carrots- not white wine vinegar, use white vinegar (its clear vinegar). that should get the blood out. I used it on my pale beige carpets when my friend fitting them cut himself.

This morning I have been for a 3 mile run Shock. Then had my car windscreen repaired, I have sat down to do some uni owrk. managed to read a few pages before being distracted by facebook and chatting on there. Have had some lunch, going to try and work til 1/1.30 before I go and spend some time at the allotment

I have tried the salt and cold water trick on the carpet that my mum suggested as didn't have white wine vinegar. Grin I can't tell if it has worked or not as they are now so wet. It has taken me ages and my knees are wet too but fingers crossed.
I have also made the casserole and it smells lush.
The ironing is done and the washing is folded so I though I deserved a wee rest. Not a malteser in sight though. We are celebrating dd's birthday this weekend and then Mothers' day so there will be a few meals out etc so trying not to go mad Shock

Hello,can I join.
Blush dd has written in her secret diary (not so secret obviously Grin) that her house is untidy and I am mortified. I used to flylady but got fed up of the thousands of emails so I thought I'd get back in through this thread if I may!

Welcome and jump in Bucharest Grin We are all doing different things so pick up what suits you. You can choose to just get one flylady email a day, or none at all and just work from the posts on here or the website if you prefer. I never read the email anyway. Your dd will soon be bragging in her diary about how sparkly and clutter free her house is!

hi Bucharest I get the daily email, but only ever read the daily "flight plan" section of it. i think there's also a section for the kids, perhaps your DD could so that?!! Grin

carrots glad you liked the casserole - you should get the quorn kitchen recipe book, it's fab!

dosey & dyls I am very Envy of your running - am looking forward to getting my running shoes back on in a few months time! Grin

I did the weekly meal plan today, and the supermarket shopping list. Then spent about 2hrs decluttering/sorting out stuff in the spare room - it's taking me ages, but that's because I'm finding proper homes for everything. I need to empty the bookcase in there tomorrow. It would be easy to just put the books into boxes in the loft, but I'm determined to either find a proper home for them or they will be going to the charity shop!

Bucharest - I'm only on day 16 unfortunately today's thing is to read a flylady email, so I guess you won't like that! I get all the emails in a 'daily digest' too, would be v annoying otherwise.

Carrot - did your stains come out?

Today I have done all my morning tasks + the weeks handwashing and admin. DD2 has had a nappy explosion though so that's upset the laundry routine!

DH seems to be on Flyman or something - has started taking the recycling out each night and getting extra early!

spongefingerssavedmylife · 31/03/2011 10:57

getting up extra early!

Carrotsandcelery · 31/03/2011 13:33

Afternoon all!
sponge - I am amazed but the stains did come out. I have since discovered more but they are on tiles so that should come out when I start mopping in a mo.
My dh is a flyman too - he got in a state about shining the sink last night before bed Shock. Housework is teamwork in my book!

We have guests for dinner tonight so I am racing through another house blessing and trying to mop the kitchen which is my most hated of all jobs. (makes mental note to take the laptop out of the kitchen before she starts mopping).
The food is sorted though so that is one less anxiety.

Today's mission is here I am not sure I will get to it today. We have visitors coming tomorrow as well though so it might happen before they arrive.

bessie I have ordered the cookbook - looked useful with all these carnivores around me.

I have mopped myself onto the stairs. Hopefully all blood has now gone and my kitchen will be properly clean for at least half an hour (pick up ds in an hour!)
Second house blessing now complete too. Whoop!
I would like to clean out the smelly furries upstairs before my guests come so that is the next task. [nose peg emoticon]

Tomorrow I am going to do my mission and my cleaning list so I am all sorted for the weekend. Also just been for a run once the kiddies had gone to bed. Going to try for an early night and hope dp doesnt snore all night xx

am Envy of your flymen! DH has his moments when he can clean/tidy like a man possessed, but not really something you can count on on a regular basis!

I just have a few things left on the bookcase in the spare room, yet another box of books to go to the charity shop and very full shelves in the living room! I still haven't worked out where I'm going to put the 2 boxes of books DD got given last weekend though! (I have left them in the boot of my car for now!)

DH is round a friends tonight for a curry, so I'm off to bed now before he comes home all smelly!

Hope you ladies are all having a fab weekend?

DD was a bit under the weather yesterday which meant she was surgically attached to me all morning. By the time she went for her nap after lunch I was knackered (she weighs almost 15kg) so I had to have a lie down too instead of doing my routines!

Have just caught up though, and have made some banana bread so the house smells yummy Grin

Morning all

Dosey I am going to do race for life with the uni girls, only 5k as we are all very unfit.

Bessie I hope dd is feeling much better now.

I have another day off so far I have tidied through, stripped mine and ds's bed and spent an hour and a half at the allotment digging.

I am now going to do an hour of uni work before I;
-do the ironing
-clean bathroom
-mission
-hotspot the living room coffee table
-go and buy seed potatoes and compost for adding to the allotment where I have been digging

  • book day trip to France for me and uni friends

-make pastry for our chicken pie tonight

that will do it for today don't think I'll get more than that done

Hello. We had a good and productive day yesterday (DD in pre-school always helps!). Not sure how flying and school hols will work together next week.

I've treated my self to some new brightly coloured cleaning things.

Rainy weather not helping with laundry!

Morning all! I seem to be gradually recovering from our crazy weekend. I have cleaned one bathroom, done some of the massive pile of laundry (sheets and towels and more sheets and towels and so it goes on...) I think we have found all the dishes that people kindly squirrelled away in bizarre places! Shock so we are getting there.
DD still has to find homes for all her loot and the house needs a really thorough hoovering.
However the dcs are off school and the weather is stunning so it seems a waste to spend the days doing housework Grin [any excuse emoticon]
We will get back to it bit by bit and a house blessing done in small stages is better than none at all!
How is that spare room bessie?
sponge IME, unless your dcs nap during the day or you can persuade them to get involved, then flying has to be reduced to basics during the holidays or, like me, done in tiny little blocks (I did the bathroom while they were getting dressed yesterday) rather than in a solid mission iykwim.
You will be amazed how even the very basics keep you on top of things though and how much more likely everyone is to be tidy if the house is basically tidy.

Morning carrots! glad to see you back, I was worried you'd all gone off to be "motivated moms" !
Good to hear you've almost recovered from your weekend! (it must have been good!!) My spare room is looking much better thanks! There is still stuff in boxes (mainly coz DH still hasn't finished decorating the dining room) but it is now feasible that the GP can get to & sleep in the spare bed when #2 makes an appearance!

I've been all over the house this week giving rooms "one last good clean" - am currently waiting for the limescale remover spray to do it's thing in the bathroom!

I keep forgetting to tell you guys about my new "toy" - it's called a magic eraser, have you got one? It really is fab! I saw on a thread on here that it would get rid of the marks made by plastic toys in the bath so got one & have been using it on EVERYTHING!

sponge I agree with what carrots says about flying during the holidays, you'll just have to do the bare minimum or do stuff they can help with (sweeping? Cleaning windows?) or that can be done in parallel with them playing.(decluttering? Deadheading?)

Back to the bathroom now!

bessie your motivation is inspirational! I have got the kitchen, hall, main bathroom and master bedroom hoovered so the house seems better already. I have also swished the main bathroom so it is passable for the time being. The dcs seem to have vanished upstairs though, possibly scared that a cleaning frenzy is about to begin, so that will be it for now. Time to play! Grin

Playtime sounds good to me! DD is at nursery today, so I'm just going to pop some more laundry on & get out in the garden! Grin
