Ooh that sounds yummy carrots - I also prefer the thicker american-style pancakes to the thin ones, I like them served with blueberry purée, but DD1 always makes a terrible mess! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 18:59

I used to strip the dcs to their vests to eat stuff like that when they were small. Grin

liveinazoo · 21/02/2012 19:05

i LOVE scotch/american thick pancakes with syrup/fruit/anything

mine eat messy things near naked with towels pegged behind necks-we a very mucky bunchGrin

carrotsid go full white suit and breathing apparatus...a mask may not be sufficiant!haha

liveinazoo · 21/02/2012 19:09

i popped into shops and got some reduced french fancies on a whim for pudding.i only went in for grapes and a tin celebrations leapt into the basket and refused to be wrestled out

may be a few days before chocolate free house!

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 19:22

Same here zoo - not a church goer and never encountered Lent until I met dh but wondered if it might motivate a positive change.

liveinazoo · 21/02/2012 19:27

motivate you to partake in lent or church?!

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 19:31

EEEeeek! NO! I was forced into too much of that as a child. I meant it might motivate me to take up a good habit if I first just committed to do it until Easter.

liveinazoo · 21/02/2012 19:39

aaahSmile
i was doing ok but ivde hit a go slow patch...my normally in bed kids are just about to be sent to bed.i havent washed up(and probably wont now til tomorrow)
feel an early night coming on as dd2 grumpy and developing a cough
roll on spring, warm weather and dispersing so many bloody colds etc

Scout19075 · 21/02/2012 19:40

MrScout volunteered to bring home dinner. Grin No idea what that entails.

I'm RC and will admit I don't go to church as much as I'd like to. I do do Lent though last year, doing treatments, I didn't do the give up food/fast on Fridays thing because I was rapidly losing weight and needed to eat what and when I could. The RC church is quite sensible about that sort of thing, though, so I didn't feel guilty.

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 19:51

I was raised Church of Scotland Scout and had no idea what Lent was until I met dh.

I then taught in a RC school and felt totally ignorant when all the classes went to be ashed. The kids were very confused that I hadn't been. I would cope with that discussion no problem nowadays but I was only 21 and just felt embarrassed.

Dh explained it to me afterwards but I did think it might have been useful to explain it to me the night BEFORE the event, not the night after!!

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 20:03

I have totally run out of steam.

zoo's talk of chocolate is making me wonder if I should give it a second chance and I fancy a Brew decaff of course.

Scout19075 · 21/02/2012 20:42

I ate too much pizza.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/02/2012 20:45

Waves at BC and Dlamis.

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 20:49

Neither do I Scout Grin

Has anyone seen Dlamis?

Aaarrrggghhh! Not BC as well. Ds has sore throat, Dh is dizzy and Dd seems drunk she is so tired. Sad

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/02/2012 20:55

Dlamis was here at around 3.00 today.

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 21:07

Ah! Thank you BC. I must have cross posted with her and not read upthread once my post was posted.

Hi Dlamis Grin

Scout19075 · 21/02/2012 21:29

I think I'm going to go to bed. I hope all the other poorly people and their little ones get a good night's sleep and feel better in the morning.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 21/02/2012 21:30

Right, I'm off to bed, will "see" y'all tomorrow.

carrots I have no idea what ashed means!

I have just eaten half a bar of G&B Grin One of my most successful attempts at reducing my chocolate intake was when I only allowed myself it on fridays. Whenever I fancied any I would think "noooo, I'll have some on friday", and kind of got myself out of the habit of eating it. After a while I forgot to eat it on fridays too!

The GPs said that DD1 was fine today except she didn't eat as much as usual (she refused rice pudding! Shock) she had a bit of a temp again, but seemed fine in herself - perhaps her 2 remaining teeth are coming through too?

I keep thinking that I'm feeling much better & then remembering that I'm dosed up on brufen! I got to use my Olbas Oil bubble bath tonight - lovely!

Both girls went straight to sleep & I haven't heard a peep out of either of them. Am a bit worried about going in to check on them as I'm afraid I'll cough & wake them up!

Has anyone managed any of the missions yet. I'm sat in bed looking at the mess, wishing I had done some, and yet CBA to get out of bed & do anything!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 22/02/2012 05:56

Rant and TMI alert!!!

Morning all, I'm up at stupid (5) o'clock again (this time thanks to DD).
Well yesterday ended in sh*t style. DD threw up all over DH on his work clothes, the cat was sick on the throw on the sofa and we only got 2 pancakes out of the disaster that was pancake mix. (won't buy that one again!) and not forgetting I had a stomach ache for most of the evening! which has now thankfully gone. It is raining and windy so don't want to leave the house.
So I am feeling Sad and Hmm this morning.
As for Flying I think I'm failing at most of it!

Sorry to start the day with a moan but just had to get it all out and seeing as I won't see another adult (To talk to) till 5.00 tonight I'm offloading on here.Sad

OMG! I've just noticed that Dick Dastardly and Mutley are on Boomerang followed by the wacky Races (Smile childhood memories!!!). DD wants peppa pig on, hardly compares does it!! Sad

I used to love Bagpuss and Chorlton and the Wheelies. "Ey up little old lady"
Grin and don't forget Trumpton and Camberwick green, Mr Benn, Danger mouse, I could go on!!

OP posts:
bessie26 · 22/02/2012 07:06

How is everyone this morning?

I used to love Chorlton & the Wheelies (apart from the Spikies, I never liked how they just popped up!)

We all coughed a bit during the night, (i slept propped up on pillows) i thought I was going to have to get upabout 5am, when they were both coughing & moaning, but thankfully they both settled themselves in the end.

I feel better than I did yesterday morning & I didn't wake up sweating during the night so think I must be on the mend. Grin

I can't remember if I said this last night, but DH is saying he feels so bad he might come home early (supposed to be away until fri) AIBU to want him to keep his germs away from us? He appears to be much worse than me & I think if he's not sleeping well, he shouldn't be driving 3-4hrs to come home and then keep me awake with his coughing

Had better get DD1 up & off to pre-school now.
