So I have the french style console tables so I can’t have a modern shelf or anything,and if I put a tv cabinet there it will be too much. What’s your thoughts?

What would you do with these bloody plugs?

the dressing tables are what is throwing it off. get a long/low console for under TV and repurpose (or sell) the dressing tables.

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 11:46

That looks a bit big for the space. You should make a paper template and put it down to see how close to the sofa it will be.

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 14:14

@hopeishere it’s a really large room you can tell on the picture

That will look good, I think! I think it is lovely.

Who cares if it is a bit boudoir? It’s your home.

hopeishere · 12/05/2020 15:32

It might be big but a massive piece of furniture could overwhelm it. Also you will be able to see your reflection from the sofa all the time. I'd hate that!!

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 15:42

@hopeishere get your points I will just have to see what it looks like when it comes

Two mirrors facing couch ? So you can stare at yourself staring at the tv. What the f?

I once lived in a flat that had to have some significant changes to the layout (don't know how it had got to the stage of me having lived there for 6 months before anyone realised it didn't comply with fire safety regs but there we go). They covered up where a door had been next to the TV with a door sized mirror. Took a lot of getting used to being able to see yourself constantly while watching TV!

Your living room looks a similar size and shape to mine OP, although I won't be posting pictures of mine for comparison Blush mines more nursery-that's-been-burgled chic.

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 16:15

@Spam88 ha ha ha. I can’t see myself in the mirrors. As they are at far ends Of the room

Ah @ Lifeinconfusing - just do what you think best. That has always been my MO. Looking at your house am sure it will be fabulous. But I think you know that. A tweak here or there with tables / chairs etc won't probably alter the essential feel of it so - if the plug sockets bother you - you have a plan to fix that. I hope it goes well & good luck. My DS is now 23 and I still can't keep my house as tidy as yours Grin

BasiliskStare · 12/05/2020 16:56

Sorry - typing too quickly that last post was to @Lifeisconfusing

PegasusReturns · 12/05/2020 17:08

OP you’ve taken all the feedback very well - I hope you’ll provide some pics of how you end up styling the room. Smile

KurtansCurtains · 12/05/2020 17:24

Wow, OP, there's some been some harsh comments. I think you've taken them really well and it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing. I actually like the console tables (prefer them to the mirrored unit actually), it's just their placement.

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 18:50

@PegasusReturns I definitely will.
@KurtansCurtains Iv ordered the mirrored unit now so I’m hoping it will look good. I knew I wasn’t happy with the room so I’m glad I got everyone’s opinion. When I was younger I would have been devastated by any negativity but as a 35 year old I’m cool with it, I mean some of the suggestions are laughable and not my taste either but it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Thanks so much for your input Flowers

@FamilyOfAliens no it’s a brand new house (new build) that we have bought.

I Didn’t think about the plug situation when I got it wallpapered. We live and learn eh Grin

Ha ha @ Lifeisconfusing - " I Didn’t think about the plug situation when I got it wallpapered." We live and learn eh? Grin I am on 3rd renovated house & if I were - in the very very unlikely event - to do another - still things to learn - but by and large a few plug sockets you can hide isn't the worst thing. Better too many than too few - imagine trying to hide 3 extension cables with a pretty mirrored cabinet Grin Ah it looks like you will absolutely fine - all best - Basilisk

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/05/2020 19:56

Hope you like your cabinet when it comes OP. With chair on one side, I'd probably look for a nice free standing lamp at the other side or a really big fern plant or something. And leave that bay window free for your Christmas tree 😀.

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 20:25

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo love that advice

From the one who decorated her living room to look like my local hairdressers?! If you say so...
