I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Well I am knackered, but am feeling fairly pleased with what I've done this weekend. Smile
Had a blitz in the living room today, vacuumed not only the carpet, but also the cat hair off the back of the curtains, the cobwebs, and the skirting board! Not content with that I then cleaned the cats dirty footprints off the windowsill, and their snot marks off the window!!
I also cleaned up the kitchen a bit, DD seemed to enjoy wiping the fronts of the cupboards down, even if she did miss most a few bits!
DH was happy as a sandboy smashing up the old fireplace, but cleared up after himself well, AND has cleared the sink again, so I had a really easy time shining it! Grin

bessie26 · 09/01/2011 23:12

Ooh I am x-posting with everyone tonight!

noeyedeer is there a specific mess problem in your bathroom or is it just general? Like carrots I have a jcloth and spray in the bathroom so I can give the counter a quick wipe whenever I need to. DH has also been much netter at remembering to clean the sink out after he has shaved in the morning which helps. We also have a squeegee which we use on the shower screen every time we shower to keep that under control (which reminds me, I must clean it properly tomorrow!)

Guacamole · 09/01/2011 23:13

I'm on track... Did a declutter, did my hotspots, sink shined, nearly emptied my ironing basket and messed about with my homeroutines app.
What's happening tomorrow?

twinterror · 10/01/2011 08:33

well already I am struggling to keep up with this, but we did spend an entire day househunting on saturday and I have am on day 5 of being poorly (feeling sorry for myself)

I have kept my sink shiny though and have decluttered 2 hotspots and generally the house is more tidy.

If you miss a day, should you add it on to the next day or is that just going to end up adding up to feeling that it is too much?

Carrotsandcelery · 10/01/2011 09:20

this is step 11 which is what I think we are doing today
I am just off out to meet a friend and her newest baby Grin so my morning routine will have to be my early afternoon one. I have swished the bathrooms though and the kitchen table hot spot looks like a 30 second one so I might tackle the desk in the kitchen today. Give me a boot if I don't please!

twinterror · 10/01/2011 13:34

right I think I am caught up now.

I did 3 x hot spots, 3 x room rescues and 15 minutes of decluttering (shredding old papers) so I have made up for weekend.

of my 6 hotspots 3 are now completely cleared.

I will not be making a list of inspirational quotes but I'm quite glad she includes kooky things like that as it means I am not adding something on every day!

On thursday - its do one of kelly's missions - I'll do mine on wed when I am not working so I'll be interested to see what missions kelly has on the go by then!

on work days I find it hard to do any of the activities as just run out of time - does anyone else find this?

have we started swishing bathrooms or have some people jumped ahead?

happy shining

bessie26 · 10/01/2011 13:47

twin I think you have done more than caught up! I am very impressed!
I've spent most of the morning decluttering (bagging up pre-pg clothes to go in the loft) and playing with the train set, but now DD is napping, I need to go clean the kitchen floor.
This "mission" on Thursday sounds ominous... I'll be at work, so might have to do it on Friday instead. (I am doing alot less on work days)

twinterror · 10/01/2011 14:43

Bessie, the 'mission' is kitchen related so you could always count the cleaning floor today as your mission for the week (or is it a mission per day?)!

bessie26 · 10/01/2011 17:15

twin the floor will probably need doing again by then anyway!

SilveryMoon · 10/01/2011 17:15

Silvery Hi - I was wondering where you had gone. We are on Babystep 11 today I think.
What is the One Born Every Minute panel?

SilveryMoon · 10/01/2011 18:25

Thanks CARROTS. Could I be a pain and ask someone to jot down here what the morning and evening etc routines are so I don't have to go all through the FL steps looking myself?

Mumsnet have put together a panel of people who will post thoughts and feedback on here whilst watching one born every minute.
Plus if we link the thread to our fb page and do trhis tonight and next week, we get £40 amazon vouchers.
I applied and was chosen! :-)

Carrotsandcelery · 10/01/2011 18:57

Nice little earner Silvery - getting paid to watch telly and comment on it! We mnetters are experts!

This is the official routine so far. I have chopped bits out and added things in to suit my needs, as I think many of us have. This is just the routine straight from the page.

Morning Routine

  • Get up and get dressed to lace up shoes; fixing your hair and face
  • Looking at your posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom
  • Going to Big Tent and reading messages
  • Recognizing the negative voices and changing them; YOU ARE FLYing NOW!
  • Put out your Hot Spots for 2 minutes
  • 5 Minute Room Rescue (pick any room in the house) set your timer and go!
  • 15 Minutes Decluttering each day. You can?t Organize Clutter!

Before Bed Routine

  • Keep your sink shining
  • Lay out your clothes for tomorrow
  • Put out your Hot Spot (I have to do this twice a day) It makes me smile in the morning!

I have been out most of the day, and struggling through the week's homework with the kids since we got in so I haven't done much yet.
We did jointly do a 15 min declutter of the kitchen desk (finally) and a 2 min hot spot of the kitchen table (again) after they had done their homework and I had filled out all the forms I was given at school. I still need to do a 5 min room rescue, shine my sink and do another 2 minute hot spot - I think the front door shoes are going to get it tonight and my bedside table. Grin

noeyedear · 10/01/2011 20:28

Hi
I do have stuff for cleaning in the bathroom. I probably need to update them though. The main problem is the floor tiles, which seem impossible to clean, as does the shower screen, which is constantly covered in limescale! Also, I'm 32 weeks pregnant, and our bath is quite big. It takes quite an effort to clean it round. I might try that shower spray stuff that you put on after every shower and leave on. Does anyone know if it works? I've been at work today, so a bit rubbish, but will do my sink tonight.

SilveryMoon · 10/01/2011 20:56

Carrots You are a star Grin
That's what I thought we were doing.
All done here.
I now have to work late on a monday, so I didn't get in til nearly 7pm. Dp had bathed the ds's and got them ready for bed so I was able to launch straight into my jobs and get it all done.

Carrotsandcelery · 10/01/2011 21:12

I am way behind tonight - not helped by the fact I am on here rather than sorting out the kitchen.
Dh is still at work - he left at 7am - poor bloke - which means I have all the little bits he would normally do to try to do myself as well.
I am off to do it though so I can relax. I have promised myself a choc from the box if I get it all done Grin

dylsmum1998 · 10/01/2011 21:23

Evening all. Have managed my routines for today, and made tomrrows lunches/dinners ready. just need to unload washer when it finishes.

Now doing uni work watching biggest loser

Carrotsandcelery · 10/01/2011 21:35

Have done lunches, shined sink, decluttered kitchen (not shoes in the end) and hot spotted the coffee tables (rather than bedside table). Sink shining - will wait and have choc with dh as he is now on his way home. Grin

CointreauVersial · 10/01/2011 22:49

Noeyedear - we have some of that Method Shower Spray which you spray on after a shower and leave. It's OK, it does leave a slightly greasy residue, which can be buffed off when dry, but it certainly looks better than the limescale. I've never tried the "non-eco" equivalents, though.

Well, I had a busy day at work, then had to ferry dds to and from Brownies at the local Fire Station (well, hello boys!).

But no slacking when I got home, I did a 5 minute room rescue of my living room, picking up a few bits and running the hoover round - normally I wouldn't have bothered as I hoovered on Friday, so the "little and often" approach feels very new and different!

I've come to the conclusion that I am a "binge cleaner" - I leave it all to fester for weeks and then spend a whole day doing a massive top-to-bottom clean. The problem is, I enjoy one day in a super-clean house, then do nothing and watch it getting grubbier and grubbier until I can't bear it anymore and I have to lose another day of my time cleaning it again. Must break that habit!

I also folded a mountain of laundry and sorted it all to go away. And I'm successfully keeping the hotspot on the dining room table well under control.

I'm ignoring today's babystep I'm afraid, sounds like a load of guff. Grin Off to finish off kitchen, make tomorrow's lunch then off to bed.

Carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2011 10:52

babystep 12

Carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2011 10:55

Easy Peasy today. I have put a wash on, made muffins, made tonight's tea (Tuesday after school is crazy) and made sure the bathroom is presentable. I am now trying to motivate myself to do a hot spot or a 15 minute declutter or a room rescue etc. I have washed all the dishes from the cooking though!
Have a great day everyone.

Carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2011 12:12

Bored myself into submission and have now done a 2 min hot spot on the vestibule, 15 declutter on my bedroom and a 5 min rescue of the lounge.
I have got to the stage that there is only the horror of the dumping ground study to declutter. That would take my 15 min declutter time for a few weeks to sort out I fear. It is not going to go away though so from tomorrow onwards I will have to start chipping away at it.
Do other people have a room that gets filled with all the miscellaneous stuff that you have no idea what to do with? Or is it just me Blush

CointreauVersial · 11/01/2011 12:57

About "dumping grounds" - we have an enormous (30ft) and easily accessible (door from upstairs bathroom) loft, so as you can imagine everything I vaguely want to keep or can't find a home for ends up there.

It's out of the way at least, but one day that door won't shut....

Carrotsandcelery · 11/01/2011 13:29

Cointreau I want your loft! Grin
