And exciting about scan Grin

JustKeepSwimming · 07/10/2010 11:20

I am starting to get v nervous about scan now, just want to see evidence of an OK baby in there.

Well, i said i was going to have a bath so he could take DS1 to sch, fine.

So at 8.08 DS1 is banging on his drum , no-one is dressed Hmm
DH comes up to have his shower, i question the wisdom of drum-playing, he thinks it's fine as the neighbour will be up getting ready for work, oh-kay. (what if she isn't?) What about getting dressed?
anyhoo, they get dressed he takes DS1 and comes back.

then, i'm reading in bed (i admit being lazy!) and DS2 appears upstairs, it's 9.40, he's meant to be at pre-sch at 9.30 Confused
i come down in my dressing gown, Nanny is waiting with DS2 not sure what to do, DH is in his office on the phone. Hmm

so i go in, he finishes phone call, i ask what's happening with DS2? he has no clue.
Says; i thought Nanny was looking after him, yeee-sss but what about helping her with car seat into her car? checking her car is ok to drive?

dunno how he thought she was going to take him to pre-sch Hmm

And he just doesn't get stuff - like that DS2 needs spare clothes in his bag, or drink to take with him. He doesn't know whose stuff is whose.
I got him to take extra bread & butter yesterday (they only give small portions and he's very fussy so won't eat any of the fruit they give), DH has been present when N & I have talked about this, but he totally forgot and was really confused when they gave DS2 some of their bread & butter. so brought his home. Kid was starving!

wastingaway · 07/10/2010 11:37

I think sometimes they think they're too important to commit things like that to memory.
It's bullshit of course, men are as capable of sorting the day-to-day as we are. [feminist]Grin

Well, DS keeps letting me have a lie-in, ut we had to rush breakfast down to get to music class this morning, at 10. Hmm
I'm really going to have to rush him in the morning. Maybe if we get him to bed earlier tonight it might be ok.

  • up etc. done
  • breakfast done
  • music class done
  • coffee doing
  • fold dry washing
  • dry pots
  • lunch
  • kitchen
  • Mum and Aunty visiting
  • bathroom - very necessary
  • empty bins
  • feed the birds!
  • check garden for inevitable cat poo
  • water plants
  • CD copying

That'll do.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 07/10/2010 11:51

It's funny isn't it - that seems to be fairly classic man-behaviour yet I do have a couple of friends whose dp's are fully involved in the day to day stuff and are just as capable of doing it. Wonder why the rest think they can't??

Yes I was forgetting that scans are scary when it's you having it, hope it all goes well.

Wasting mornings are always a mad rush here too. If I get up at 7 or 7.15 it's fine but most mornings either both dc don't wake til 7.30 so I don't bother getting up or ds has woken much earlier and got in bed with me so I don't bother getting up Confused Darker mornings aren't helping here either.

ImASlatternGetMeOutOfHere · 07/10/2010 12:12

Oh! and my oven has gone kaput this morning

Spent ages making a lovely banana and chocolate cake for my gluten and dairy free son. Put it in the oven and it is ruined. So I had to quickly whizz up my 5 minute in the microwave chocolate cake. Which thankfully came out fluffy and light and I bunged some icing on top and it looks quite good.

Stripped everything off the bed including the under blanket and the underslips on the pillows. All fresh clean stuff been put on and old stuff now in the washing machine. Oh! and I turned the mattress as well, didn't hoover it as I can't find some bits for my hoover (DC3 strikes again) but it is turned.

OP posts:
minimammoth · 07/10/2010 16:34

Girls how do you keep your lists. I usually copy mine from last entry but find I keep getting lost. Ther must be an easier way, not sure I can be botheres to turn it into a word doc though.
So I am Listless

minimammoth · 07/10/2010 16:35

Sorry meant to say hurrah for baby Swimming

anonymousbird · 07/10/2010 16:44

Mini. I used to copy from last post but similarly would lose it/spend ages looking for it.

I now find it easier to have it in a Word doc. It's a bit laborious, copy across and back again, but I just found last week (!) that you can bookmark your last post, so easier to find your last post.

It took someone about three goes on another thread to explain it to me Blush, so I"m clearly not the best one to try and explain it to you!!!! Other than I can tell you, you are looking for an almost invisible blue box that pops up at random on the right hand side of your most recent post, and you can click the blue box (if you can find it!) to "save" your bookmark...

Confused Confused? You should be!

OP posts:
anonymousbird · 07/10/2010 18:35

PS. Does anyone else simply forget to drink?

I often get to the latter part of the day and realise that I haven't actually drunk anything other than my early morning coffee!!!!

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/10/2010 18:52

JKS - yay for scan! I guess with the nuchal fold, if there is anything to find then you will discover it at your 20 week scan and then you know well before the baby is born if they will need any treatment at birth or anything like that.

I'm sorry I've been so lame with lists recently ladies, life has been ticking over here and the house is reasonably clean and tidy. The laundry situation is completely out of control though so I will be here with a list tomorrow trying to get on top of that Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/10/2010 18:58

anon - I used to, but BFing DS really put a stop to that and I got much better at remembering to drink. I have a pint glass next to the sink all day and whenever I go into the kitchen I have a drink, and I always make myself a whole pot of tea at lunchtime and drink at least 2 cups.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 07/10/2010 19:07

Plum he is dd's best friend's uncle. I am having doubts though because in his pics he looks really old (and skinny). Don't remember him looking that old irl though. And maybe he's just not photogenic, I know I'm not! It's only a night out anyway, not like I have to marry him.

Anon yep I forget to drink too, included it on my list for a bit to remind me! I fill up a glass of water when I make breakfast now and then seeing it there will make me drink it through the morning, and once I've drunk that I refill it so I always have a glass on the go. Also take a glass to bed and drink that through the night/first thing. it's a case of making it a habit I think, I used to drink loads.

Good news about scan jks

Crikey, what or where is bump and reset?? Never seen that one!

If you hover your mouse somewhere in your last post, in the bottom right hand corner a blue square with "bookmark" in it should appear. You just need your pointer somewhere in the post you want to bookmark.... hope that helps!

Ah, just remembered, I think you need to do something in Customise (up the top) to say "yes" to bookmarks.. or something like that.
Sorry, I told you I wasn't the best person to explain!
