Naff things in other people's houses (Tongue in Cheek)

I know that it is a question of each to his own etc but what do you find naff in other people's homes? I was invited round to neighbour's today to gawp at their new gas barbecue that is the size of a Challenger tank. They were terribly proud of it and the husband was lovingly caressing it whilst the wife was squealing in anticipation of all the hot sausage her man was going to serve her! All I could think was 'Why? Why? Why?' What do you find naff in other people's homes and why?

@Justkeepleft same here, they are on our patio doors at the far end of the kitchen, there isn't room for curtains and no other sort of blind would work.

I have 3 gnomes in my garden; Gnorman the Gnome, Walter Wheelbarrow and Willie Wheelbarrow. Gnorman is classier because he is whitish stone. Walter and Willie are brightly coloured plastic.

And his name has a silent G. All the best names do, like Gnasher from the Beano!

My yoga teachers has 70s bamboo wallpaper, a brown sunken bath suite and brown shag carpets in her bathroom. Hasn’t ever been changed and looks amazing, like something off a TV set. Now that’s style. 😁

Vertical office blinds, my mum always called them “doctor’s surgery blinds”. Crushed velvet furniture, black or white high gloss kitchen, a digital fireplace which is just a screen with a moving image of flames on, live love laugh/gin o’clock/mum is fuelled by wine etc naff signs, mirrored cabinets, hot tub, leather sofas, astroturf and fake plants in the garden, a boring garden that’s just paving slabs and an overly manicured patch of grass (or astroturf). I have quite specific tastes!

Oh, we've got a garden gnome too. He's wearing a premier league football kit (extra naff points for that)

I'm currently sitting at my boyfriends house whilst he's out and I'm mentally looking at things that might get lost or broken, when we combine houses one day!

First to go missing, is the framed picture of Elvis...

My dad wouldn't let my mum get a new kitchen so she painted everything instead, battleship grey. So every time I go in I get the 'in the navy' Billy Connolly song stuck in my head. Also wood panelling everywhere!

Oh yes and family photo shoots of the barefoot, soft focus, forced laughter kind. Or worse, naked posed photos of the homeowners entwined in a way to cover each other’s bits

They only died recently and the house sold in March. Poor people

They also had avocado bathroom suite, orange tiles, suspended ceiling and wood panelling in the bathroom. We had it all!

Oh and borders. Everywhere.

So sorry for your loss but if they were here I would give them a massive hug for their bold, unashamedly retro-licious decor. If you are going to do it, you gotta go all the way! They did it with panache!

My step mum has loads of canvas prints of a photoshoot she had of her on a beach. There are various shots of her pulling poses in the water. They are on a number of walls in their house, including in their spare bedroom, so it feels like she's always watching you, whilst posing.

I also have vertical blinds. Moved house last year and have massive windows and not got around to changing them yet.

We've got very thick, ornately patterned, good quality curtains I can't bear to replace from a waste not want not perspective but they have huge pelmets, it's like a 1980s Manor house drawing room here
