Morning all!

I hope everyone copes ok with their lists today. One step at a time and we will get there.

I am going for coffee with a friend this morning and then bobbing around doing little jobs while I am in the village next to us (which is much bigger).

All our after school activities have stopped so that gives me some breathing space.

I got a letter last night effectively chucking ds out of his favourite after school activity which was very sad for him and therefore us. It was very politely put and they did offer an alternative but they knew as well as us that the alternative was an impossibility. I am beginning to realise all the extra slaps in the face those with special needs have to take, which no one would notice or realise if their child had no problems (myself included up until now).

Oops! That posted too soon.

I am now trying to decide whether to write back or let it be.

I also need to do more washing, drying and ironing and to make a better attempt at a house blessing of sorts before Sunday.

Eeeek!

Xmas Sad, parsnips.

I decided to bin swimming so I've a bit more time this morning. Off to the supermarket & farm shop.

I went to bed ridiculously late (playing on MN Xmas Blush) but feel quite awake now after sleeping through my alarm again.

DS is getting cross that I can't understand all his words today - he's 'counting' (saying random numbers) and I just can't follow him. I'm all Xmas Confused

I must turn the internet off as I'm wasting time again.

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 22/12/2011 14:00

Well I didn't manage to get out this morning at all. DS has been pretty hyper (due to sleep deprivation, I think).

He's asleep now so hopefully he'll be better this afternoon. Will try to do shopping later.

I didn't manage to nap, but it gives me a bit more time to do things now. I need to:

Wrap DH's cake
Put on WM
Find out a way of making recycled jam jars look pretty.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 22/12/2011 14:44

Angels on the jar front, have you any nice fabric? You could cut circles with pinking shears and cover the tops with them, securing them with an elastic band or gift wrap ribbon.

poor little parsnips Sad he must be gutted. Do all his friends go? Hope your DD is ok too?

Here's my list

  • vacuum upstairs
  • vacuum downstairs
  • clean downstairs bathroom
  • mop kitchen & utility floor
  • take recycling to the tip
  • take parcel to PO
  • take parcel to people down the road
  • tidy dining room (have started this)
  • declutter toys in living room
  • tidy kitchen (started)
  • make ice cubes
  • wrap presents (nearly all done)
  • get DD1 to help wrap some presents
  • make brownies
  • make cheesecake
  • deliver present to DHs godson
  • clean dining room floor

need to sort out DD2s tea & go pick DD1 up from pre-school now. Hope you are all making good progress!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 22/12/2011 16:54

Hi bessie Dd is fine and seems to be "enjoying" the extra attention that comes with a minor injury that doesn't cause you too much hassle. Xmas Grin

Ds is very sad and keeps getting upset with me about it. Believe me if I could make it right for him I would but I suppose I am the safe place to let out his frustration. The group involved a lot of children he felt safe with and had a good time with and encouraged him to play with a mixed group which didn't involve any of the boys at school who make life difficult for him. He counts down the days to this activity so is now just so sad.

He will be able to pick it up again in a few years time but that is no consolation to him now. To a newly 7 year old a few years is a lifetime away.

I have done the Christmas shop, more or less. I haven't got the ingredients for dh to make trifle as I am not sure exactly how he wants to do it this year.

So far it is all sitting on the kitchen floor as I can't face doing anything with it now. I went far too long without eating and ended up all wobbly and headachey so just plonked it all down and there it has remained.

I also haven't done the dishes, worktop, laundry... I will get to it but just can't make myself now.

I did manage to drop off another 2 Christmas parcels though.

I have also managed to blether with my friend over coffee for far longer than we intended and then wander around a local Garden Centre Christmas shop for even longer Xmas Grin

I also had a cuppa with my ddad which was lovely. He was the only one in so we had a good chat.

I also seem to have managed to buy an extra box of chocolates. There was a special deal and it seemed wasteful just to buy the one box I intended to Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

The best thing of all was that Morrisons were selling my favourite brie and cranberry parcels in their party food section. Uber unhealthy but so so so delicious!! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

bessie that is quite a list but you have made good progress already.

Xmas Sad for Carrots DS.

I feel a mix of slightly panic but also o.k. as I think the present situation may be under control. I have wrapped most --still three to wrap-- of the ones that have to go out of our house to family but still haven't wrapped all of DS presents and a few of DD stocking fillers.
I am just hoping I have bought enough for DH and enough stocking fillers for the DC. (I probably have.)

I had to go to shop again today as there was a few things I forgot to get yesterday.(food shopping)

I feel I may have a cold brewing too. (Have a sore throat).Xmas Sad

DD slept all night last nightXmas Grin yay!
First time for a while!

Hope you all are o.k.

I have been too busy to be here the last few days.--very unusual--

bessie26 · 22/12/2011 22:52

carrots hope you have put your shopping away by now?!

black I'm starting to panic a bit too! I have 3 things I need to make, so that's probably all my spare time on Xmas eve used up (we are out at ILs for a while) so I need to do everything else tomorrow! I will have to prioritise & delegate in the morning, and stop adding things to the list!

To make things worse I have been feeling cold, tired & achy all day and I have a sore throat. I had some ibruprofen this morning, chocolate this afternoon & some wine this evening. None have been the miracle cure I'm looking for!

Bed now.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 22/12/2011 23:04

Bed bessie and a good dose of vit c.

Shopping is away and that is about all I have done except eat some grapes Xmas Grin

OP posts:
AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 22/12/2011 23:10

Thanks, BlackCat Hooray for DD - hope she does it again tonight and that your throat improves.

I managed to find some nice bits of ribbon & fabric in my sewing box. Xmas Smile

DH has read me the riot act and said I'm not allowed to make presents in future unless it takes a lot less time.

Negotiations continue about when to cook our Christmas dinner. I think we'll have jacket potatoes & bolognese from the freezer on 25th as it'll be quite a busy day and we'll do the proper dinner another day.

Done:
Wrap DH's cake
Put on WM
Find out a way of making recycled jam jars look pretty.
Supermarket shop
Farm shop

Tomorrow:
Take DS to clinic to get possible tongue tie looked at
Make biscotti
Prettify jam jars
Wrap some presents
More laundry (does it ever end?)

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 22/12/2011 23:11

I've put some reminders in my calendar for September next year to get me going on Christmas extra early!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 22/12/2011 23:15

Angel we need a prep for Christmas timetable.

eg Jan - buy crackers, wrapping paper, ribbon, napkins, decorations etc in sales. Set aside X amount of cash for Christmas.

And so on...

OP posts:
AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 22/12/2011 23:26

Definitely.

I've already bought my cards for next year!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 22/12/2011 23:28

I will wait as our school did the ones the kids designed and they were great (and made loads of money for the school). I will buy all the other bits and bobs and store them in the Christmas box in the loft though.

OP posts:
AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 23/12/2011 13:57

Clinic wouldn't even look at DS's tongue as he's not a newborn. Hmm

I've half an hour left of DS's nap. Off to start mixing up some biscotti. He went to sleep on time so hopefully he shouldn't be in bed too late tonight & I'll have time to do some baking.

bessie26 · 23/12/2011 14:12

I am supposed to be mopping the floors, but instead I'm holding a snotty, crying baby who won't nap - hopefully the Calpol I just gave her will cure whatever the problem is

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 23/12/2011 16:58

Oh dear. Poor baby bessie - cold are rank when you are a baby. Poor little Angel too. Why does it matter if he is not a newborn. A tongue tie is a tongue tie surely Xmas Hmm

Brace yourselves Dd is tidying her bedroom. She claimed she was finished so Dh went to inspect. She is now very pale and dh has been up there for a while. I am hiding. Xmas Grin

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 23/12/2011 21:22

Hi all, we have wrapped all presents!Xmas Grin Xmas Grin fgrin]Xmas Grin.
I can't believe it!
I am in a state of shock and now don't know what I will do tomorrow!
Only joking!
We are normally wrapping frantically on Christmas eve but this year we won't have to. yay!

I think tomorrow will be a family/housework/chilling out kind of day.

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 23/12/2011 21:25
Xmas Shock
roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 23/12/2011 21:41

Well done BlackCat. Yay! Xmas Grin

Tomorrow I am:

Helping dd wrap a parcel
Making mince pies
Decorating the Christmas cake (will get the dcs to help)
Cleaning out the guinea pigs
Tidying up
Delivering 2 gifts
Making a Christmas dinner for just the 4 of us
Possibly going to the Christmas Eve service (the kids one not the midnight one)

It is quite a lot when I look at it!

Yikes!

OP posts:
bessie26 · 23/12/2011 23:37

poor little parsnips he must be gutted. Do all his friends go? Hope your DD is ok too?

Here's my list

  • mop kitchen & utility floor
  • tidy dining room (almost done)
  • declutter toys in living room
  • tidy kitchen (ongoing)
  • make ice cubes
  • wrap presents (nearly all done)
  • get DD1 to help wrap some presents
  • make brownies
  • make cheesecake
  • deliver present to DHs godson
  • clean dining room floor
  • make Wellington for Xmas lunch

So my plan tomorrow is to make brownies in the morning, the cheesecake in the afternoon & the Wellington innards in the evening. DH will be entertaining the DDs. Am hoping the weather will be nice so he & DD1 can go play on her bike as she's unlikely to get outside much the next few days.

We are going to a kiddies service at ILs church tomorrow afternoon, MIL should love it as she will have all 3 of her DGC there Xmas Grin - I am trying not to get arsey concerned about them getting tea at 5, so we can be home for bath at 6 & bed at 7

Well done with the wrapping black, this is the earliest I have ever had it done & I can't quite believe it too!

DH realised this morning that he hadn't got anything for me from the DDs, which would have meant the only present I would have on Xmas day morning is the running top I got myself for him to buy me!

Apparently DD1 had told him ages ago what she wanted to get me, so he rushed out to buy it. I wonder if it's the same as what DD1 told me she wanted to get him, which was some turtles to play with in the bath! She also told me DD2 wanted to get him a cuddly elephant, so that's what he's got! What have your DCs got you & DP?

bessie26 · 23/12/2011 23:39

Ooops, bit too much copy & paste there! I blame the glass or 3 of wine I necked had earlier

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 24/12/2011 00:11

Right, I need to go to bed.

First cooking of biscotti - done (to my surprise). Xmas Grin

Tomorrow:
Slice & re-cook biscotti.
Package up biscotti for DH's family (mine too if time)
Prettify jam jars
Wrap presents (DH is doing DS's Xmas Smile)
Pop to the market for sprouts
Go to children's service at church

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 24/12/2011 00:15

Well done, BlackCat - enjoy tomorrow.

Hope you get the essentials done, parsnips & bessie - and that DD2 is feeling better tomorrow.
