How much are people paying to go on holiday this year?

Our stats:

1 week in July to Lanzarote
Basic 2 star self catering apts, small pool, all clean and pleasant. No luxury.

We eat out for lunch and dinner each day, visit a music bar/play pool after dinner and do a few local day trips but kids happy with pool/beach/playparks. They could run up and down a wall beside stairs for hours!

I pass by some of the bigger hotels with the entertainment and activities and wonder if we would like that. Would anyone share how much they are paying for these types of holidays?

Just wondering how much people are paying for different holidays and also, as an aside, when is the best time to book for best deals?

Just back from 10 nights in Crete, AI. £10k 2 adults and 3 children. Probably spent about £500 while we were there on meals and trips.

We've just done 4 nights in Dubrovnik, followed by 8 nights in Montenegro (2 adults and a 17 year old). It was a package put together by Trailfinders, included flights, all transfers - including crossing from Croatia to the Montnegro hotel, hotels in each place (2 rooms and breakfast). 8k and we spent another 2k on meals out and a couple of trips. Bloody expensive holiday! But we don't do holidays like that every year.

£120 for 3 nights camping in July ( doing same in Aug) so actually £240. Bargain!

3 adults, first week of September, 9 days in Croatia, £1600 self catering. Probably about £1000 spending money

We houseswap with friends in Europe. So £1,200 on flights, £120 on parking at Heathrow and then we tend to be pretty liberal with the cafes and ice creams during our two weeks away - another £1,200 spending money. Five of us.

2 adults self catering Greece, £1400 for a week. No idea on spending just yet.

Some (most) of these costs are eye watering! We're just back from Croatia, a week sc cost around 3k all in, 2 adults 1 toddler. We don't go abroad often though, this was the first time since 2022.

It is a new hotel and I'd had a tip from a friend if you book holidays before the hotel is open for reviews it is cheaper.

Around £4500 on flights, car hire and a gorgeous apartment with terrace overlooking a marina and the Bay of Cádiz in the south of Spain for 12 days, mostly two adults. Also £1800+ spending money, to include catering/supermarket shops and dining out.
”Mostly” two adults means DH and I with DS joining us for five days or so. He paid for his own flight and a few odds and ends. But if he hadn”t come we would have been fine with a 1BR, 1BA apartment.
Would go again, and probably will.

1 week Tenerife in June this year 2 adults 2 children. All Inclusive hotel £6000. Very poor view from the hotel room balcony (no privacy) Spent about £300 while there mainly on 2 of us jet ski and para gliding trip. This price includes car parking at the airport.

We usually do a week all inclusive in the med in a 3/4 star hotel. We usually pay 1k pp. You must spend a lot on food and drink if you go self catering...I reckon you are better off just paying the extra and doing all inclusive. We hardly need any spending moneh

1 week in Tenerife for 5 adults (3 rooms) - £3000 plus £2000 spends

18 nights Orlando (villa not onsite so significantly cheaper) - £12k with £5k spends

2 adults, 2 children (5yo & 1yo) 1 week in Maderia end of July half board £1780 plus £500 for spends wont be doing trip as 1yo is wild and the 4 hour flight will be enough

2 weeks self-catering in France (1 week with our own pool) is £2000 for ferries and accommodation. We will also need to spend on petrol for the driving and food, probably around £1000. We don't eat out much due to fussy DC. Most days out will be cheap or free as we like to sightsee, visit swimming lakes etc, excepting one trip to a theme park which will probably cost at least £200 for all of us.

We go to France every year. Looked into going elsewhere but the accommodation in France seems so much cheaper than comparable options in other European countries and we take our car so don't need to worry about car hire prices (we like to drive around and see lots when on holiday).
