How much are people paying to go on holiday this year?

Our stats:
2 adults 2 children
1 week in July to Lanzarote
Basic 2 star self catering apts, small pool, all clean and pleasant. No luxury.
£1800
Spending money approx £1500

We eat out for lunch and dinner each day, visit a music bar/play pool after dinner and do a few local day trips but kids happy with pool/beach/playparks. They could run up and down a wall beside stairs for hours!

I pass by some of the bigger hotels with the entertainment and activities and wonder if we would like that. Would anyone share how much they are paying for these types of holidays?

Just wondering how much people are paying for different holidays and also, as an aside, when is the best time to book for best deals?

Norway. 4 adults.
Return flights about £140 each (inc large cabin bag) but only needed to pay for 3 as one of us was there for work anyway.
2 nights 3 bed apartment in Oslo £475
7 nights 2 bed cabin on island in Oslofjord £840
Public transport to and from airport, cabin about £250 for 4.
Total £1985
Dont know how much spending money was. Quite a lot for time in Oslo as we ate out and it was expensive, also went to two museums, but that was only 1.5 days. The week in the cabin we just self catered and didnt do very much other than chill so didn't spend dramatically more than at home.

14 nights Kos right now, 2 adults 1 older child, 3 star self catering, cost 2100 or just over then spending approximately 2k spending money as usual although it’s definitely cheaper than Skiathos last year so might be 18 or 19 hundred who knows lol.

We are in one of the big hotels in Turkey in a couple of weeks AI, lots of sport events and entertainment as we have a teen. It's cost just over 6.5K for 2 adults and a 13 year old. We will spend about £700ish on excursions incl Scuba diving and going out and about

OP for the £3300 you are spending you could get a week in a family hotel with entertainment. A lot depends on the age of the children.
Cheapest time to book is as far in advance as possible, especially for school holidays.

£5k for 2 adults including direct flights (£2300), food, Heathrow short stay parking (£238 ouch), travel insurance (£175) seats on plane (£150), all hotels, 3 safaris, visit Lions Rock, Ella train, tea plantations, private driver etc (£490 plus tips) to Sri Lanka for c2 weeks.

A week in the peak District £600 for a house - 5 adults 1 child + obviously food and trips out etc

4 nights in Spain £1202 - 2 adults 1 child all inclusive

Two adults and two children, two weeks in Canada (multistop) with four of the days staying in a friends house for free and three days of another friends cottage for free. Our total including what we spent there is about £9k, its a lot of money, but day one was a work event for my husband so his return flight was free, we were also able to borrow a friends car so we didn’t need to pay to hire one. Virtually all meals were cooked in as well, the exception was the odd day in a hotel rather than an apartment. Luckily ours are still just young enough that we can take advantage of free and reasonably priced things so we can dodge expensive themeparks etc.

Not paying care hire alone saved us almost £1,000, having some free places to stay also meant we actually only paid for a week of hotels/apartments. We saved about £800 from not having to my for one of the flights.

We’re currently on a little adult only holiday, we got the train here which was about £40, we’re staying in our summer house, so just food and fuel.

£3000 for 7 night full board package holiday for 2 adults + 2 children, staying onsite on the PortAventura theme park in Spain at the end of August, probably budget another 1-2K on drinks and express passes. Never been before but DH and DC love theme parks and unfortunately can’t afford Florida every year!

10 grand. But we treated family to a 2 week villa holiday in Spain and paid for 5 flights including husband and I.. Once here we ate in on alternate nights (they enjoyed the cooking) so we economised a bit on that.

We’re going for 2 weeks to an Agriturismo apartment in the Italian Marche region with a swimming pool and air conditioning.
I have no problem self catering as it will mostly be lazy breakfasts, cold protein and fresh fruit/veg or packed lunches, home comforts for the dog, so comparable to staying at home.

2 adults and a toddler, 11 nights all inclusive 4 star Spain £3300 with about a grand spending money as we don’t like to just eat at the resort. This was June though so not in school holidays. Would be about 2000 more in 6 weeks 😳

Easter holiday was £9.5k all inclusive to Antigua, spent an extra £300 on excursions but well worth it as a great way to see the island.
Hotel was great and included free water sports to keep you busy.

So far, £3,500 plus spending money for 5 adults spending 10 days near Barcelona. That's flights, travel insurance, car hire, 7 nights at air b&b holiday home with pool and 5 bedrooms on the coast then 3 nights at a hotel in Barcelona itself before we fly home.

Then spends.

2 adults and 2 dc. Four nights in Tuscany may half term £1000 inc spending money.
11 nights in the Peloponnese b&b in July/August £4k plus about £1500 spending money and £600 car hire. 3 nights in log cabin on Isle of Wight in August £900 plus spends. Holidays are a priority for our family.

10 days Port de Soller in October £3100 2 people. 4 star hotel bed and breakfast. Will probably spend about £1500-2000 out there.

Scottish highlands , holiday let plus train £1000, £100 ish spending money per day £1800 for a week. Family of four. Includes getting into holiday attraction type places for kids.

Just been to London for 4 days/4 nights, 2 adults and 2 kids (age 11+, they have kids oysters cards so paying child fare for them on the tube). Tallying up our expenditure and without any activities it was £1,580, approximately £2,700 with activities. We stayed in a premier inn, we ate breakfast at the hotel, took the train to London, we never spent more than £95 on any individual meal (that was just a main course and a drink each). We sometimes ate lunch on the go, but twice we sat down in a restaurant for both lunch and dinner. We did do 3 high cost activities like shows (we only did 1 show, but did some other things like that that cost a lot). I used Tesco clubcard vouchers for some of the activities. It basically cost more than going abroad I think.

All inclusive for 6 of us - 2 adults & 4 kids £1700 for all inclusive for the week and approx £2k for flights. Didn't spend much whilst there. So under 4k which Im really happy with.

I suppose this is Mumsnet, but some of your holiday budgets are crazy to me.

how much better actually is an all inclusive that costs £10k or even £15k compared to one that costs £5k? What is it that you think is worth spending an extra £5-10k?

£500 for 4 nights across various locations around Scotland. Probably another £200 on spending money.
