So I have the french style console tables so I can’t have a modern shelf or anything, and if I put a tv cabinet there it will be too much. What’s your thoughts?

I could suggest a few things,

  1. Get an electrician to remove the socket boxes and plaster wall over.
  1. A feature piece of furniture such as a nice drawer unit or storage unit. Also I thought a bookshelf could look pretty neat there.
  1. Install a fireplace, my sister in law has recently moved into a new place and got an electric fireplace which cost only £100 for the product and he boyfriend fitted (imagine a professional could cost anywhere from £50-£200 depending on mainy variables) and use it to cover the sockets.
  1. Finally the simplest is buy a TV unit and stand the TV on it

Hope this helps

I'd get rid of the tables and put in a low wall-mounted fireplace. There are lots of inexpensive options nowadays.

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 00:38

@SebThompson ah Thankyou the wallpaper was £70 a roll so not keen on messing with plugs and plaster. I would put a tv unit there but I want to keep tv on the wall. If I put a tv unit there what would I do with the sides? It’s a large room you see. Thanks again

It is a bit boudoir, sorry OP...

I’d either get rid of the tables or relocate them, then put something low under the TV to hide the sockets.

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 00:39

@JKScot4 what would you put in window

OP posts:
Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 00:41

BitOfFun · 12/05/2020 00:41

Is it recessed? If so, build a window seat?

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 00:42

@Wilmalovescake ha ha I know my taste is abit girly. I was on may the best house win in my old house and they said it was boudoir ish

Ooh, which episode?

JKScot4 · 12/05/2020 00:45

Nothing in window, unless recessed why do you need something in window?

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 00:46

It was 2012 can’t even remember the episode I had it on DVD’s but chucked it as hated doing it .

I did it for experience

@JKScot4 I’m not sure. I thought I had good taste until I came on here ha ha ha I need to rethink the look completely. Iv never felt satisfied with my living room and now I know why.

I’m a minimalist and like clean lines but still to be a livable comfortable room. Where you have the chair is facing away from ppl sitting on sofa, it’s your home not a show home.
I’m guessing you don’t have young kids 😉

JKScot4 · 12/05/2020 00:52

Kitchen is lovely 👍🏼

bossyboo · 12/05/2020 00:53

I think your lounge and kitchen look lovely 😊 I'd love my house to look similar! But sorry don't know what to do about the plugs - sorry! Smile

BasiliskStare · 12/05/2020 00:53

Ah @Lifeisconfusing if we all liked the same things etc etc.

I agree with Pps wo=ho have said a nice low foot stool would be a relatively cheap answer and hide the sockets ( or a trunk etc with a cushion on top - also as you don't seem to have much in the way of side tables / coffee table ) would be handy for putting a tray on - or extra seating when lots of guests - I wouldn't have the sockets taken out I would just put something lowish in front of them & I do think a low and wide footstool could work. ( Also given two wooden tables I think something a bit upholstered would look better in between than more wood ) - so a relatively inexpensive fix rather than binning your tables

Honestly I would not have thought of the hairdresser thing if someone had not mentioned it. Or you could take a qualification in hairdressing and invest in two client chairs. At t least the plug sockets will earn their keep - I joke .

The other thing would be an upholstered ottoman - v handy for storage and again not too much wood - thinking of something like this - there are others on website which are more buttons etc and am sure available in lots of places but just an idea www.thedormyhouse.com/empire-ottoman-plain-upholstered-lid

@BasiliskStare Thankyou.
I thinking of going with a glass cabinet under tv then putting my chair on an angle where one of the console are and maybe just a lamp table on the other side

BruceAndNosh · 12/05/2020 00:59

One of these?
Apparently it's an upholstered footstool coffee table.
Loads of different shapes but you need rectangular like this preferably just a bit deeper than your consoles

Your kitchen looks great, but I could never eat baked beans in it Grin.

DoreensEatingHerSoreen · 12/05/2020 01:00

Could you get something like this and install in front of the sockets?

PS I think your room is very elegant

Lifeisconfusing · 12/05/2020 01:01

Perhaps this under tv. Not sure what I would do with the mirrors would I just leave the walls plain
