Just that! I am visiting my son in Dubai in January and have been upgraded. I am travelling on my own. Any tips on do's and don't in Business? I'm a bit nervous 😓 and a lovely surprise for my retirement ❤️

It's just a seat on the plane :) It's the same do's and don'ts as being in public generally.

Enjoy the comfy seat!

Lampzade · 16/10/2025 16:34

Just enjoy it Op

egganbacon · 16/10/2025 16:37

I literally today have been looking to upgrade my Emirates flight to Melbourne but apparently I cannot do it online…am so jealous OP .Have damaged my shoulder and dreading sitting in economy 😭Am visiting my son as well ❤️
Have a fabulous flight.

NameChangeForThisQuestionOnly · 16/10/2025 16:38

Do - enjoy every moment, eat and drink everything, use everything, embrace the luxury.
Don’t - nothing.

Lucky you, what a treat!

BCBird · 16/10/2025 16:38

Enjoy it OP. 😁

Ilikewinter · 16/10/2025 16:39

Ooh fantastic news, starting retirement in style!!
Just enjoy it, eat as much as you can, stretch out, restrict the alcohol!

Editing to add -you'll never want to go back to premium economy again!

babasaclover · 16/10/2025 16:40

You should have access to their business class lounge in the airport too. Make sure to make use of that and enjoy!

fiddleplayingbrunette · 16/10/2025 16:41

Enjoy your flight, what a treat!

Cominghomesoon · 16/10/2025 16:43

Ladies, thank you. 😊

Get to the airport with plenty of time to enjoy the lounge. Otherwise dress however you want and enjoy the flight

strictlynopolitics · 16/10/2025 16:45

You also need to keep the thread going for those of us who dream of premium economy let alone business class!

Peridot1 · 16/10/2025 16:45

It’s pretty early to have been given an upgrade by the airline. They would normally keep business class seat available to sell as long as possible. Maybe your son upgraded you?

NoOneToCallWhenThePlaneLands · 16/10/2025 16:49

Dress nicely - make sure you look tidy. Linen over leggings, for example.

Make sure your luggage isn’t tatty and is neat, make sure you can lift your bag into the overhead locker yourself.

Make sure you take everything you need and don’t beam with excitement when they offer you a drink. Just accept it and thank them.

Be lowkey. Don’t overindulge. This is just a normal experience for everyone around you. Make sure you have headphones and you’re quite etc.

OneOrTheOther · 16/10/2025 16:51

Don't forget if you're flying business OP, emirates will collect you to and from the airport up to an hour from the airport - if you live nearby, it's a godsend!

Load nonsense. Ex emirates first class hostie here!

Dress however you want to, relax, and enjoy. Eat as much or as little as you want, don't forget to open all the cabinets in your suite, as there are hidden help yourself bars and snack boxes for you. The crew will definitely look after you, and you can always ask for more of anything if you need it.

It’s absolutely not nonsense. You want to look the part. If you want to dress any other way, you can always turn down the upgrade!

OneOrTheOther · 16/10/2025 17:00

The OP isn't dressing hoping to get an upgrade (though that idea went out with the ark, it's all about points and frequent flyers getting them these days). She already has an upgrade. Therefore she can dress however she likes (bikinis obviously not advised OP!)

Business is not about having to dress up these days, quite frankly, it's about who can afford it / expense it!

Linen? It'll be a creased mess in minutes. Certainly not "tidy".

Rubbish. Wear whatever you'll be comfy in.

Don't play it cool, be excited if that's how you feel. Try everything, get the full experience. Nobody around you will even notice what you're doing so don't worry about them. It won't be an everyday experience for everyone but you, there'll be others having a 'once in a lifetime' experience as well.

Well your username is fairly appropriate.

Don’t take any notice, just enjoy the flight however you please (within reason!). The cabin team have seen it all, and you’re never going to see the other passengers again. Enjoy the glass of bubbly before you take off.

Neat luggage? Haha the vast majority of regular travellers using business will have tatty old cases, they don’t buy new luggage for each trip. Also lots of people can’t lift their bags into the overhead, it’s not a condition of travel.

I’m creased, pun intended, at the idea of linen looking tidy.

crumpet · 16/10/2025 17:06

And in business class you’re never far from cabin crew who will be available to help put your luggage in the overhead locker.

I have no idea what you're talking about. There is no part to play and no dress code.

AnonKat · 16/10/2025 17:07

I had this going to America at the airport. I was in leggings and a baggy jumper, looked a mess. Honestly no one looked that smart! I enjoyed the first class lounge. Just enjoy! Its sad going back to economy.
