one is tonight so I will report back tonight or tomorrow on how I got on.

If I manage it then I am hoping to share what I learn with dd and that it can be something we can do together.

liveinazoo · 18/04/2012 13:08
