Morning everyone.

Ds did ok last night thanks. He kicked off at 11.05 and it took til about 12.15 for him to get the message that nothing/no one was going to help him Sad and fell asleep crying, "Mummy... Mummy..." which made me feel awful but he is pleased with himself this morning and has had lots of cuddles today so he knows he is loved Grin

Dd woke me up this morning at 6am excited about her school trip and wanting me to make her packed lunch Hmm

Ta Das:

Glad last night wasn't too awful carrots!!

Dlamis · 24/01/2012 10:12

Congratulations cairn

bessie I'm using an app for the control journal too. I'm finding it much easy to stick to the routines using the app than when i had a folder full of paper. I think it's partly because the child in me likes getting a little star lighting up whenever i press it to mark a job as done. :o

hugs and chocolates to help carrots with bedtimes and blackcat with nursery.

Ds's have decided they want to stop wearing nappies at night. Ds1 is 6 so it's about time really, ds2 not quite 4 so maybe a bit early Confused but he wants to copy big brother so we'll see how it goes. So lots of extra washing being created at the moment. Not good on a rainy day like today.

I've finallly got going on the 15 minute decluttering every day, need to start adding Kelly's mission in. Glad I didn't start yesterday though.! Our bed is one like this and is full of crap that we can't bring ourselves to throw out . I need 15 days under there, never mind 15 minutes.

TaDa's so far
Washing up done/dishwasher filled, shiny sink.
Bedding washed and hanging off bannister to dry
Kitchen floor swept

To Do
Lots :o

Scout19075 · 24/01/2012 12:29

carrots Sounds like you had a slightly easier night than you were anticipating?

Good luck, Dlamis. Toddler had his two year check yesterday and the HV going through my questionare starting talking to me about toilet training. Yes I know what to do and no neither of us are ready to start it yet, thank you very much.

I have a to do list a mile long to try and make up for yesterday. But it also has stuff for today's activities like swimming, hang up wet stuff, pack bags for Seniors and go to meeting.

Today's TaDa's include:
dressing TS & I to slippers (before breakfast Shock)
putting dinner in the slow cooker
washing up breakfast dishes
30 minutes declutter & flinging (managed to fill up about 3-4 carrier bags of recycling)
read the same stories repeatedly
set up some Brio and played
danced like a loon with TS
made lunch and put TS for his nap
packed swimming bag

I have gone through a file box in the living room and have managed to empty it with almost all of the contents going into recycling or rubbish. I had binders of Guide and Scout papers I'm never going to need to reference again and if I do I have the files on my computer. I've popped the papers into the recycling and the broken binders (from not being stored correctly) into the rubbish. Good binders I've stood up on a shelf to reuse. I can use the empty box to fill with things for the jumble sale. I feel really good about I've done. Now if it would stop raining cats and dogs I could take everything to the bins. The goal is, no matter what, to get the recycling into the bin before we go to swimming.

bessie26 · 24/01/2012 13:00

That's some good decluttering scout

Dlamis hope the night time thing goes ok. DD1(3.3) still wears a nappy when she sleeps & I can't see her stopping that anytime soon, it's not like you can teach/bribe them to wake up when they need a wee!?

I have just given the baby some peanut butter. Despite the fact that we have no history of allergies in our families, I get ridiculously worried about giving the DC stuff like that for the first time. I even made sure I had a bag packed for her just incase we had to rush off! She is, of course fine Grin and appears to LOVE it Grin

I've done some of my house blessing this morning & finalised the shopping list. I have also been making a "master" shopping list which has everything we are ever going to buy on, so that I can look through it & (hopefully) check I haven't forgotten anything like bum wipes or fruit juice.

Am going to do 15mins under the bed when DD2 has her nap, then continue with the house blessing.

Off to play with DD2 now!

carrotsandcelery · 24/01/2012 13:49

Hello again everyone. I have been out with my friend nearly all morning - good for the soul definitely.

I am not sure how much of my to do list I am going to get done but I will have to pack my ebay stuff and post it, which will mean removing more from under my bed, so I think that counts a bit.

I am delighted with ds's progress last night. I expected far worse. Thanks for your support everyone.

On the night time nappy business, I just left dd in pull ups until she was dry at night. She was 5 when it finally became a regular thing. Despite all his problems ds was much easier on this front at least and was dry at 3, the same point at which he was dry in the daytime too. It is certainly a tricky time of year for extra bed washing but if they are keen to have a go I suppose you have to take the opportunity. Good luck!

Scout that sounds like model flying to me. WELL DONE! It feels great when you see progress like that.

bessie I know exactly what you mean about the peanut butter. Very scary. I am glad it went well and that she liked it. I don't want to be mean but do keep an eye the next few times she has it as sometimes they can react the second time they have a nut (I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I couldn't not say just in case)

I am off to pack ebay stuff ready to post just before school pick up.

Anyone fancy a Brew ?

I have got "After lunch laziness". I always seem to feel sluggish at this time of day! Maybe I should be Spanish and have a siesta.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 24/01/2012 14:10

I am going to try and be strict with myself !! I have set my timer (while I have Brew) Then I think I need to do some timer work in kitchen again Hmm.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 24/01/2012 14:14

Wish I could curl up and go to sleep like my cat!

bessie26 · 24/01/2012 14:24

black if you are tired, then sleep!

Haha carrots, don't worry I kind of knew/thought that anyway! She only had a teeny bit today on some breadsticks, & plan to give her more tomorrow!

I've done 15 mins under the bed & now have a pile of clothes to be charity shopped Grin There are still loads more clothes under there, but it's a start! More house blessing now.

carrotsandcelery · 24/01/2012 14:24

Hi BlackCat. I was parceling ebay sales. I think that is them all done now. I have also put another wash on. I would love a Brew yes please. I still have choc digestives if you would like some

I feel sluggish just now too but my worst time is about 4ish if we are in during the afternoon or about 10 mins after we get in if we have been out. I usually perk up after my tea so I do wonder if I have a blood sugar dip then and should be eating a banana or choc digestive then.

I also envy the dog who can snooze whenever he feels like it and run 20 miles if the offer is there. I can't/couldn't do either.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 24/01/2012 14:25

Well done under the bed bessie. I seem to be stuck on the sofa waiting for BlackCat to bring me a Brew

Hello everyone. I'm just popping in. Our internet is back up and running
(hooray!)

But after 2 weeks of not being online I've discovered that not being on t'web is the best way to maximise productivity.

So for the next little while at least, I'm probably not going to post regularly here, but I may drop in with progress updates occasionally.

I'm generally managing to: shine sink, swish & swipe, put out clothes the night before (that last one is progress on before). I'm trying to do hotspots and laundry too, but progress is rather slow on those.

DS is still having a rough sleep patch so my evenings usually consist of going to bed early. It's much easier if I can stay off MN though!

carrotsandcelery · 24/01/2012 14:33

Hi Angel - glad to hear you have the net back and are still flying. Do come and visit us now and again. We miss you.

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 24/01/2012 14:54

I went and did 15 mins of washing up. I would love to have a nap but have to do the school run soon. Perhaps that will wake me up a bit, fresh air and all that.

Hi Angel, Lovely to hear from you again! As carrots said you have been missed! Smile

bessie26 · 24/01/2012 15:03

I did another 15 mins under the bed! I just couldn't help myself! So I now have a HUGE pile of clothes that I was just about to bag up when DD2 woke up - she's not napping well today, which is both Sad and a PITA!

cairnterrier · 24/01/2012 15:40

Hello everyone

Am wondering whether I can justify buying myself a lovely timer of some sort? Anyone seen any nice ones?

We've had a busy morning at the hospital getting DS retested for his allergies. Still allergic to egg but they're going to do a food test for fish in the spring so hopefully he may have grown of it by then. To be honest though, I've just realised that I'm getting pretty used to just looking for food that's egg and fish free and in most places there is something suitable.

DS is now exhausted as he didn't get a proper nap so he's falling asleep in front of Raa-Raa and I'm planning what to do next. Washing machine is on and I suppose I could get on with the washing up, but we're so close to teatime now that I'm tempted just to leave it and do it all after. hmmmmm.....

I really need to do the 15 minutes under the bed thing- the rest of my maternity clothes are under there, and my lovely, slim line evening dresses for when I had a social life :( Grin

So, to do:
fold dry washing
hang up washing from washing machine
make tea
wash up and do surfaces

to consider doing:
hot spot
swish and swipe whilst DS is in the bath, thing is though, I really need to do this in our bathroom, grrr.
15 min under the bed thing.

Think I'll stay where I am and contemplate this further!!

Hope everyone is having a more productive day :)

Scout19075 · 24/01/2012 15:51

I got most of the recycling to the bin before swimming. However bin seems to be full and I still have stuff to put in and it's still raining a storm out there. Recycling Bin day is tomorrow wonder if I can run out in the morning and dump the last of the crap-- stuff in? (Also wonders how I can maximize recycling bin space/usage....)

Waves to angel and agrees when the computer is on the fritz I'm much more productive. And like bessie I shutter at the thought of no computer/internet. Yes, I am additicted but I also use it to almost daily talk to my mom and/or my best friend.

carrots The going to the post office is one of the things about ebay that scares me -- days like today I just don't want to haul myself out in the downpours to slosh to town/the post office.

Looking forward to tonight's Seniors meeting we're having a board games night. Everyone's bringing snacks to share and their favorite games. It means no prep and very little for me to take this week! I did promise, though, some of TS's games CandyLand, Red Dog Blue Dog and Quack Quack Moo.

bessie26 · 24/01/2012 15:55

cairn I hate to tell you this, but alot of the clothes I am about to get rid of are going-out type dresses! TBH most of them are pre-DD1(3) & I am never going to wear them again!

The allergy thing sounds a pain, egg is in loads of stuff. How does he react if he has some? A friend of mine had to get the paramedics round for his DD, which I think is where my paranoia stems from!

cairnterrier · 24/01/2012 16:24
cairnterrier · 24/01/2012 16:25

DS reacts to eggs or fish by getting a rash (like nettle rash) around his mouth which then spreads over the rest of his body. Not life threatening but not to be encouraged either!

Dlamis · 24/01/2012 17:13

You tell em Scout. One of my biggest mistakes was trying to tt ds1 before either of us were ready due to pressure from other people who thought they knew better.

Thanks for the good luck wishes with the dry night. Despite the yukky whether I have managed to get two sets of sheets and waterproof undersheets dry just by hanging them in the over bannisters or in the bathroom and leaving the airing cupboard door open (lovely and warm in there).

cairn - both ds's were allergic to eggs. They grew out of it eventually but i got so used to checking for things with eggs in I went on autopilot & carried on doing it after they were ok!. Even now we hardly ever have eggs in the house as we got so used to not having them around.

Well i decided to do 15 minutes under the bed as well. Got rid of loads of old cards (i'm terrible for hanging onto cards) but couldn't bring myself to get rid of them all. Saved all the kids 1st birthday cards and christening cards and some other sentimental ones etc but at least there is a tiny bit of space under there now. Although it took a bit longer than 15 minutes as i spent loads of time reminiscing and being all soppy as i sorted through.:o

Dlamis · 24/01/2012 17:14

weather not whether

carrotsandcelery · 24/01/2012 19:21

Dlamis I tried to train dd too early as well, which is why it all became such a mess for us. I definitely recommend waiting until they are keen and aware and then it is relatively easy.

Scout what are you recycling? Do you flatten bottles (if you flatten and put the lids back on plastic bottles they stay flat) and boxes? Does your council allow you to put out an extra tub/bag of recycling. We are allowed more recycling and they will even give you extra tubs but they don't allow extra rubbish. If people have too much rubbish then someone goes round to talk to them about waste Shock

As for having to drag myself to the post office, ours is right beside the school and I have to drag myself to school to drop off and pick up the dcs so it is not such a challenge. A rural post office is quite a nice place too - never too busy and you know most of the people there Grin Enjoy seniors.

BlackCat thanks for the Brew It must be time for another by now. I will make you one this time Brew

We are off to do our final bedtime routine. fx for a peaceful evening and night for everyone. I will be back in a wee while.

OP posts:
cairnterrier · 24/01/2012 19:41

carrotsandcelery hope your evening routine all goes well. I'm just having a little sit down before tackling the washing up.

diamis what age did your DCs grow out of their egg allergy? I'm trying to work out if it justifies me buying a new vegan cookery book Grin. Or whether I should be sensible, save money and just do internet searches for recipes instead.
