Hey everyone, Merry Christmas! Xmas Smile

Thought I'd pop in to wish you all a smashing festive time and to ask, actually, where did 2011 go?!

2010 I had Christmas on my list from January, and I'm going to do the same for 2012, much calmer, more done, more fun and more festive.

Looking forward to the morning, excited to see DS face, he's 3 and a half, ergo giddy as a kipper, but also excited to open my pressies - Santa's bringing me a Filofax! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Clever Santa.

Just waiting for DH to get back from pub for his annual old schoolmates bevvies and I'm getting impatient as I want to go to bed soon so I can get up sooner!

Merry Christmas! xx

AliBellandthe40jingles · 25/12/2011 08:46

Merry Christmas everyone!

Wasting, yes we feel like that about 2011 here too!! I am also determined to be better this coming year and will be listing with a vengeance once we are home again on Wednesday.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 26/12/2011 09:31

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL SLATTERNS

Hope everyone had a great xmas day. We had a fun one at the Biscuit household with lots of presents all round a super dinner (if I do say so myself).

Hopefully the kids will play all day nicely with new toys and DH and I can chill a bit. Friends and kids coming over later to help eat up leftovers.

xxxxxxxxxxx

JKSLtd · 26/12/2011 10:25

Merry Christmas from me too Grin

We had a good day, I'm mostly bemused by my mil, she insists on spending x amount on me and dh, the only thing I'd asked for was a clarinet stand - and was really looking forward to getting it- but it was v cheap so she was stuck, she bought what must be a mega-bucks gok wan smelliest set in an eyesore of a huge bag thing. And has already confessed to being envious of it - a classic case of buyin someone else something that you want yourself, and I would happily give it to her but that would be so rude, daft isn't it?!

JKSLtd · 28/12/2011 11:26

Right I really must get this house sorted!

Pil have gone home, my parents coming this eve. Lots to do...

JKSLtd · 28/12/2011 14:47

Right I have:
-stripped and remade all beds (except DD who is sleeping in hers!)
-swapped bath mats & towels

  • done loads of washing an drying and ironing and putting away
  • made popcorn for ds1 & friend
  • moved me & dh back to our 'right' sides of the bed (I always sleep nearer the door until I stop night feeding)
  • lots of general tidying
  • spare room ready for parents
  • started going through DD's clothes

To do:

  • more laundry ...
  • maybe some hoovering?
  • finish my bowl of popcorn Grin
  • change DD's bed maybe
- finish sort of DD's clothes
  • resist putting away any decorations Grin
anonEnormousJuicybird · 28/12/2011 17:03

Crikey, JKS, one lot out, the others in... all staying over as well??? You are a saint!

DH was also keen to get rid of the tree and decs pre NYear Holiday... have persuaded him to leave til next week, just!

And re MIL present - does seem a shame! Though my sister excels in the random present department.... I bought her something I thought was utterly minging and she genuinely and completely adored it. Clearly I've been going wrong all these years in trying to buy her something tasteful and or useful. No, just go blingy ultra silly faddy tat! Hurrah! The one consolation, once I get over the embarrassment of buying such items, is that they tend to be cheap or on discount!

JKSLtd · 28/12/2011 22:19

Lol Anomn bonus that they are cheap! I googled the vanity case and it was half price at boots so hopefully she got it for that, just not sure what to do with it & contents now - could invent skin reaction & give it all back to her? Prob will just store it in wardrobe for years/until we move into a retirement home then bin Grin

The saintly part is having my mad & depressed uncle for 'christmas' lunch on fri ...Grin

Did:

  • more laundry, nearly finished
Did not:
  • Hoover
& other bits, on phone & haven't really sorted cut and paste!
AliBellandthe40jingles · 28/12/2011 23:03

JKS - can you hang onto it and re-gift it to someone else?

DH and I did well this year, no vile presents. And my Mum said that she didn't spend very much on me, so she wants to get me something else so I have a present 'owing' which is rather nice!

We are home, we've had a lovely time but it is nice to be back. Our best friends are coming to spend the NY weekend with us which we are really looking forward to so we are just planning what yummy grub to cook Xmas Smile

I have got a bit of a twitch on about getting more organised this year though. I am mentally constructing lists Grin

JKSLtd · 29/12/2011 06:42

Ali lol at twitching re lists I really want to sort out the amount of crap we have, we really have too much.

Thing is with Mil, she'll refer to the 'thing' often, probably ask how I'm getting on wih it, have I tried the extra body butter yet, am I finding it incredibly usefull for all my 'bits', etc.
She's known me for 16 years, I've never owned 'bits' I might keep in a vanity case! I don't wear or even own makeup, just missed that part of teenage hood or something, think she's (not so) secretly hoping I'll turn into a 'proper woman' at some point Grin Hmm

New thought- i'll test each thing, then find a friend who would like it and doesn't mind that I've opened it, then when she asks I can answer honestly, but I think I hve to keep the case for a while.
Mind you I could now get rid of the plain black (ie not ugly) one that her sister gave me years ago Grin

AliBellandthe40jingles · 29/12/2011 08:01

Do you think it's a question of not having daughters to buy this stuff for? I can see myself doing this in future Grin

Open some of it and leave it in the bathroom for guests - and MIL! - to use when they come?

DH has taken the boys downstairs so I'm going to have another hour in bed and then get up. Smile

JKSLtd · 29/12/2011 11:49

It definitely is that Ali, she has said before she wishes they'd tried for one more baby hopefully to have a girl - esp now that's what I've got.
And her Dils are slightly disappointingWink one doesn't talk to her (weirdo) and one is not girly at all, sigh for herGrin
My mum I think struggles what to get for me, a scarf & scarf ring ? This year. They re better at buying for dh. I didn't think I was that hard to buy for but even my sister seems to struggle - a mug...

Mulledmammoth · 29/12/2011 12:46

morning! oo its nearly lunch time. Ah well. HMHB and family have just left, fab to have them here (DGCs very cute, I love hearing their little conversations with each other). So feet up time now, until new year.

Hello, can I join you nice people please? Really struggling with housework since starting PT work, DH is a SAHD and does more than his fair share but it's a struggle as he has a prolapsed disc. We've done quite well with decluttering over the last year but we still have a long way to go.

Today's list:
Go to work done - I'm in the staff room! until 5pm... That'll be fun with 3hrs sleep, my 2yo DS was up with a wheezy cough
Sort out P46 at work
Sort our bedding out as said DS managed to undo his nappy while in our bed - DH put the wash on so hopefully it'll dry on time!
Phone OU to sort out funding/registration issues for my next course.
Drink Pepsi max to wake the feck up doing now!

:)

goldbow · 30/12/2011 08:40
