Brace yourselves... I have... decluttered the side board!!! This is monumental!

Gossip is a wise lady. We have put on the Twisted Christmas and it had got everyone charging around bouncing as we declutter the kitchen. It is nearly done. We just have a massive pile of clean laundry to sort and then we can clean the kitchen Xmas Blush and THEN we can put up the tree. Yay!

I have also finally stapled all the Christmas cards so far to ribbons to hang in the hallway and cheer it up.

We are creeping there in tiny little but successful babysteps. Xmas Grin

Good luck to the underslept. Lively Christmas tunes are the way forward.

Yay, parsnips! Xmas Grin

Well done, BlackCat, keep it up. Xmas Smile

You're doing well still, Gossip; liking your ideas.

I've hoovered the WHOLE house (apart from the upstairs stairs) - first time for months it's all be done at once.
Changed sheets
Had a nap.
DH did the shopping - will do mine another day
Put on washing machine
Ran dishwasher & unloaded/reloaded

Need to:
Make DS's lunch
Wipe high chair
Hang up wet washing x2
Put another load of washing on
Write cards

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 17/12/2011 16:45

Well done all!Xmas Smile

I am trying to feel "Normal" again. I have been Christmas shopping this afternoon
so getting Hot/Cold/Hot/Cold as I went in and out of the shops. I'm sure it can't be good for you. There was another thread about the shops being overheated the other day and I quite agree!

My plan next is to have dinner, then sort what I have bought and hopefully wrap some.
Haven't finished the Christmas shopping so I will hopefully have another go tomorrow.
I'll be glad when it's done then I can relax a bit!Xmas Hmm

GossipWitch · 17/12/2011 18:14

Failed slightly but i have tonight to go, couldn't collect packages as post office as it was shut so i will be doing it monday instead, dp treated us to a mcdonalds for lunch so I don't have to worry about that.

have a shower

put clothes away

cook dinner
cook tea
wash up and shine sink for first time in a month !!!!!!!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 17/12/2011 18:15

Everyone has had a sudden burst of mania! We have cleaned the kitchen, hall and lounge, put the cards up properly, put the kitchen tree up, broken a brand new set of lights (my fault - hoovered the end of the cable. D'oh!) mopped the kitchen floor etc. I feel really, really tired but it looks SO much better now and feels a lot more Christmassy too.

I know what you mean about hot shops blackcat. It is awful when you are carrying heaps of bags and you are wrapped up against the wind and then step into a roasting shop. Some of the shops won't even be heated though. I used to work in a clothes shop and it was boiling but it was all the display lights that did it, not the heating. We never put the heating on!

I have done the majority of my shopping online this year and this time I am only waiting for 2 things still to arrive - on is on preorder and hasn't been released yet I don't think and the other is tickets.

bessie26 · 18/12/2011 07:57

I think I did the last of my shopping online last night, and got a pretty decent nights sleep so am feeling much better this morning!!

The Xmas music will definitely be going on later to help get us into the festive spirit!

DH remembered we have some choccy croissants in the freezer, so we've got those for breakfast

DD1 & I made these biccies the other day, and ate them (almost) straight from the oven for our pudding. She said they made her tummy all warm & yummy!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 18/12/2011 12:16

bessie I think there is a recipe of gingerbread biscuits on my recipe blog which is egg free and really delicious as well. I can't remember how to get to my blog to have a look (new laptop and I had it as a favourite on my old lap top so it was easy to find).

Hello all, I went Christmas shopping this morning so I have hopefully done most of it now.Xmas Grin I am going to try and get some wrapped today too so I will have more time in the week to spend with the DC and getting the house ready.

bessie26 · 18/12/2011 13:43

Here's your blog parsnips

DDs are in bed so I'm going to look at the present pile & start wrapping!!

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 18/12/2011 15:03

Aaargh, wasted naptime on MN

Need to run round & tidy everything - 20 mins till DS wakes up.

We make biscuits like those, bessie, with raisins in for DH. They are very yummy and DH says mine are much nicer than the ones my mum makes.

I might make some myself later.

GossipWitch · 18/12/2011 15:54

I cannot believe I woke up at 2pm, 2PM!!!! I have wasted nearly a whole day its ridiculous, and I can definitely blame dp for that one, he got up with kids and left me in bed!!!!!!!! however i have put a load of washing in, put clothes away finally and dps blitzed the kitchen so I'm on dinner duty.

bessie26 · 18/12/2011 19:26

2pm? Envy

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 18/12/2011 20:00

Gossip Envy at 2pm and double Xmas Envy that you have such a lovely dp that he would do that for you. I get grumpy if dh is still in bed at 9am! [grinch emoticon]

I have done a little bit more Christmas decorating and some food shopping but mostly I have been helping out with a Christmas project dd and her friends were involved in today which was great fun.

I have no idea if the dcs have school clothes for tomorrow now though. Xmas Hmm

bessie26 · 18/12/2011 21:02

right, after looking through the gifts we have this afternoon, I've done some more last minute panic buying for DD2.

Need to think about what DD1 & I are going to bake tomorrow, and start meal planning for the xmas hols....

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 18/12/2011 21:04

I am completely stuck on the holiday meal plan bessie. I have got as far as a traditional Christmas dinner on Christmas eve except with quorn fillets instead of turkey and croissants and pain au chocolat for breakfast on Christmas day. Before and after that I have not a clue!

OP posts:
roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 18/12/2011 21:05

Maybe mince pies, crisps, dips and Christmas cake Xmas Hmm

OP posts:
AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 18/12/2011 21:52

Envy, Gossip. It must be years since I slept that late.

Didn't get as far as cake making but DS and I had a nice walk and I went and sang carols at church this evening. I do love a good sing. Xmas Smile

I'm experimenting with an internet-free day tomorrow in an attempt to be more efficient. Xmas Blush DH is turning it off at source.

I need to collect some more Christmas lights, buy ingredients for foodie presents, make some tree decorations and make some cake. Oh, and post my way-too-late cards.

GossipWitch · 18/12/2011 22:12

Oh he is a bit bloody fantastic, defo a keeper me thinks :)

bessie26 · 18/12/2011 22:17

We need a "like" button on here Xmas Grin

So far I have: washed and dressed, done lunches, got dcs to school, done a tiny bit of ironing, tidied kitchen and stairs.

Still to do: kitchen worktops, some baking, more ironing, tidy master bedroom, swish bathrooms.

What is everyone else up to today?

OP posts:
BlackCatinaSantaHat · 19/12/2011 10:41

So far I have:
done breakfast for all
sorted some toys for DC to play with and taken lots of toys back upstairs.
Had a clearing tidying session in dining room/living room. It did look good after I had cleared it but now DD has tipped all her puzzle pieces onto the floor so it's not so tidy.Xmas Hmm

Am hoping I will get the hoover around the room at some point.

I have both DC home now as DS has broke up from school. I may not get much spare time for MNetting as I will be busy trying to keep them entertained along with everything else.

Also trying to cut down DS snacking habits.

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 19/12/2011 14:59

Hoovering all done. Just chilling on MNet now while the DC are playing cars.
I will probably be busier later in the week cause DH will be here to help with stuff.

bessie26 · 19/12/2011 15:56

DD1 & I made more biscuits this morning! I've done some laundry, started a meal plan (still don't know what we're going to have for Xmas lunch!), & made a load of pasta sauce for the DDs tea (now in slow cooker keeping warm)

Later I need to

  • pack DD1s bag to goto GPs tomorrow
  • more meal planning
  • sleep

But right now I need to wake DD1 up from her nap
