Mine would be Sweden, although I enjoyed the holiday. Disney in Florida is expensive, but no more than we expected.

I'm surprised to see that Croatia's overpriced, I haven't been but I hope to one day.

jennytheonionslayer · 13/04/2024 09:18

Capri

Mumaway · 13/04/2024 09:18

Santorini. Nothing there except tourists and shit food.

KateDelRick · 13/04/2024 09:19

Croatia used to be value for money, but lots of Germans and Austrians have bought holiday homes there, and those prices have hiked.

WithIcePlease · 13/04/2024 09:19

Daylesford Organic

Xylophonics · 13/04/2024 10:47

A villa in Corfu.

V expensive for what it was - and you had to pay extra for any complimentary extras- so we arrived and they didn't even have the basics. A disappointing holiday.

I don't mind expensive if the place is worth it- Capri is v expensive as pp mentioned but was amazing.

Xylophonics · 13/04/2024 10:47

For a day trip i should add

Yes, Monaco is overpriced and ridiculously overrated.

Agree with PP about Norway although I did love it.

I’m getting worried as we have a Scandinavian trip planned this year. 🫣 Will be living on plain rice until then to save up

Doseofreality · 13/04/2024 11:01

Santorini, and in particular, a bar overlooking the Caldera in Fira. We paid the equivalent of £35 for two iced coffees and a bottle of water.

Changingplace · 13/04/2024 09:01

Exactly what I came to say, ridiculously expensive- we got charged $35 for a pint of lager & a wine, the hotels charge a ‘resort fee’ on top of your room fee which is literally just an extra charge just to exist in the hotel.

I know you can pay tips for a drink in the casinos but I was bored of the casinos and just wanted to have a quiet drink.

Vegas is one of the cheapest places in the USA though?
Much cheaper than Boston or New York.

It is the weak £ that makes overseas travel so expensive now. Fixing the economy might help!

ssd · 13/04/2024 11:37

Burger King at any motorway service, bloody hell

LipstickedPowderedAndPainted · 13/04/2024 11:45

Overpriced vs expensive aren't the same thing. Places like Norway are crazily expensive but their entire cost of living seems to be high, their taxes and everything are enormous and their entire costs are vat so this is reflected in the cost of everything you buy, it's really pricey.
You go to Disney land in florida, where locally food is virtually free but there it's insanely over priced so id consider that a good example. Capri because you are prisoners, also Venice. Basically anywhere you are trapped the prices are raked up for the visiting audience.

ObsidianTree · 13/04/2024 11:48

Theme parks in UK for sure. Priced up 2 nights in Legoland with hotel and ticket price. Was around £800! Decided we could go to Europe on a mini break flights and hotel for the same. So doing that instead!

Disneyworld.
Breakfast/brunch can easily be $60 each in our resort hotel. I remember when it was half that, and the pound was stronger.

We took our dc to Legoland Uk for a day 27 years ago when they first opened.
With entry, basic lunch and a small Lego gift x2 we spent £100.
There wasn’t even much there either.

Switzerland.

RadRad · 13/04/2024 12:52

Anywhere in the UK to be honest, the level of quality vs price is beyond ridiculous in this country.

Resort fees in Las Vegas are illegal.
The best thing is to refuse to pay and then if they insist put it on your cc and when the fees hits your card dispute it with your cc company.

We’ve been a couple of times to both Split and Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik always was more expensive as they have completely gone after the tourist market. The last time we were there was October 2022 and prices were ridiculous, even our lovely apartment owner in Cavtat couldn’t believe the price for the cable car and walking the walls. Now they have joined the Euro I hate to think what prices are.
