I am shattered today, the weekend has been exhausting! Quiet days at home today and tomorrow, DS needs some downtime especially after yesterday - 20 family all got together and he was so excited he hardly ate anything and didn't sleep at all in the car on the way home.

Ali I have been trying to be nice about it, I don't really need more money and would rather not take it from him but just don't see why he can't be bothered to buy his dd a pair of shoes when I ask him to.

All very tired today, think I need to start taking a vitamin or tonic or something now we're getting towards winter. And be stricter about bedtime now dd is doing full days at school.

Saw friend at school this morning and she asked how it went, told her the truth that I'd had a nice time with him but didn't think there was anything there. She was fine about it. Smile

Back with a list in a min, just going to hang more washing out

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/10/2010 10:53

Freak - no I can see that. I've read back what I wrote last night and it sounded a bit fierce - sorry! Grin I suppose the way to look at it is that it isn't money for you, it's for the DCs. If you don't need it for month to month stuff then you could stash it away ready for more expensive school trips and stuff when they are older.
It sounds more like he can't be arsed to actually go and do the shopping than anything else?

Well done on being honest with your friend :)

I haven't done anything much since I last posted, feeling very slow and sleepy today!

minimammoth · 11/10/2010 10:54

Freaki definitely DON'T settle for anything less than best re your date. And yes, well done for telling your friend the score. Sorry DH is being a pain - grief, a pair of shoes or two should not be beyond the wit of a man to organise??? Having said that though, I can barely picture my DH achieving a satisfactory result if asked to go and find shoes/clothes/school uniform etc. Chances of it being in the right amount, size, etc etc are slim.... He is not a good shopper. He desperately needed new jeans last week, bank account not all that healthy right now, but can stand to a new pair of jeans (just!) and the old ones were awful.

Comes back with TWO pairs which cost more than I can bring myself to tell you (Shock at price) and then blamed the shop assistant for her hard sell!!!!!! I can clothe myself and the children (and have done with winter kit, shoes, boots and new uniform in the past month!) for what he spent on two pairs of jeans. Confused.

Didn't think you were being fierce Ali Grin Obviously it would be helpful so I could just go and buy shoes when she needs them myself rather than having to budget and save for them. But in a month I'll have paid back my parents everything I owe them so with have a bit more spare anyway (proud of myself for paying back £1700 in 11 months Grin).

Mini is the kind of applause you are after??

ImASlatternGetMeOutOfHere · 11/10/2010 11:22

anon I would take them back to the shop and get your money back, then go and get him a couple of cheap pairs. Thankfully my DH is pretty good if say this is your budget please don't go over it.

Wasn't meant to clean the bin out but as I had sorted the 2 boxes that were on top of it and preventing it's use I thought it might be a good idea to wash it out and take the bin bag off the kitchen cabinet where it had been kept for a while and use the bin properly again, huzzah!!

anonymousbird · 11/10/2010 11:57

Imaslattern - I wish I could get them back to the shop, unfortunately it is near his work, and no branch anywhere near here....

He did mutter something about having a rethink, as I think even he was a bit Shock when he saw my reaction....

On the whole, though, this was a bit out of character. He hates shopping and therefore does not have lots of clothes that he only wears once or whatever....

Anyway, I did blow the budget a bit on going to get my teeth whitened (with DH's prior agreement though) TALKING OF WHICH, I go to the dentist today to have my "after" shot taken so can compare and see how many shades it has improved Grin Grin. Has definitely made a difference. Hoping she will say I can do another week or two, just to really make them SHINE!

ImASlatternGetMeOutOfHere · 11/10/2010 12:07

Morning!

DH went into town on Saturday and got himself two shirts and a pair of jeans. £18 altogether.
Anon, refund! Grin

Mini - huzzah! And a satisfying job to do at that.

Freaki, don't be grateful, and if you spin it that he won't have to go to the actual shops he might hand it over happily. Grin

Can the pg slatterns add no. of weeks gestating to lists please. Smile [broody]

Plum, Jillian is great, Shred's worth it.
Don't cut your food intake drastically though, that's the way to yo-yo dieting. Less cake more fruit and water, and then increase the exercise and it'll go.

Well.... the landlord barely stepped inside the house, but I'm glad I got it tidier and cleaner anyway. Smile

wasting - well done to your DH! Envy

DH goes away tomorrow for nearly two weeks, and it is completely on business expenses, so the household budget will have a bit of a chance to recover (ie. no spending on beer, virtually no wine, I eat with the kids, he has no travelling to work expenses etc etc) so without trying very hard, with him away, the family finances should be ok..... but even so! Pah.

JKS - DH is going to Bermuda! Just thought it was a bit of a coincidence, you saying just yesterday that your brother lives there....!
